California Gardening, thanks for creating & sharing this helpful information! I wonder how many plants would be needed if the goal was to make peanut oil for cooking?
Squirrels planted peanuts for me and at first I didn’t know what this interesting plant was until I pulled it up and voila! Whole peanuts! I gave them back to the squirrels since they had done the work😁
Personally I'd have taken a small commission (up to 20% of total earnings) for land rates. Call it lease/rent. But yeah, they deserve the rest for their hard work.
I have actually experienced squirrels forgetting where they buried their horde of peanuts. I have peanuts growing all over my yard....I have dug some up and moved them to my designated garden area. I'm excited to see results.
@@cvdinjapan7935 not the original poster. But the same thing happened to me last year. They use my beds to bury them. Had one that sprouted after amending and turning up the soil for plants I started. I knew what it was and it had space so let it grow. Harvested around 15 peanuts and dried them. Now I have 12 I’ve started from them for this year. And will water and take care of them. Kinda let the original one just do what it wanted.
Thank you for this video. Out of curiosity I planted some raw peanuts a month ago in containers. I wasn’t sure what to do after that and your video was very helpful. I can’t wait!
I’m going to give these a try over here in Zone 9b! We live close to a peanut growing community and they always have a Peanut Festival. Best peanut brittle and other peanut snacks as well. Probably won’t happen this year due to Covid but a good skill share to have. I’ve learned so much from you, and for that I thank you. 🌱💜🌱
Hi I live in California so I look forward to learning from you all the time. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a few years now. I’m going to grow some peanuts 🎉😊 I totally adore you right now . I love peanuts 🥜

Can you do a video on how to sell your produce, if you actually sell produce? Also can you give your thoughts on raising produce and using them to benefit your garden?
I do not sell my produce, its shared with neighbors when we grow a lot. But yes there are options to sell it via a produce truck/farmers market and I have seen some gardeners do it!
Peanuts are fun to grow, especially if you have kids and want to get them into growing plants and home produce so that, if an Apocalypse should ever come (God forbid, lol!) and the food supply is put in jeopardy, they'll be able to grow stuff for themselves. I guess that's an extreme example of why developing these self-sufficiency skills (like our ancestors had before the times of modern convenience and supermarkets) is so important, but otherwise it gives kids a fun education experience about food production. I have been listening to the talks by Gary Matsuoka of Laguna Hills nursery. Boy, he knows more about plant and soil science than the PHD holders in the University department! What he says makes a great deal of sense, and it has changed the way I think about potting media for plants. Do you still use your '5-1-1' potting mix with bark chips? Since listening to Gary, I no longer use bark or other organic matter like compost as the growing medium; rather, I use compost as a top-dressing or make a compost tea. According to Gary, sand is an excellent growing medium. I ask: if you add sand to peat moss, does it separate out and travel down to the base of the plant pot over time, or does it remain evenly distributed throughout the peat matrix?
One question: how much water should peanuts receive when first planted (pre-seedling stage)? We're in coastal Orange County, Calif. (zone 10b) and I'm concerned our cooler climate might be too damp, even in the summer. How moist should we keep the soil? Thanks for the great videos!
I grow 2 rows of peanuts that are each 80 feet long, each row 3 feet wide and I plant each row 6 plants wide, each row has a wooden frame around the perimeter and has a PVC arched frame over them. I use a fine pest netting over them to keep out any pests.. insects, birds, deer, squirrels, raccoons, armadillos, etc. no need for sprays or anything, costly for materials initially but once you have everything it’s all reusable and last many many years…
I’m 40. In 2023 I learned pineapples grow on the ground. Not in trees. In 2024 I learned peanuts grow in the ground. Not above ground like peas as I first thought.
My peach tree has started budding early in zone 7. I don’t want Fruit this year I just want the tree to grow. Do you think the leaf buds can live through the cold temps till summer?
Love the video! I transplanted my plant I bought from a nursery about a month or two ago and I haven't seen flowers. Do they bloom quickly before going under ground? Maybe I missed it?
My grandma told me to plant peanuts before she passed away half a year ago...but in canada i think tht might be hard...in north india they grow in sandy soil

I am 66 and have to admit I never knew peanuts grew in the ground until today!! Where have I been? How did I not know this?!
Because other types of commonly eaten nuts, like Walnuts, grow on trees. So I understand why you might never have known until recently.
Bruh!
Jimmy Carter knew❤
It is also called GROUNDnuts for this reason.
So true I thought they grow in trees like apples

After tasting freshly harvested peanut you will never buy from the shops
I have actually experienced squirrels forgetting where they buried their horde of peanuts. I have peanuts growing all over my yard....I have dug some up and moved them to my designated garden area. I'm excited to see results.
Lol cool
That is the exact reason why I am researching how to grow peanuts because a squirrel decided to leave me a peanut tree in one of my gardens😅
How did it go?
Wow

I had an elderly neighbor teach me how to grow peanuts about 10 yrs ago. I'm excited to grow them this year. My 5 yr old is going to love this!
It's been years since I've grown peanuts. They grew very well and tasted great. Nice video.
Good to know!
Does I have to put mud on the flower plz reply ?😔🤗
Seriously who gives a thumbs down on peanuts. Great video! Keep up the good work!!
Someone allergic, perhaps... Ooooor someone who CANNOT aim, or needs their eyes checked!! 😉
Very nice video. I understand that growing peanuts makes the soil very fertile and full of nutrient.
Straight to the point, very informational, overall a great tutorial video!
Great video. Short and to the point, but covering all stages of growth ❤
Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Have been growing them in my little kitchen garden here in Nairobi, Kenya.
Thank you for this video. Out of curiosity I planted some raw peanuts a month ago in containers. I wasn’t sure what to do after that and your video was very helpful. I can’t wait!
I had no idea that you could plant those! Thanks for sharing the tips about this interesting plant.
Only if they are raw. If they are roasted like most in the stores, then all bets are off. Sprouts as been known to sell the raw ones.
So cool! I had no idea how peanuts grew/were formed-thanks for showing us the journey :)
Wow this is a very detailed peanut guide
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

They grow them in North East Louisiana. The grower interview said you need something like beach sand to grow well.
we had lazy squirrels & a few plants that frost got. Must have been kismet, because I’m about 20 days from harvesting 3 plants❤ 🥜
Sounds great!
Roots of peanut have much viruts good for solid....
After you rinse them, how can they be stored for future use? Could I just dry them in the sun and store in airtight container or zip lock bags?
Keep them in air tight containers
Nice video with update 🍀☘️🌿🌱🥜🥜
Thank You
Great video !
Very good video
thank you.

Water every day till they sprout, keep soil moist
Fun project to try!
can i repot it while it has started flowering?
Yes you can
Great video.
Do you just eat them raw like that?
every time i watch a video on how to grow peanuts, after seeing the yield i go "oh....thats why i buy them at the supermarket for $5"
LOL but growing your own has therapeutic benefits :)
Yes I’d love to try!!!!
Great sharing
Perfect vid, here's what we're doing, here's how to do it, here's the result. Subbed!

I'm in Colorado I'm moving to west Virginia and I want to grow some peanuts for the deer in the yard
So if u have planted more than one acre u wash them all on harvesting day ?
No, only a small area. Yes I washed them after harvesting, but if you harvest a lot, dont wash them all
Is it possible to grow in containers or pots? if so, what's the ideal size for it???
I’m 40.
In 2023 I learned pineapples grow on the ground. Not in trees.

Peanuts a bit like potatoes and thrive if you heap soil around them.. 😊
Thanks for sharing
How to keep squirrels or underfround critters from eating these? And how to prevent Aflatoxins?
Very interesting
I feel bad to those with peanut allergies.
I have never grown peanuts mut be a fun one to frow here in the IE. Good video, thanks for the inspiration.
I had a bag of unshelled peanuts which I am using to grow from the uncooked raw peanuts. It lists on the bag under allergens peanuts. LOL
I bought unshelled raw red skinned peanuts. So I can grow them by just planting them directly into the soil right?
Great
Thanky🙏🙏
Do u plant the nut in the hull or do u need to hull the nut out then plant
Remove the hull (covering) and then plant the nut
Will it still grow if the hull wasn’t removed before planting? Thx!
Grow in cold?
Grow it in the spring or summer season
My peach tree has started budding early in zone 7. I don’t want Fruit this year I just want the tree to grow. Do you think the leaf buds can live through the cold temps till summer?
if they burn the tree will probably try again. covering helps if the frost is a little much for the plant. if it's way too cold it won't help enough.
Hi sir. What is the potting mix that you use?
I understand the price now.
Very thankful.work on pin points.
This is cool
So it takes months for a harvest? :( so much for making peanut butter lol do they get worms in them or bugs inside them?
Haven't seen any bugs. Yes you need lots of patience to grow 😀
How much light do peanuts need to germinate
4-6 hours
Thanks
I do not think I’ve ever eaten a fresh peanut in my life.
Try it!
Grow some!
Imagine thrn making your own peanut butter
Do you need to buy peanuts with shells to grow peanuts? In my country the raw peanuts comes without shells.
as long as not roasted or treated with growth inhibitor . They should grow from the peanut . Try soaking them in water till they sprout
Flower ka nam kiya hai
Kaunsa flower?
Momfali ka saath ja flower hai
Love the video! I transplanted my plant I bought from a nursery about a month or two ago and I haven't seen flowers. Do they bloom quickly before going under ground? Maybe I missed it?
Hello there, if you Google how to grow peanuts you will find many instructions and videos to help you. Estelle - Cape Town - South Africa
I have 2 plants in my garden that I think it is peanuts but I don't know yet.
Give them to the squirrels, and they will plant them for you.
Haha this might work but some of the plants will end up growing miles away
My grandma told me to plant peanuts before she passed away half a year ago...but in canada i think tht might be hard...in north india they grow in sandy soil
grow them in containers inside a double layered plastic hot house .
All that work for 10 peanuts!
Great video. Must peanuts be roasted before eating? Or can you eat them raw?
i've eaten them raw. they warn you
Boiled peanuts are popular in parts of the American south.
Why the fuck not grow peanuts honestly they taste awesome they can be seasoned with anything and guess what they’re healthy for you. Peanuts 4 life
Or you just buy a 1 kg bag from the supermarket and that's it.
neem oil
i thought peanuts grows from the tree
Lol
This looks easily but to find lomay soil is a lot of work and the day is to long
Great video, however says use neem oil. Never use neem oil outside as it can kill the honey bee's. Indoor plants only.
Second
when season peanut
Great video. Thank you.
Wrong method. Seed growth well.
