MABONENG - JOHANNESBURG 🇿🇦 DIEPKLOOF, PIMVILLE ZONE 5 , MOLETSANE , KONKA , VARDOS GUEST HOUSE

The magical urban neighbourhood “MABONENG” is the centre of restaurants, cofe shops, clothing boutiques, art galleries, retail and studio spaces and bars and rooftops, drawing the crowds of many tourists aswell as the inner city public and the city suburbs!
It is a unique mix of developments that form a part of the city’s exciting regeneration.
Located on the east side of Johannesburg inner city , it was once home to grimy abandoned warehouses.
“DIEPKLOOF” is a large zone of Soweto in the Gauteng province of South Africa.
The area was established 1959 to accommodate people removed from Alexandra.
PIMVILLE has several zones and is a small suburb located close to the University in Johannesburg, 20 km south east of the city centre.
MOLETSANE was originally settled in the 1930’s.
During the apartheid era , Moletsane was classified as a “black area” and was subject to forced removals of its residents to make way for white settlements.
“KONKA” Soweto, is known for it’s expensive bottle service, celebrities and A-list DJ’s and has established itself as Jobergs new “it club”, the hottest place to be seen!
“”VARDOS GUEST HOUSE” (or “guest lodge”) in Mapetla in Soweto is a nice place where we were staying December 2023. Highly recommended!
