I've had the pleasure of watching Barry play many times. Barry is a one of kind guy!

Very cool! I found in a band section this instrument I'd never heard of and it sounds fantastic, especially with Barry playing.

My dad taught me to play the rhythm bones when I was 13. Dad played a Gibson six-string guitar and a harmonica in a neck-holder simultaneously such songs as Red River Valley, Turkey In The Straw, etc. I really thank my dad for teaching me
to play the bones. I never learned to play guitar; I learned play ragtime piano instead.

The Carolina Chocolate Drops feature the bones a lot, too. I first noticed the bones when I saw the Gillette Brothers...

3:05 "Barry can play with both hands equally well."
How many people play bones in the first place?

More than you would think - and two-handed. Barry's a bit wrong on the history end, but he plays fine, and has been darned lucky.

Can it be that Ian Dury was singing about bones?

Oldest instrument in the world. They found them in caves.

Indian khartaals are slightly larger and held and played in a very different way

As it happens, Patton won the All-Ireland Bones Competition in 2019 at Fleadh by the Feale, And, for sure, this is one lucky dude.
