I’m born and raised in WA, though my 22 yrs in the Army has kept me away for the majority. It’s very sad for me to go home and see the conditions of the state and the shattered jewel that was once the Emerald City. I hope this man can do some good in the PNW.
I respect that young lad. These guys have been through a lot and seen a lot of the world and you can learn a lot listening to what they have to say about different cultures places and situations. But you should keep an open mind mate. Do listen in school, there is stuff you’ll learn that will turn out useful. But get your knowledge in alll different places. School is free to you when your young you’d be a fool to not use it. I’m not saying your gonna be using algebra everyday but trust me one day there will be times you’ll use things similar and will laugh to yourself and thank the teacher you hated. I hated school too but I don’t think you realise how much use you could’ve made of it until you leave and are needing to pay for further education or courses to learn about things you’d like to learn like economics etc (important if you’d like to start a business) you can learn the basics of these in high school kids just don’t listen. I’m 21 also. Just saying that cos I probably sound really old 😂
I’ve been employed with a very large DoD contracting company for most of my adult life. Several trips to Afghanistan to support the world’s finest warriors in the intel community. All that to say that I’ve met a lot of really solid and stand-up people with amazing stories and I’m still blown away by Joe’s story and this interview. As a veteran it is cool that a lot of these dudes want to get into politics and try to change things, however I think we all know that the people in power are not going to fix anything and do not want to give up any power to anybody. It doesn't matter how many special forces dudes for whatever run for office, the system that we have is collapsing fast and there's no real way fix it. America's political system is beyond broken.

I can’t even begin to imagine losing my wife like that and having to tell her parents and your kids. So much respect for him and we NEED more like him running this country!

Finally listened to the interview while I was delivery driving (my 2nd job of 3 so that I can survive in this state and this country right now - nothing like being unemployed at 55 and having to fight ageism along with everything else these days). I've met Joe a couple of times now, living in Vancouver and his district, and find the town halls to be refreshing. One of our gubernatorial candidates did not make the cut and the Republican that did doesn't even know where Clark County is located, at least as far I can see. Hell, I didn't even know he was running until I saw a small sign sitting next to one of the roads one day. I long for the days when candidates actually went out to meet the people and bring their platform to them instead of just showing up on the ballot. I will vote for him because the Dem is a nightmare (we thought Inslee was bad.. pretty sure he was AG Fergusons lapdog). Joe goes out and meets people and is there to be available, at least to some degree. I can't remember the last time I saw town halls or had a politician knock on my door. That, along with his platform, has me backing him all the way.

I’m not sure most of these episodes are “happy,” per se, but I certainly am proud to be a part of the class of people who are awake and aware. Every time I watch one of these I walk away incredibly nervous, though…..
My father was in the marines, enlisted at 16.He doesn't speak about it much at all, supports our troops never speaks bad of the military but beyond training in different parts of the world and the interesting stuff. It was always my dream to serve my country until a medical issue and snapping my leg really made it so it was not realistic for me. I found your show and I honestly can't stop watching and respect you and all of your guests who served more then any of the influencers or celebrities the general public idolizes. It answers questions for me or at least paints a picture a lot more of everything our men and women see and go through and why many of my friends who deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq were changed by that experience. I tell everyone who gives a shit to actually see what real heroes look like about your podcast, your ability to listen and flow with your guests is second to none. Keep it up, your channel is kick ass and any fans of the show I'm sure very much agree and appreciate your content, you pull no punches good bad or indifferent. Stay blessed Shawn!

Joe Kent is such a standup guy and very well spoken. His military career is so impressive and the fact that he has even more to give by going into politics says so much about his character. He is a fighter and encourages me to stand up and not be silent. Great interview. ❤

I’m born and raised in WA, though my 22 yrs in the Army has kept me away for the majority. It’s very sad for me to go home and see the conditions of the state and the shattered jewel that was once the Emerald City. I hope this man can do some good in the PNW.

I respect that young lad. These guys have been through a lot and seen a lot of the world and you can learn a lot listening to what they have to say about different cultures places and situations. But you should keep an open mind mate. Do listen in school, there is stuff you’ll learn that will turn out useful. But get your knowledge in alll different places. School is free to you when your young you’d be a fool to not use it. I’m not saying your gonna be using algebra everyday but trust me one day there will be times you’ll use things similar and will laugh to yourself and thank the teacher you hated. I hated school too but I don’t think you realise how much use you could’ve made of it until you leave and are needing to pay for further education or courses to learn about things you’d like to learn like economics etc (important if you’d like to start a business) you can learn the basics of these in high school kids just don’t listen. I’m 21 also. Just saying that cos I probably sound really old 😂
I’ve been employed with a very large DoD contracting company for most of my adult life. Several trips to Afghanistan to support the world’s finest warriors in the intel community. All that to say that I’ve met a lot of really solid and stand-up people with amazing stories and I’m still blown away by Joe’s story and this interview. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our country, and all you will continue to do for your state.

As a veteran it is cool that a lot of these dudes want to get into politics and try to change things, however I think we all know that the people in power are not going to fix anything and do not want to give up any power to anybody. It doesn't matter how many special forces dudes for whatever run for office, the system that we have is collapsing fast and there's no real way fix it. America's political system is beyond broken.
Wish these guys were making plans to be our Washington’s when the time comes. Avg Joe needs someone to follow for shtf.

💯 agree, it’s a noble aspiration but imo it’s a naive one for the reason that this has been going for 97% of US history… America was colonised by settlers from many parts of the world, and fought for independence that was stood up by corporations of that time …it’s always been about its military might and became and imperialist … all about Power and idealism and imposing their will worldwide … so going up against those Oligarchs that have been entrenched for so long, their narrative for Power will never cease. Government is for Government, it’s citizens are commodities for profit. The axis of power sits with Corporations, Politics (not Congress) and Military industrial (aka financial )complex that’s what Joe Kent is up against.. presidents and congress come and go they’ve little if any influence in the long run on such aforementioned institutions.

I live in his district and we have Democrats counting our mail in ballots. That’s the only explanation why we have a liberal Democrat representing a mostly conservative part of Washington state.

My grandmother told me you’re not supposed to say who you voted for, that was your business. I think around bill Clinton’s time when he used MTV to get the younger voters is when people started to voice who they were voting for. We have to have an honest system, but machines can be programmed and people are biased.

I'm in Oregon so I couldn't bur would see his commercials. I would've voted for him on just being the Republican candidate but I thought he looked like kind of a joke. I am blown away. I will be donating to his campaign and doing my best to spread the word to the people I know in his district. And I will be buying a yard sign even though I'm not in his district.

Wow this was one of my favorite episodes and I have many! Joe has been on my radar being a Vet running for office but I didn’t know all of this. I can’t even begin to imagine losing my wife like that and having to tell her parents and your kids. So much respect for him and we NEED more like him running this country!
I appreciate that Shawn lets his guest take tge center stage. There are so many opportunities that he could share his own war story or hardship, but instead he kets them tell their unique and special story. That's a hard thing to do.

Finally listened to the interview while I was delivery driving (my 2nd job of 3 so that I can survive in this state and this country right now - nothing like being unemployed at 55 and having to fight ageism along with everything else these days). I've met Joe a couple of times now, living in Vancouver and his district, and find the town halls to be refreshing. One of our gubernatorial candidates did not make the cut and the Republican that did doesn't even know where Clark County is located, at least as far I can see. Hell, I didn't even know he was running until I saw a small sign sitting next to one of the roads one day. I long for the days when candidates actually went out to meet the people and bring their platform to them instead of just showing up on the ballot. I will vote for him because the Dem is a nightmare (we thought Inslee was bad.. pretty sure he was AG Fergusons lapdog). Joe goes out and meets people and is there to be available, at least to some degree. I can't remember the last time I saw town halls or had a politician knock on my door. That, along with his platform, has me backing him all the way.

I don't even recognize Washington anymore and I fell in love with arizona. I still have so much family there though so I hope you are able to make a difference. My father was in the marines, enlisted at 16.He doesn't speak about it much at all, supports our troops never speaks bad of the military but beyond training in different parts of the world and the interesting stuff. It was always my dream to serve my country until a medical issue and snapping my leg really made it so it was not realistic for me. I found your show and I honestly can't stop watching and respect you and all of your guests who served more then any of the influencers or celebrities the general public idolizes. It answers questions for me or at least paints a picture a lot more of everything our men and women see and go through and why many of my friends who deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq were changed by that experience. I tell everyone who gives a shit to actually see what real heroes look like about your podcast, your ability to listen and flow with your guests is second to none. Keep it up, your channel is kick ass and any fans of the show I'm sure very much agree and appreciate your content, you pull no punches good bad or indifferent. Stay blessed Shawn!
