That bit were Huell was shaking his head at no rings was a GREAT touch.
Howard is the one person that can see that Jimmy is putting up a facade as "Saul Goodman". He knows that he never has got over Chuck's death, especially since Jimmy feels responsible for it. So in response Jimmy lashes out on Howard because he can see the truth. Hence why you see the shot of Jimmy staring at the family with remorse, while the other half of his face is mirrored (the bad side). At the moment, Jimmy still has a sliver of decency and heart in him...but it's slowly but surely fading away, just like the ending shot in this episode.
I also love how during the trial there is black mold (I think that's what it is) on the ceiling but only on Jimmy's side
I think Jimmy Hates Howard because he's in denial. He knows he's somewhat responsible for Chucks death since he got the malpractice removed but that's too much for him to accept so instead he blames Howard for forcing Chuck out of the firm. Jimmy won't confront his feelings about Chuck or his death and the last words Chuck said to him give him more reason to not confront his feelings.
Jimmy is full projecting here. He hides all his emotions, because he can't face them. The hatred he shows against Howard is the what he feels towards himself. "Im like a God in human clothing"? He doesn't feel like that at all. He won an unjust case, saving the murderer and even the trial wasn't his success, Mike did all the work, Jimmy was just a puppet. He feels insignificant and conflicted.
People keep saying "this and that is the moment Jimmy becomes Saul Goodmen" not realizing he never becomes that character. Saul Goodmen is jsut a persona Jimmy hides behind, to not face his true self.
His brothers last words to him was that Jimmy will always hurt people around him, then feel remorse and do it again anyway, so just stop the remorse and accept what he is. Jimmy took his advice and "became" Saul Goodmen the exact character Chuck described, but that's not Jimmy. We should know it because from time to time he lets out his real emotions, but only when noone else sees it.
Bagman AND Bad Choice Road next week? Glorious
When water/ice is dropped onto hot oil, it instantly turns to gas, expanding/causes an explosion. So when the frozen chicken began to thaw, it slid down the tray Into the deep fryer
Glorious, poetic realism.
Almost as delicious as I imagine Gus's chicken to be.
@@MrHarbltron this episode made me very hungry.
@Offkey Dreams if the fryers are off then yes, it would go down exactly how it did in the show. Deep fryers like the ones in the show use pilot lights/flames to heat the oil. So filling the room with flammable gas probably wouldn't last very long
This string of episodes is the best this show has been thus far. I truly don't know how Gilligan & crew pull it off so effortlessly.
It’s thanks to Peter Gould mostly not Gilligan
@@kenvaldivia10 Yep. Gilligan only directed some episodes this season.
Peter Gould deserves more recognition better caul Saul is his baby!
As people have said, Peter Gould deserves at least equal cred as showrunner. BUT Vince Gilligan directed “Bagman”, which is one of - if not _the_ - best episode of the series thus far.
Saul's treatment of Howard. He sees Chuck in Howard. It's all about his brother. So when he says you look down on me you pity me he is talking to his brother. I shoot lightning bolts from my fingertips. Yes its narcissistic but it is also and insecurity. You dont think I'm good enough but I will show you type of deal. He really is projecting his feelings toward Chuck on Howard.
The Emmy snub of this season is a crime. Not even a nomination for Odenkirk or Seahorn. Next year better be a damn landslide of Emmy's ala Shitts Creek.
Jimmy never shoot a lightning from his finger tips in future episodes and in Breaking Bad. What a glaring plot hole. Disappointing
Hey, there's still the final season, we never know.
In the first five minutes of the first episode of season 6, he’s gunna kill the cab driver with force lightning
What about lazer tag
"I know Jimmy's great in... some aspects..."
The word you're looking for is "bed"...
I stole this from some one smarter than me, but Kim is attracted to situations that are falling apart. Where she will be the one holding it together. And if everything is fine without her she gets kind of bored.
This very much comes into play in Bad Choice Road
It was me that Kellds47 stole it from. It's true, I'm really smart.
This does not sound like her at all. Terrible theory dude
See, because it's like "Spice Girls" but it's "Curls" like curly fr---... ah, never mind.
Earlier, Gus adamantly denied ever using frozen chickens. The only time he did use a frozen chicken was to blow up his own restaurant
Abi this look is completely killer on you, you look like the worlds coolest art teacher
i was gonna say! she looks awesome!
so interesting little thing about the "lightning bolt" line.
Chuck had an allergy to electricity. but that allergy was really just his contempt for his brother physically manifest. the worse he hated Jimmy the more his allergy bothered him.
so it's interesting that Jimmy would imply that he can shoot lightning.
Another great ending. Saul was insulted by Howard's offer. He was trying to move on from everything having to do with Chuck and seeing Howard had moved on better then offered a job upset him. He felt like it was Howard pitying him and looking down on him again. That scene at the end was also him projecting a lot. He is definitely insecure at his new role but he can't let Howard know that.
The next 3 episodes are the best of the whole series so far. The next 1 is especially amazing.
@@zoraspeak So true, I do sympathize with Howard here and Jimmy is obviously lashing out due to his own emotional issues, but I think a lot of viewers don't think about it through Jimmy's eyes as much, don't see where he's coming from. Which is interesting to me because I felt a lot of Breaking Bad viewers didn't sympathize with the supporting characters enough (especially Skyler). It's kinda flipped here.
Back in Season 2 or 3, Kevin said there's nothing he hates more than a man who can't admit to his mistakes; which was in relation to Chuck, so yah it's in his character to take this well.
How folks can like a guy like Jimmy is beyond me, especially after the hate he throws at Howard and didn't do anything to him.
I mean yeah, he's definitely clearly in the wrong, but it's due to his own emotional trauma he never confronts, not because Howard did anything wrong really. And it's not a simple like/dislike binary. Everyone has likable and unlikable qualities in this show.
Hes way more likeable than he was in better call saul though lol
Because he's an incredibly written and sympathetic character despite all of that? Jimmy is both a shitty human, and a genuinely good guy.
Can't wait for the next episode!
*BAGMAN, BAYBEEEEE*
You don't know how that happened with the chicken!? try throwing something frozen (or even water) into boiling oil to see what happens.. lol (No, don't do that!)
love you two!!! another great reaction!!! the last 3 episodes are great!!!
I knew it wasn't gonna happen, but when Gus was present his curly fries, I really wanted him to reveal that he was putting meth on the menu and everyone would just clap.
Gus isn't in the meth business yet. He is still dealing cocaine for Eladio at this point.
I love Rhea Seehorn's take on the, er, wedding: "Was there any other way these two would have gotten married? There's no way in hell Kim's had scrapbooks of dresses she wanted since she was 11."
Haha Abi so quick to throw the whiskey.
I never understood the whole "she deserves better" thing, what about love?
I mean when there is no real love in RS i get it, but if people love each other, then these simple concepts dont apply.
If you really love somebody you want to stay with them no matter what.
Obviously it can be unhealthy, but thats the price you pay for feeling so damn good.
BB: "That car's going to explode! That door handle might explode, don't touch it! The mailbox is going to explode! ANYTHING MIGHT EXPLODE AT ANY SECOND!"
BCS: "I don't understand how that exploded..."
These 2 eps were great, and Next week's are just even better. Friggin' Hype!
Imon and Abi, please begin reacting to "Ozark" once "Better Call Saul" is done in two weeks.
It would be the perfect show to take over the BB/BCS slot here on the channel.
*it's 4 Seasons | 44 Episodes
"big pussy energy" made me really belly laugh
Nacho wants out but just keeps getting promotions
Why did the chicken slide into the oil?
To blow up Los Pollos Hermanos
Imon Abi shippers had a field day with this intro
I seriously think the job offer from Howard was absolutely sincere. I applaud Howard for making the offer, for thinking for himself, for extending the olive branch.
It is Jimmy/Saul who reacted inappropriately. In fact, Jimmy turning down Howard's offer is like Walter White turning down the Gray Matter offer in light of their finding out of Walter's cancer diagnosis. Both should have absolutely taken the offers ... but both Walter and Jimmy are emotionally and psychologically stuck, their egos getting in the way ...
Anything frozen falling into a fryer will cause a problem, especially if there ia a gas leak.
Love how Kevin Watchell was completely fucked over by Kim and Jimmy’s selfish machinations, but only one episode later they’re cheering Kim on for berating the same man she was actively trying to undermine, a man who has a spotless moral track record. People say that this show has no 100% good characters, but the people at Mesa Verde are only guilty of making some old geezer sad that he never got his property in order.
TONIGHT IS THE FUCKING NIGHT!!!
(support comment)
I saw an interesting theory that Kim is playing jimmy with this marriage. The judge made a comment on Kim’s lack of middle name, or more importantly the writers made a point to have the judge make a comment. She’s hiding something...
Eh. I think it was just a casual remark made for humorous effect. Also maybe making some point about Kim’s parents not really bothering with giving her a middle name (that’s entirely speculative, though).
The slide the chicken on was metal so it heated up like a hot plate.
♥️♥️♥️
Chicken falls into the oil, makes a huge splash. Oil falls into the fire, creating explosion
Not quite. The large amount of moisture in the chicken reacting to the extremely hot oil creates a grease fire which ignites the gas.
