I completely agree. I comment sometimes and it’s never anything negative but for the most part I just eat my dinner and enjoy their reactions and have a good laugh. It really makes my week.

Same!! I have been watching since the first I love my baby but... and I hardly ever look at the comments or comment myself. It's sad that there's drama when I find this such a positive and relaxing place. Whit and Timmy are pure souls that genuinely transmit peace and lightness.

Seeing the situation between Lauren and Heidi as a 30 something married father is totally different than a 22 single female moving to LA for a TV show with her best friend. LC and Heidi probably talked about how they would go out and have fun together, think sex in the city. Then Heidi got wifed up and left her alone all the while her boyfriend was trying to become the star of the show and ruin Laurens reputation. Of course Lauren felt some type of way. The girls had it all planned out until Spencer came in.
Um no. Did you forget that Lauren was in an abusive relationship with Jason before Spencer even came into the picture? Sure they made out Spencer to be an asshole but in reality if Lauren also had a bf at the same time than she wouldn't be crazy jealous of Heidi and treat her like crap. Also Lauren has always had this "I'm better than everyone" attitude and I always found it really ugly.

I don't think so and Jason was an even bigger POS than they made Spencer out to be. Jason was literally physically violent with her. The way he put his hand on her neck on new years eve was a huge red flag to physically violence. At any rate I would never make a friend choose between me or her bf. That's classic jealous behavior. Sure you can say how you feel and be supportive but when ur at a point that your "friend" is making you choose, than that person is not your friend

Yes of course lauren wanted nothing to do with him after that and especially after she had just been in her own abusive relationship she didn't want that for her friend. Lauren also didn't talk bad to heidi about Spencer unless heidi bought it up but Spencer took every chance he could to turn heidi against lauren because he didn't like that he couldn't manipulate lauren so had to get heidi to hate her like he did with heidi and audrina and like he later does with heidi and her family, you can't say it's all lauren when Spencer being in heidis ear is literally the only common denominator in all of heidis breakdowns with friends and family.

I think you should always do whats best for you...whatever is healthy for you and good for your wellbeing so if you need to quit the comments then you do that. In regards to people leaving negative comments...i see it but i don't get into it...just ignore ignore ignore. I know that might be hard but honestly it will eat you up and remember its the minority. Yes nice episode and is always a pleasure to see and know about you guys! Seriously...word of Italian gentleman. And I can tell that Timmy is right when he defend justice or agree to plan even a dinner with friends in advance if you are working...saves my nerves: I have two planners or agendas one for work and one for my family and friends compromises. For my job I travel where I am needed for that all my appointment or dates are organised by all in advance. I love my job and I don't want to lose it and as a Italian I love my relatives too... neutrality, trust and organisation are saving me in both.
I think Heidi is 'that girl' who hung around the group to meet guys, you don't see them for dust once they get one, then they mysteriously reappear when they're looking for a replacement, and repeat cycle.. 😂 When you're older you recognise that that's just how an opportunist at work and it's not about you, but when you're younger it can feel like a personal rejection, and I guess also a betrayal if you believed it was a genuine friendship 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe but I think Lauren is incredibly rigid. She’s that girl who thinks sex and the city is goals. Everyone doesn’t want a high maintenance friend who has to vet and approve all their boyfriends.
My take on Lauren and Heidi iss I am assuming that Lauren realised that Heidi sort of used her for fame and to get a spot on the show. As soon as her 'job' was secure without having to be BFFs with Lauren her priorities shifted drastically. It must have been hard for lauren to try form authentic friendships without worrying who is her real friend and who is using her.
Bingo. Lauren expressed that it was hard to trust people because she didn't know if they genuinely liked her or if they wanted to be on her show. The Hills were HUGE and at its height she found plenty of her cast members running to the media and planting stories, I think at this point Lauren was over being disappointed all the time she chose to be cordial until the ultimate betrayal. I remember at the time the show was very divisive.
@@Ladyrocksavage that's sad bc Audrina literally was BROUGHT on the show just to be a part of the show, she talks about it. I think Heidi was Lauren's real friend, but also wanted her own fame and a life with Spencer so she didn't have as much time for LC as Audrina did since it was Audrina's only job. MTV ran with it to make Heidi the bad guy & Audrina the good one. I don't think either were bad, or was just manipulated to create drama & LC didn't know what was real vs fake.
I feel like Lauren was in the single mindset and so she wanted her friends to be single as well. Everyone has different views....watching the show as a late teen early 20 something I was 100 on Lauren's side. Being 32 and having my own family, and having done a lot of maturing I see things differently. I'm not condoning what the show wrote Spencer to have done....but at the end of the day Lauren was already pushing Heidi to choose before any of the real drama went down. Saying "I would never choose a guy over a friend" is a very young, naive statement to make. When you marry your spouse you are choosing them above everyone. You aren't going to be single, sex and the city friends your entire life. All the little nuances that went on between everyone was typical friend group drama for that age. All of them were wrong at some point. Knowing now th4 show was fake, a d that Spencer has said that he was playing a role, it makes you look at it all very differently.
Timmy, first off, I appreciate the first 5 minutes of this video. You cant make everyone happy all the time. Lets be honest, we all came here for Whitney at first, but have seriously fell in love with who you are Timmy. Dont stop being you. Does anyone else see reality shows a bit differently now thanks to all of Timmy’s insights? Like I’ll be watching a reality show and be thinking in Timmy’s voice “that was 100% edited” 😂
To me, The Hills was always really obviously edited, and badly at times, so I think The Hills in general made me critical of all reality shows LOL 😂 But I definitely like Timmy’s insights into how they set up certain scenes and also picking out when a line is just dubbed into the scene and the person didn’t actually say it (particularly in the The City reaction vids).
You should watch Unreal! It’s on Hulu now . That’s when I first started to look at reality though shows differently and see how the producers come up with their shots. It’s a show about the producers on a bachelor-like series and the first seasons are sooo good and insightful.
Also, I think Timmy looks at it differently because he’s a guy. Every girl I know has felt this way about a friendship at some point. Its hard to adjust too especially when your young and want to enjoy your new life with your best friend but feel like a boy is coming in between
Lauren being mad about having to schedule dinner makes sense to me if you think about how young she is and what she might have imagined living with a roommate/best friend would be like. At this age, before serious relationships, friends are always hanging out and theres more jealously about not being available to your friends.

@@roseesahli4861 It's a tale as old as time. All friendships struggle when one of the friends is in a relationship, especially if the friend and significant other don't get along. All friends miss their friend and want more time with them. It's especially bad when the significant other is a jerk.
totally agree. also, these issues with friends and relationships seems like life or death at the age of 20-23. we have to remember how young Lauren and Heidi are here and that's why some of these reactions are so dramatic. of course Timmy wouldn't get mad at this cause they're mature now. but at the time Lauren probably was very mad about losing her bestfriend/roommate. we all would definitely cringe if we looked back on how we reacted to things in our early 20's

I still side with Lauren. You can tell she’s just upset because she feels like she’s losing a friendship. We’ve all had friends who forget about their friends as soon as they get a new boyfriend and it’s never nice
especially if you're the friend who's still putting in effort all the time and the other person doesn't seem to care or blows you off all the time and is ALSO involved with someone that you can tell is going to destroy them as a person. it's a very, very difficult situation to be in.
But that’s the thing she’s not losing a friendship, her friends are growing up. Eventually people tend to form their own families, friendships can’t be the top of your priority list all the time.
From my own person experience: I feel like Lauren’s perspective of “I would never choose a guy over a friend” or “I shouldn’t have to schedule dinner with my best friend” is kind of a common thing between friends who have grown up together. When you are younger, even in high school, there is more of an emphasis on keeping a healthy balance between spending time with a significant other and your friends. Obviously that balance is still important as an adult, but when you get older and dating gets more “serious” that balance naturally shifts. And I think that transition is hard for a lot of friendships because you’re spending less and less time with someone you used to do everyyyything with. Ya know? Pls lmk if anyone experienced this growing up bc I’ve been in both Lauren and Heidi’s position!

I completely agree. Even though I think they've never really been friends, this progression of being annoyed that friends won't just naturally "hang out" with you most of the time because of work and boyfriends is believable and doesn't seem necessarily fake.

With the whole Lauren, Heidi, dinner thing, I think Lauren meant generally when you live with someone you would usually have dinner together. But Lauren is frustrated because Heidi is never there anymore so they have to schedule dinners like you would with a friend you don't live with

Lauren feels used and maybe Heidi did use her, offered her a cab ride during college on San Francisco, knowing Lauren was a already the star in Laguna beach, moved to Laguna beach with Lauren, then moved with her to LA, then met Spencer who used Brody to get famous, then they both got together because they knew they could capitalise on their relationship and dumped both Brody and Lauren!

I don’t think LC was upset with Heidi about the state of her relationship. What I think happened is that Lauren lost respect for Heidi when she went back to Spencer who treated her and her friends badly. I’ve had this happen before in real life. And I’ve been on both sides. And to Tim’s point about them not being real friends. I think that’s true but I think Lauren thought they WERE friends and is realizing now that Heidi may be more of an “opportunity” or a “circumstance” friend.
Also Heidi made a lot of decisions Lauren just didn’t fundamentally agree with...like school and stuff. The spencer thing was kinda just the last straw...IMO
I think everything you said is 100% valid. And truth be told, it is a TV show, and so a lot of what we think is going on is pure speculation anyway. I can’t believe people have been fighting about it in previous comments.

Exactly. I feel like because they said the show was fake people think everything was fake. I get the impression that most of the situations are real but the producers would tell Lauren to talk about things (or fake phone conversations) from time to time. I remember Lauren saying in an interview that they would get text from the producers to talk about things.

I will say - I’ve been in this position and a similar situation and I fully get where Lauren is coming from. It’s hard to feel pushed aside and only important if a friend has time when your dynamic changes for a negative reason. Friendship is so different at that age, especially when it’s a roommate situation.
I think your guys thoughts on Lauren & hiedi’s friendship are correct coming from 30 year olds but being 20 is a whole different mindset that can be immature thinking back 10 years

Came here to say I totally feel Lauren being upset with Heidi over dinner! She def seems annoyed that her best friend is MIA most of the time now and I think she recognizes the end of their friendship. She totally has the right to be upset when her friend doesn’t want to spend the same amount of time with her that she used too. We all know ppl grow up and get SO’s but can’t we also remember how it felt the first time that happened with us and our best friends? I can totally remember being hurt and upset and not fully getting that like friendships evolve and sometimes end because friends start living their own life that is no longer intertwined with ours
Also I do think when you were 20 years old, you measured closeness with friends / roommates by how involved friends were and just expecting they’d be available, but then you schedule plans with friends you weren’t as close with. So I think it does make sense for that stage of life.
100% agree. Young and have expectations of how life is going to be V.S. How it turns out to be. Ex in season 1 Lauren expected Heidi and her to live together and go to school. So when Heidi quit she was upset because thats not what she had thought in her mind.

I think in your early twenties people start to get into legitimately serious relationships for the first time. And so for the first time, people have to start navigating that balance between relationship and friendships. Looking back, it's easy to see that friendships change and shift as peoples' priorities change while they grow. But in the moment, if it's happening for the first time, it can feel like a friend is abandoning you. If you add the layer of not liking the significant other, then it's easy to see how Lauren would be upset about all the changes to her and Heidi's friendship. I'm sure now that she's older and more mature, she would be more accepting of a friendship changing to allow space for a significant relationship. And also she wouldn't have to play up that conflict for a show now 😉

I agree with Whitney on her pov of the Lauren Heidi situation. Also Lauren has every right to be frustrated having to schedule a dinner with her roommate and best friend when she said in a previous episode that out of an entire month Heidi had spent a couple nights at their apartment. Heidi moved too fast in this relationship and let it take over all aspects of her life to a point that she lost her friends.
The sister support just makes me cry. I have two sisters, and we've been close before but also not close. It makes me so sad. But I love how much Whitney supports her sisters.

I think what you guys are forgetting with the whole Lauren & Heidi thing is they were suuuuuper young at this point. When I was their age I was with my best friend all the time! Now as an adult I do have to schedule time with my friends. They also were living together, when I had roommates most days/nights we saw each other at some point and had a little bit of time to hang. It seems Heidi is usually gone with Spencer so Lauren isn’t even getting that time.

I love how much attention Timmy pays to how great you look in every scene & your outfits throughout the show. it’s sad that the comments get like that. i was looking at the i love my baby but vids and the comments are disabled prob bc of nasty comments. it’s so unhelpful and just unproductive.
I totally get why Timmy could interpret the phone convo between Lauren and Heidi that way but I think he's missing out on the knowledge of how intense and close female friendships can be. No one wants to feel left out or left behind and I think that's also part of Lauren being upset at the Jen Bunny sitch, that they all left without her and went to an afterparty and someone else's place and then Jen calls to confirm they left her and are still hanging out together AND she wants to hook up with Brody. Whether they actually did or not. It seems to me like she feels majorly left out by Heidi and that group too. She's acting annoyed because she's hurt by how drastically her friendship with Heidi has changed and she's putting up a wall. Sure, some production/editing could be at play too, but I don't think they manufactured the hurt and frustration someone feels when a friend ditches them. I think my theory about Lauren/Heidi lies somewhere in the middle of Whit and Timmy's opinions. I agree with Timmy in that I don't think Lauren ever really thought of Heidi as her best friend, more just a friend she moved to LA and did this show with. I think Heidi always liked her and considered her more of a best friend, than Lauren did with Heidi. BUT I think seeing Heidi abandon her for Spencer triggered something a little possessive in her maybe? Something along the lines of "Okay Heidi wasn't MY best friend, but I was supposed to be HERS and she just DROPPED me?" Her issue, to me, comes across more as hurt/frustration that Heidi doesn't need her as much as she used to, rather than someone who lost someone who actually meant something to her. Additionally, I think Lauren liked being the grown up of the two of them, the one who did school and had a great internship, while Heidi was more of a flighty "mess". It probably made Lauren feel good to be that person; a little schadenfreude. But the one area Lauren isn't excelling in is her relationships with men, and here's Heidi with a pretty serious boyfriend, as well as getting her life together. The power dynamic has switched between them a little, and Lauren doesn't like that. So relating all this specifically to the scheduling of dinner. Lauren was used to Heidi always being available for dinner with her because Heidi had nothing else going on and her friendship with Lauren was pretty much her priority. But Lauren doesn't enjoy knowing she isn't the most important thing to Heidi anymore (again, regardless of how important Heidi was to her, because this is not an equal relationship) and it's now Heidi's time needs to be scheduled. To Lauren, Heidi should always be available when she needs her. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I’m so glad that I found this series yesterday!! Literally been binging since then lol. I loved The Hills (and loved Whitney on there ❤️) growing up and it’s so fun to watch now that I’m older than they are on this show. And I LIVE for the commentary from y’all it’s great!
I do think objectively Lauren "overreacts" to Heidi spending time with Spencer, but she also is probably just a bit lonely and still hurt from the loss of Jason and I think she was using Heidi as her new attachment figure to fill that missing void. She shouldn't really be doing that because it makes her more sensitive that she should be and putting unnecessary amounts of pressure on Heidi, but I can at least understand why she is doing it.
I think it just stems from his assumption that the whole friendship was scripted for the show, so I see why he doesn't believe it anytime Lauren gets so upset. In a real life scenario her being upset would of course absolutely make sense.

Seeing the situation between Lauren and Heidi as a 30 something married father is totally different than a 22 single female moving to LA for a TV show with her best friend. LC and Heidi probably talked about how they would go out and have fun together, think sex in the city. Then Heidi got wifed up and left her alone all the while her boyfriend was trying to become the star of the show and ruin Laurens reputation. Of course Lauren felt some type of way. The girls had it all planned out until Spencer came in.

Sure they made out Spencer to be an asshole but in reality if Lauren also had a bf at the same time than she wouldn't be crazy jealous of Heidi and treat her like crap. Yes of course lauren wanted nothing to do with him after that and especially after she had just been in her own abusive relationship she didn't want that for her friend. Lauren also didn't talk bad to heidi about Spencer unless heidi bought it up but Spencer took every chance he could to turn heidi against lauren because he didn't like that he couldn't manipulate lauren so had to get heidi to hate her like he did with heidi and audrina and like he later does with heidi and her family, you can't say it's all lauren when Spencer being in heidis ear is literally the only common denominator in all of heidis breakdowns with friends and family.

Yes nice episode and is always a pleasure to see and know about you guys! Seriously...word of Italian gentleman. And I can tell that Timmy is right when he defend justice or agree to plan even a dinner with friends in advance if you are working...saves my nerves: I have two planners or agendas one for work and one for my family and friends compromises. For my job I travel where I am needed for that all my appointment or dates are organised by all in advance. I love my job and I don't want to lose it and as a Italian I love my relatives too... neutrality, trust and organisation are saving me in both.
I think Heidi is 'that girl' who hung around the group to meet guys, you don't see them for dust once they get one, then they mysteriously reappear when they're looking for a replacement, and repeat cycle.. 😂 When you're older you recognise that that's just how an opportunist at work and it's not about you, but when you're younger it can feel like a personal rejection, and I guess also a betrayal if you believed it was a genuine friendship 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe but I think Lauren is incredibly rigid. She’s that girl who thinks sex and the city is goals. Everyone doesn’t want a high maintenance friend who has to vet and approve all their boyfriends.

My take on Lauren and Heidi iss I am assuming that Lauren realised that Heidi sort of used her for fame and to get a spot on the show. As soon as her 'job' was secure without having to be BFFs with Lauren her priorities shifted drastically. It must have been hard for lauren to try form authentic friendships without worrying who is her real friend and who is using her.
Bingo. Lauren expressed that it was hard to trust people because she didn't know if they genuinely liked her or if they wanted to be on her show. The Hills were HUGE and at its height she found plenty of her cast members running to the media and planting stories, I think at this point Lauren was over being disappointed all the time she chose to be cordial until the ultimate betrayal.
I remember at the time the show was very divisive.

I think Heidi was Lauren's real friend, but also wanted her own fame and a life with Spencer so she didn't have as much time for LC as Audrina did since it was Audrina's only job. MTV ran with it to make Heidi the bad guy & Audrina the good one. I don't think either were bad, or was just manipulated to create drama & LC didn't know what was real vs fake.
I feel like Lauren was in the single mindset and so she wanted her friends to be single as well. Everyone has different views....watching the show as a late teen early 20 something I was 100 on Lauren's side. Being 32 and having my own family, and having done a lot of maturing I see things differently. I'm not condoning what the show wrote Spencer to have done....but at the end of the day Lauren was already pushing Heidi to choose before any of the real drama went down. Saying "I would never choose a guy over a friend" is a very young, naive statement to make. When you marry your spouse you are choosing them above everyone. You aren't going to be single, sex and the city friends your entire life. All the little nuances that went on between everyone was typical friend group drama for that age. All of them were wrong at some point. Knowing now th4 show was fake, a d that Spencer has said that he was playing a role, it makes you look at it all very differently.

Does anyone else see reality shows a bit differently now thanks to all of Timmy’s insights? Like I’ll be watching a reality show and be thinking in Timmy’s voice “that was 100% edited” 😂
To me, The Hills was always really obviously edited, and badly at times, so I think The Hills in general made me critical of all reality shows LOL 😂 But I definitely like Timmy’s insights into how they set up certain scenes and also picking out when a line is just dubbed into the scene and the person didn’t actually say it (particularly in the The City reaction vids).

You should watch Unreal! It’s on Hulu now . That’s when I first started to look at reality though shows differently and see how the producers come up with their shots. It’s a show about the producers on a bachelor-like series and the first seasons are sooo good and insightful.
I just love how in every episode Timmy always tells Whitney how beautiful, gorgeous, stunning she is in basically every single scene she pops up in 🥰

Lauren being mad about having to schedule dinner makes sense to me if you think about how young she is and what she might have imagined living with a roommate/best friend would be like. At this age, before serious relationships, friends are always hanging out and theres more jealously about not being available to your friends.

totally agree. also, these issues with friends and relationships seems like life or death at the age of 20-23. we have to remember how young Lauren and Heidi are here and that's why some of these reactions are so dramatic. of course Timmy wouldn't get mad at this cause they're mature now. but at the time Lauren probably was very mad about losing her bestfriend/roommate. we all would definitely cringe if we looked back on how we reacted to things in our early 20's

But that’s the thing she’s not losing a friendship, her friends are growing up. Eventually people tend to form their own families, friendships can’t be the top of your priority list all the time.
From my own person experience: I feel like Lauren’s perspective of “I would never choose a guy over a friend” or “I shouldn’t have to schedule dinner with my best friend” is kind of a common thing between friends who have grown up together. When you are younger, even in high school, there is more of an emphasis on keeping a healthy balance between spending time with a significant other and your friends. Obviously that balance is still important as an adult, but when you get older and dating gets more “serious” that balance naturally shifts. And I think that transition is hard for a lot of friendships because you’re spending less and less time with someone you used to do everyyyything with. Ya know? Pls lmk if anyone experienced this growing up bc I’ve been in both Lauren and Heidi’s position!
So her hatred for Spencer is prob a combo of all the bad stuff that’s happened, plus feeling like she’s being replaced/losing her friend.

Lauren feels used and maybe Heidi did use her, offered her a cab ride during college on San Francisco, knowing Lauren was a already the star in Laguna beach, moved to Laguna beach with Lauren, then moved with her to LA, then met Spencer who used Brody to get famous, then they both got together because they knew they could capitalise on their relationship and dumped both Brody and Lauren!

I don’t think LC was upset with Heidi about the state of her relationship. What I think happened is that Lauren lost respect for Heidi when she went back to Spencer who treated her and her friends badly. I’ve had this happen before in real life. And I’ve been on both sides. And to Tim’s point about them not being real friends. I think that’s true but I think Lauren thought they WERE friends and is realizing now that Heidi may be more of an “opportunity” or a “circumstance” friend.

Exactly. I feel like because they said the show was fake people think everything was fake. I get the impression that most of the situations are real but the producers would tell Lauren to talk about things (or fake phone conversations) from time to time. I remember Lauren saying in an interview that they would get text from the producers to talk about things.

I will say - I’ve been in this position and a similar situation and I fully get where Lauren is coming from. It’s hard to feel pushed aside and only important if a friend has time when your dynamic changes for a negative reason. Friendship is so different at that age, especially when it’s a roommate situation.

Came here to say I totally feel Lauren being upset with Heidi over dinner! She def seems annoyed that her best friend is MIA most of the time now and I think she recognizes the end of their friendship. She totally has the right to be upset when her friend doesn’t want to spend the same amount of time with her that she used too. We all know ppl grow up and get SO’s but can’t we also remember how it felt the first time that happened with us and our best friends? I can totally remember being hurt and upset and not fully getting that like friendships evolve and sometimes end because friends start living their own life that is no longer intertwined with ours
Also I do think when you were 20 years old, you measured closeness with friends / roommates by how involved friends were and just expecting they’d be available, but then you schedule plans with friends you weren’t as close with. So I think it does make sense for that stage of life.

100% agree. Young and have expectations of how life is going to be V.S. How it turns out to be. Ex in season 1 Lauren expected Heidi and her to live together and go to school. So when Heidi quit she was upset because thats not what she had thought in her mind.

I think in your early twenties people start to get into legitimately serious relationships for the first time. And so for the first time, people have to start navigating that balance between relationship and friendships. Looking back, it's easy to see that friendships change and shift as peoples' priorities change while they grow. But in the moment, if it's happening for the first time, it can feel like a friend is abandoning you. If you add the layer of not liking the significant other, then it's easy to see how Lauren would be upset about all the changes to her and Heidi's friendship. I'm sure now that she's older and more mature, she would be more accepting of a friendship changing to allow space for a significant relationship. And also she wouldn't have to play up that conflict for a show now 😉

I agree with Whitney on her pov of the Lauren Heidi situation. Also Lauren has every right to be frustrated having to schedule a dinner with her roommate and best friend when she said in a previous episode that out of an entire month Heidi had spent a couple nights at their apartment. Heidi moved too fast in this relationship and let it take over all aspects of her life to a point that she lost her friends.
The sister support just makes me cry. I have two sisters, and we've been close before but also not close. It makes me so sad. But I love how much Whitney supports her sisters.

I think what you guys are forgetting with the whole Lauren & Heidi thing is they were suuuuuper young at this point. When I was their age I was with my best friend all the time! Now as an adult I do have to schedule time with my friends. They also were living together, when I had roommates most days/nights we saw each other at some point and had a little bit of time to hang. It seems Heidi is usually gone with Spencer so Lauren isn’t even getting that time.

I totally get why Timmy could interpret the phone convo between Lauren and Heidi that way but I think he's missing out on the knowledge of how intense and close female friendships can be. No one wants to feel left out or left behind and I think that's also part of Lauren being upset at the Jen Bunny sitch, that they all left without her and went to an afterparty and someone else's place and then Jen calls to confirm they left her and are still hanging out together AND she wants to hook up with Brody. Whether they actually did or not. It seems to me like she feels majorly left out by Heidi and that group too. She's acting annoyed because she's hurt by how drastically her friendship with Heidi has changed and she's putting up a wall. Sure, some production/editing could be at play too, but I don't think they manufactured the hurt and frustration someone feels when a friend ditches them.

I think my theory about Lauren/Heidi lies somewhere in the middle of Whit and Timmy's opinions. I agree with Timmy in that I don't think Lauren ever really thought of Heidi as her best friend, more just a friend she moved to LA and did this show with. I think Heidi always liked her and considered her more of a best friend, than Lauren did with Heidi. BUT I think seeing Heidi abandon her for Spencer triggered something a little possessive in her maybe? Something along the lines of "Okay Heidi wasn't MY best friend, but I was supposed to be HERS and she just DROPPED me?" Her issue, to me, comes across more as hurt/frustration that Heidi doesn't need her as much as she used to, rather than someone who lost someone who actually meant something to her. Additionally, I think Lauren liked being the grown up of the two of them, the one who did school and had a great internship, while Heidi was more of a flighty "mess". It probably made Lauren feel good to be that person; a little schadenfreude. But the one area Lauren isn't excelling in is her relationships with men, and here's Heidi with a pretty serious boyfriend, as well as getting her life together. The power dynamic has switched between them a little, and Lauren doesn't like that. So relating all this specifically to the scheduling of dinner. Lauren was used to Heidi always being available for dinner with her because Heidi had nothing else going on and her friendship with Lauren was pretty much her priority. But Lauren doesn't enjoy knowing she isn't the most important thing to Heidi anymore (again, regardless of how important Heidi was to her, because this is not an equal relationship) and it's now Heidi's time needs to be scheduled. To Lauren, Heidi should always be available when she needs her. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I’m so glad that I found this series yesterday!! Literally been binging since then lol. I loved The Hills (and loved Whitney on there ❤️) growing up and it’s so fun to watch now that I’m older than they are on this show. And I LIVE for the commentary from y’all it’s great!
I do think objectively Lauren "overreacts" to Heidi spending time with Spencer, but she also is probably just a bit lonely and still hurt from the loss of Jason and I think she was using Heidi as her new attachment figure to fill that missing void. She shouldn't really be doing that because it makes her more sensitive that she should be and putting unnecessary amounts of pressure on Heidi, but I can at least understand why she is doing it.
Yes, I agree. Just because someone is being irrational, doesn't mean they are being disingenuous.
I think it just stems from his assumption that the whole friendship was scripted for the show, so I see why he doesn't believe it anytime Lauren gets so upset. In a real life scenario her being upset would of course absolutely make sense.
