  • Veterans who have served their country and suffered a disability as a result deserve to receive benefits that help them live a comfortable life. However, navigating the complex system of veterans benefits can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to understanding the impact of multiple disabilities on overall benefits. This is where the VA Combined Ratings Table comes into play.
    What is the VA Combined Ratings Table?
    The VA Combined Ratings Table, also known as the Veteran's Benefits Administration (VBA) Schedule for Rating Disabilities, is a tool used by the Department of Veterans Affairs to determine the combined disability rating for veterans with more than one service-connected condition. It is based on a scale from 0 to 100%, with higher percentages representing greater disability and therefore more benefits.
    How Does it Work?
    When a veteran has multiple service-connected conditions, each individual condition will be rated separately on its own scale from 0 to 100%. The VA then uses a special formula, called the Combined Ratings Table, to combine these individual ratings and come up with an overall combined disability rating. This rating will determine the amount of monthly compensation and other benefits that the veteran is entitled to receive.
    Example:
    Let's take for example a veteran who has a service-connected knee injury rated at 30% and a service-connected back injury rated at 20%. Using the Combined Ratings Table, we can see that these two ratings do not simply add up to a combined rating of 50%. Instead, they are combined using a specific formula to give the veteran an overall combined disability rating of 44%. This percentage would then correspond with a certain amount of monthly compensation and other benefits.
    Why is it Important?
    Understanding the VA Combined Ratings Table is crucial for veterans who have more than one service-connected condition. It ensures that they receive fair and accurate compensation for their disabilities, taking into account the impact that multiple conditions can have on their life. It also helps veterans understand how each individual condition contributes to their overall disability rating and how much they are entitled to in terms of benefits.
    Additional Considerations
    It's important to note that while the VA Combined Ratings Table is used to determine benefits for veterans with multiple service-connected conditions, it does not apply to all types of benefits. For example, if a veteran is receiving compensation for a non-service-connected condition, that rating will not be factored into the combined ratings table.
    In conclusion, the VA Combined Ratings Table plays a crucial role in ensuring that veterans receive fair and accurate compensation for their disabilities. By understanding how it works and how it affects overall benefits, veterans can better navigate the complex system of veterans benefits and advocate for their rights. If you are a veteran with multiple service-connected conditions, make sure to familiarize yourself with the VA Combined Ratings Table and seek assistance from a veterans benefits counselor if needed. Remember, you have served your country and deserve to receive the support and resources you need to live a comfortable life. So never hesitate to reach out for help in understanding and accessing your entitled benefits. Your service should never be forgotten or overlooked, and the VA Combined Ratings Table is just one way that your sacrifices are recognized and honored. Keep advocating for yourself and other veterans, as together we can continue striving towards a better future for all who have served our nation.

    I hope I can use this opportunity to get my life to resemble some sense of normalcy.

      I have a similar situation budd. So glad you got your 100! That's great news. Just keep trying to stay in the game. Things should be a lot easier for you now at least financially.
      If I knew ya personally I'd take you out to celebrate!
      But no matter how bad things get, just please Don't give up. It's a wild world out there, and just because you are seeing more of the bad than the good doesn't mean the good is never doing to be yours.
      My heart goes out to you budd. Please don't give up. It will get better. And getting your 100 is proof! Even if it's in little incriments😇

    So the math formula is based on a simple limit curve.
    I believe the equation is roughly
    Y^2 = aX
    It's introduced in pre calculus but is properly covered in differential equations. (If you wanted to know exactly where in the educational system it is located)
    The curve essentially shows that the higher you go, the harder it is to get to the max.
    From there they block it off into blcoks of 10% at a time.
    So essentially you can make giant leaps in this curve with higher ratings.
    I wish they would just show people this curve with VA ratings attached. So many more vets would understand it if they showed the actual curve.

    You have several different disabilities and each one hits the 1-4 (44 which rounds down) . You could potentially be loosing $$. Why make it so damm difficult and just give you the 40 or 50. Keep the confusion out of it.
    It took me a total of 220 to get 100% P&T. And the ass kicker is when I was at 90% it took 70% more to gain 10%.

    How come the raters sign off on 10% ratings more than 20% and 30%. Even if you meet the criteria for 20% or 30%? Is it a budgeting formula? I've had dizziness, wooziness, and staggering episodes every since my blood pressure sky rocketed in service and was put on bp meds in my early 20s. They ignored my staggering feature to the dizziness, lightheadedness, wooziness episodes. The C&P examiner annotated the staggering on my DBQ. Shit is high rate ludicrous. I guess they just want me to go through the appeal hoops. It's just aggravating and wasteful when they dont get it right the first time.

    • @CombatMonkey11B
      @CombatMonkey11B 11 дней назад

      They reduce each rating, from highest to lowest starting at 100% and moving down. This determines how able bodied you are. So let’s say you have ratings of 70% 30% and 10%. So 100%-70%= 30% - 30% = 21% (20 rounded) - 10% = 18% (20 rounded) so you are 80% disabled and 20% able. They always subtract the % of what’s left, this is why it’s so hard to reach 100%.
      Here’s how hard it is to reach 100%. Let’s say you have ratings at 80, 10, 10, 10, you think that would be 110% right? But you’re subtracting 10% of 20% (=2) 10% of 18% (=16) and 10% of 16% (=14) which rounds down to 90%.
      So the high ratings come off first, then the lower ratings have a harder time reducing those last tens of percentages.

    • @wowzers1069

      Technically your VA doctor (if you are using VA health care) is required to write a nexus. A lot of the docs don't know that. Most vets will try to get their primary care provider to write the nexus - bad move. As an example - if you are seeing a podiatrist for a foot problem, get the podiatrist to write the nexus. Getting a nexus from the specialist gives it more authority as 'weighted' evidence for VA purposes and also puts the C&P examiner, who is usually a NP or PA, in the position of writing you a positive opinion - they are not likely to argue against your treating specialist who wrote the nexus.

    • @rogersmith7808
      @rogersmith7808 10 дней назад

      @@wowzers1069 You're referring to VHA Directive 1134(2) which requires the VA to assist in filling out VA forms. A nexus letter is not a form. Also, the directive discusses how your PCP doesn't have access to your STRs (service treatment records) so would be impossible for them to provide a nexus for any claim the vet is seeking a direct connection to their military service. It's possible the PCP could write a nexus letter for a secondary connection, however, most PCPs wouldn't even know how to write a nexus letter and unless they use the proper terminology ("at least as likely as not", etc) it will have very little weight when the claim is considered.

    • @wowzers1069
      @wowzers1069 10 дней назад

      @@rogersmith7808 Actually I'm not referring to that. The VA is required to fill out a nexus if they have records to support it. Some VA clinics even have offices that will write out a nexus and DBQ, Tampa has such an office. The VA clinic near Melbourne FL has a nexus form for the docs to fill out. Again, you are in error in your last sentence. The primary care doctor who treats the individual or the specialist who treats the individual - who has hands on experience, has ordered the MRI's, xrays, and so on is considered weighted evidence versus a bought and paid for nexus letter. I have helped many vets get rated, and have NEVER lost a case. I have dealt with people like you who 'think they know' - but don't. Stop giving out bad info, you are the problem.

    • @rogersmith7808
      @rogersmith7808 10 дней назад

      @@wowzers1069 Just because your clinic near Melbourne, FL does this doesn't mean every VA everywhere does this. And if they provide this service then it's based on the directive I quoted. And my information from an actual VA directive and not from what your personal experience may or may not be. It looks like there are several VA facilities near Melbourne, which one are you speaking of?
