You're not alone. But then when you look at it, his past hurt and loss he experienced fueled what he did to keep others from experiencing the hurt and loss he experienced. He was doing a bad thing with good intentions. She because of that, he lost himself along the way and forgot why he did what he did in the first place.

I nearly cried listening to this song. It was love at first hearing and both Chris and Ariana did a fantastic job!!! Easily my favorite song of the movie! 😭💖
I remember watching this in theaters. I was so mesmerized by how beautiful it was. I loved the film. Hopefully, in a few years people can look back at the film without hate.
Most people didn't hate on the movie just to hate. It was just a bad movie 😂. Apart from this one good song, the story and characters were really bad. Generic, boring, and made no sense. People these days think that any negative constructive criticism is hate or toxic when it's not.
I hope the hate for Magnifico dies down. He's actually a very misunderstood and underrated Villain. He's the kind of villain that started out good and ended up a corrupted one. Yes he aint as vicious as Frollo from Hunchback or has the same evil goals as Maleficent or any other villain. He is as vain as Gaston though! But you gotta remember. He is as scary as the others because HE WAS ONCE GOOD!! Its always scary when the people we trust and seem good are the ones who turn on us and let us fall to our doom.
Very true. I too hope it dies down. Much like this entire movie. Yeah, it has it's issues, but I honestly don't think it's as bad as so many built it up to be.
I agree. But I think he was more morally ambitious to evil than good guy to evil. Maybe he was a good guy when he built Rosas. I really love how this movie shows how you can lower yourself to a point of no return
Love this song! Really had me rooting for Magnifico tbh, I wish he had a redemption at the end. I think he had good intentions but went awry with the power and fear of uncertainty.
Easily one of the best songs in the entire films. This and the reprise of This Wish gave me goosebumps and chills. Hopefully, this film gets more love over time, because it deserves it.
Probably the best song in the movie but I have to admit that I reacted a lot to when Asha saw her grandfather's wish so did Magnifico keep singing about protecting all whishes but she suddenly only focused on one that she cared for personaly, cant stop seeing that Ashas motivations are all egotistical and I fully understood why Magnifico would challange that, I mean she wanted and expected the working with the king perks before even getting the job 🤣
Magnifico didn't really care about the wishes though, apart from how they served to stroke his own ego. They were a symbol of his control over his subjects. And the minute his control was challenged, he couldn't handle it and went off the deep end.
??? She was looking at and loving all the wishes she saw for most of the song. Of course when she sees her grandpa's she's gonna run to it. Y'all r so weird and misogynistic honestly
@@supremeoverlorde2109 He constantly talks about protecting the wishes equally, protecting his people and making sure the past tragedy could not repeat, on that so did he create a country where people happily moved to and the entire deal was in the open, sure when Asha turned traitor and started stealing from him he thought the treat was larger then it was and it started going downward but this stress of protection an entire kingdom from the old tragedy was getting to him, he needed a vacation 😆

Despite being a duet between protagonist and villain, this is such a beautiful song that it tugs at my heartstrings. Seriously when I hear it I get chills from how beautiful it is and the emotion and the feeling that is in the song ✨🫧💙
More i watch this, more i understand. "I will protect you" Magnifico is talking to the power of this wishes, the power that he want and he will protect at all cost just for use it for himself; Asha is talking to the people that create those wishes. Same words, different meanings
I genuinely believe king magnifico had good intentions, he did originally and he has a good point, a wish cant be ambiguous, he’s traumatized and it’s protective, this song.
Finally saw the movie yesterday and loved it! Just saying, this song shows the difference between Asha and Magnifico from the beginning and how they look at the wishes. Asha is fascinated, wants to keep the wishes safe and sound and want all of them come true. Magnifico just want to possess them like a collection, because having all wishes means he can contol others. Espeacially how Magnifico plays with them like it´s nothing, but the wishes embrace and surrounds Asha like a hug. This song is really deep.
True, apart from the fact that the wish spheres turn a slightly purple tone when they are around her. Although from what I know, supposedly in the extra material of, (If I remember correctly) the novelized version of the film indicates that Magnífico partly keeps them there because he belives he can find a certain feeling of fulfillment in having them (?
@@janusthekitten9692I Feel like if Asha wasn't tempting him and if Magnifico got therapy he would be less overprotective Let me remind you, Magnifico literally lost both his mom and dad, So it's probably the major reason he was so overprotective and acted too quickly, Magnifico was never a villain, he was being used by the people around him

No matter how bad or great each of us thinks this movie is, no one can deny the beauty of this song. It's very emotional to see these characters sing together, with one same goal
When I first see the visuals of this song in the cinema, I was trully inlove how they sang the song on their own perspective and how the movement of the wish bubbles makes a good background of the song.
I absolutely ADORE this movie. Disney killed it. The fact we have an actual villain, a real villain, somebody that started out with good intentions but ended up being consumed by his ambition, insecurities and resentment (due to past trauma). The fact that the good in him can be appreciated in this precise moment and it combines with Asha’s goodness is so refreshing and mesmerizing. This teaches kids that bad people are just people that stop caring for others, and that looks can be so deceiving, that your wish is your own and you need to pursue it yourself, not hope somebody else grants it through “promises” and pretty words… AMAZING movie. MORE movies like this please!
You are 100% right but many people don't seem to get this movie... It became a box office bomb :( It is still one of the best Disney movies of the last twenty years!
Anyone else feels like this would have been an amazing love duet? The words don't quite make sense when sung to some glowing wish orbs, but it's what you'd say to a lover.
They ARE singing to their 'loves', though. Magnifico loves his people (yes he actually DOES, but Asha kinda ruined it) and Asha loves her Grandfather. He is singing to the wishes of his people, she is singing it 'to' her granddad.
❤. I tear up every time I see this video. Especially when Asha takes and sees her Grandfather’s sweet wish. Makes me think about my Grandfather and what his wish could have been for me and my family before parting this world. 😢. Beautiful song in every sense.
At least I find it a slight improvement from Strange World over a year ago. I was a little worried how this one was going to turn out. But I came home relieved of what I got.
This is a love song. It fits Magnifico's relationship with the wishes, and only reinforces how he's a sincere and good king. It doesn't fit Asha's relationship with Magnifico, nor her relationship with the wishes, since she's biased towards one. Feels off that her adolescent passions should be portrayed as heroic, when they're just a part of growing up & impulsive like other teens' desires. Not exactly the heroine that I want my kids to be inspired by.
I didn't hear any of the other songs prior to when this finally came to Disney Plus but when this played at that time... Man. It's just one of those times where i wish i saw this in theaters with those dang speakers. Been a long time since a song like this got me teary-eyed at all. I don't get why the movie gets so much hate...I've already seen it 3 times and it just keeps its magic for me. The 3D/2D animation was somewhat strange for me at first, but in my opinion it's by far one of the best movies that disney published in the last few years. For me, Disney movies had lost their magic over the last years, but Wish brought it back."At all cost" is beautiful, magical, touching...and "This Wish" is so inspiring, especially the reprise just gives me goosebumps each time🥹🤌
The fact that this was supposed to be the song between Starboy and Asha.... man I wish they would've kept it but when i hear it I'm just gonna imagine them both singing this to each other. Would've been the best love song DIsney has made in a LONG time
It’s sad knowing this is Magnifico at his best, he once genuinely cares for the wishes and dreams of his people. Asha and he almost had a positive relationship from their shared desire to protect the wishes and Rosas. And as positive it was, the moment ended the moment she found her Saba’s wish. If she found the wish later, she may have started in being Mangnifco’s apprentice and build a bond with him as a friend, that May been a help in redeeming him later

It's so hard to find a song about feeling protected and safe and I am so happy this was made so I could add it to my "safety" list for those moments I don't feel safe or like anyone cares about protecting me ❤
The relationship between Asha and her _Saba_ is so sweet!!
This is the king not her dad….

Technically this was originally sang by Starboy instead of the king. And Starboy was revealed to be her grandfather but younger (her grandfather was originally dead-)
This is such beautiful song as hero and villain duet...
It also inspired song "Love is an Open Door" from Frozen
Also the fact that Love Is an Open Door doesn't sound romantic at all while this one does
Where did you read that this inspired love is an open door
the villain being Asha of course

The way Asha looks at Sabino's dream and sings to it 😭👌
I’m OBSESSED with this song. It’s one of my favourite Disney songs ever.
Man his voice is so calm
The water color animation made it so perfect.. I love all the songs from WISH OST. didn't know chris pine could make it so alive by his voice.
I am so glad my little sister seen this film. It is special to not just her but also me too
One thing I can admit that’s good about this movie is Chris Pine is a pretty good singer
I really find it hard for this man to be a villian. and this song is just beautiful.
You're not alone. But then when you look at it, his past hurt and loss he experienced fueled what he did to keep others from experiencing the hurt and loss he experienced. He was doing a bad thing with good intentions. She because of that, he lost himself along the way and forgot why he did what he did in the first place.
Asha is my favorite disney villain
And this is why I tend to be on the villains side. In the end he was relatable.
It was meant to be a love song duet between Asha and Starboy.
I thought I was the only one. I really liked him in the beginning. he just lost sight of the reason he build the kingdom in the first place. a victim of his past.
Starboy.... we so wish you were singing this with Asha instead.
Well, I don't see anyone trying to do anything to make it a reality, so... Also, no money excuses. There have been independent content creators who go far with few resources. If so many fans support the idea, let them all get together (or at least a bunch who can add what is necessary to give it quality) and do something.

I nearly cried listening to this song. It was love at first hearing and both Chris and Ariana did a fantastic job!!! Easily my favorite song of the movie! 😭💖
me too i love this song
i literally did cry... reminded me of my grandmother when asha looked at her sabas wish...hit home
I remember watching this in theaters. I was so mesmerized by how beautiful it was. I loved the film. Hopefully, in a few years people can look back at the film without hate.
Same when I saw it in theaters, I thought it was a beautiful movie
I really love how this movie shows how you can lower yourself to a point of no return
lmao
Love this song! Really had me rooting for Magnifico tbh, I wish he had a redemption at the end. I think he had good intentions but went awry with the power and fear of uncertainty.
Easily one of the best songs in the entire films. This and the reprise of This Wish gave me goosebumps and chills. Hopefully, this film gets more love over time, because it deserves it.
Absolutely 100 percent
The songs always go hard for no reason
Apart from some good songs, the story and characters were pretty bad and written poorly
@@jinkieez Only one buzzword? Why not use racist and nazi too while your at it 🤣 ,the entire story started because of Ashas greed, she wanted to steal her family's wishes from him and spends a lot of brain gymnastics to justify her theft, so she is not only a traitor and a thief, she is also the cause for everything bad happening in the movie 😆
@jinkieez Only one buzzword? Why not use more or did the YT censors hold you back? 😆 ,the funny thing is the entire story starts moving from Ashas greed, she wanted the working for the king perks before even getting the job so when she was told no she immediately decided to steal her parents wishes and did all the mental gymnastics needed to justify her theft, so shes not only a traitor and a thief, she is also the cause of all bad things that happens in the movie 😆
The very first time i watched this movie with my 3&7 year old this song made me overwhelmed with emotions ! I instantly teared up ! this song speaks to me as a mother the intense love i have my children and the need to protect them from the world. " I will protect you at all cost" hits really different when you really have people you love this much❤👨👩👧👦
Now I know how Jack Frost sings😮💨
[Chris Pine also voiced jack in the Rise of the Guardians so I’m having a fan girling moment rn hearing him sing ]
When we all realised it...yes. Yes we all had that immediate fangirl heart attack!
You should hear him in the movie Into the woods. He was pretty good there. But his voice in this song just makes me melt.
@@emilyglass5313 oh definitely! While that movie was definitely a low point for Disney, casting Chris Pine was a highlight!
@Alphawolf2017 Yyyyyeah. Not its best movie. I grew up with the stage play , and having Disney cut out a lot of the darker elements in Act 2, that just didn't sit right with me.
@@emilyglass5313 I know! I personally prefer the stage production, yet Disney made...an attempt 10 years ago...I won't say it was good...just...it was attempt...although I did rather like Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf.
The beauty of this song is that you can sing it to whoever you love, romantic or not.
I snot-cried in the theater at this scene. I was trying to hold it together sitting between my two daughters! The lyrics, the vocals, the harmonies, the cadence, the melody.....It's just such a beautiful song 😭

Oh c’mon! I would’ve loved seeing that!
No! Originally Asha's Grandfather was going to die, then he was going to come back as Star Boy.
@@EzraSkywalkerFett Nah thats completely wrong the Star Boy was a love interest for Asha so her singing this song with her Grandpa would be weird 😅
@@waverider9920 No! What I mentioned was revealed by the producers in an interview! Wish I would never have a romance! Because they are already past this stage.
Look at yourself in the mirror and sing this song. Or if no mirror, sing this to yourself. It’s powerful. Especially if you forgot how to love and protect yourself. Make this sort of loving promise to yourself. ♥️ On repeat.
Thank you to the writers and singers for such a beautiful song.
Despite being a duet between protagonist and villain, this is such a beautiful song that it tugs at my heartstrings.
Seriously when I hear it I get chills from how beautiful it is and the emotion and the feeling that is in the song ✨🫧💙
I can't get this song out of my head
More i watch this, more i understand.
"I will protect you"
Magnifico is talking to the power of this wishes, the power that he want and he will protect at all cost just for use it for himself;
Asha is talking to the people that create those wishes.
Same words, different meanings
I genuinely believe king magnifico had good intentions, he did originally and he has a good point, a wish cant be ambiguous, he’s traumatized and it’s protective, this song.
He didn’t know the wishes had power
Finally saw the movie yesterday and loved it! Just saying, this song shows the difference between Asha and Magnifico from the beginning and how they look at the wishes. Asha is fascinated, wants to keep the wishes safe and sound and want all of them come true. Magnifico just want to possess them like a collection, because having all wishes means he can contol others. Espeacially how Magnifico plays with them like it´s nothing, but the wishes embrace and surrounds Asha like a hug. This song is really deep.
I wish I had seen the storyboard to show what this song would be like with Asha, star boy
@@VitorFerreiraSodre I am sure the storyboard looked awesome
I saw it in the theater on my 23rd birthday, and I loved it too. It's one of my personal favorite movies of 2023.
@@janusthekitten9692I Feel like if Asha wasn't tempting him and if Magnifico got therapy he would be less overprotective
Let me remind you, Magnifico literally lost both his mom and dad, So it's probably the major reason he was so overprotective and acted too quickly, Magnifico was never a villain, he was being used by the people around him
This just made me love Chris Pine even more than I ever did. His voice! 😍
Great song. Glad that he and she did perfectly well singing on their scripts. 😊❤
I love this song , i keep singing all the time
You don't need to be a genius to know that they retooled a love song into this song. It shows greatly.
Noticed that too. It’s a beautiful song but kinda doesn’t fit their relationship
They want to do the same thing, but one lost the reason why (and themselves) along the way.
It sounds weird in the video. Sounds like they are saying each other but they are singing to the wishes (??
It sounds REALLY weird. You can tell this was a love song
It's still a love song.

Went 5 times to the movies to watch Wish... This part is my favorite. The song is absolutely beautiful, the animation is pure magic 💕
I honestly fell in love with this song ❤❤❤
This song was so great in the movie
Indefinitely :-)
When I first see the visuals of this song in the cinema, I was trully inlove how they sang the song on their own perspective and how the movement of the wish bubbles makes a good background of the song.
Man, the potential. If only they had gone with the original idea. IF ONLY…
😭
I listened to this song before I watched the movie and I thought they were singing about each other
Watching This In The Theaters Back In November Was Such A Beautiful Bond Of A Hero And Villain Singing Together. ❤🥰
@@artisannoteworthyFeel like he's also singing to his power and control he has over the wishes.

This is my favorite song from the movie there voices just go together so well
This song is one of the most beautifully animated scenes in the movie.
I have lost count of how many times I have listened to this song now
I didn't hear any of the other songs prior to when this finally came to Disney Plus but when this played at that time... Man. It's just one of those times where i wish i saw this in theaters with those dang speakers. Been a long time since a song like this got me teary-eyed at all.

The fact that this was supposed to be the song between Starboy and Asha.... man I wish they would've kept it but when i hear it I'm just gonna imagine them both singing this to each other. Would've been the best love song DIsney has made in a LONG time
If someone tried to hurt you
I dont see how that could happen,
I really love this song more than others in the movie❤❤
It’s sad knowing this is Magnifico at his best, he once genuinely cares for the wishes and dreams of his people.
Asha and he almost had a positive relationship from their shared desire to protect the wishes and Rosas. And as positive it was, the moment ended the moment she found her Saba’s wish.
If she found the wish later, she may have started in being Mangnifco’s apprentice and build a bond with him as a friend, that May been a help in redeeming him later
I couldn't stop watching Magnifico during this 🤩 he made the wishes look so pretty together!
