I am thankful to you for making all those wonderful video tutorials and amazing gear reviews with Christina. I bought my first DSLR ie Pentax. And I am in process of learning manual mode. Thank you Toby.
After making it up into a mono pod and you go to put it back together there is a plastic sleeve on the inside. When you push it down it goes down the same direction. If you push the sleeve up it goes together again easily.
I have an S4 head. That screw to latch the camera only requires a half turn. I had no problem with my 80D with an L bracket, but friends' cameras without the L bracket had problems. Took a little while to figure out.
You sure can lock your camera quick release plate down on the Benro Travel Angel 2. That mechanism is in two parts. Plastic spring-loaded lever over a metal screw. Gently pull the plastic lever out, turn it, release it so that it's engaged with the metal screw then turn it again so that it tightens the locking pin. You don't have to take your camera off to achieve that. Thank you very much for this video, it was one of a few videos which helped me decide which tripod to buy as I'd never purchased one before. :)
It has another useful feature, when you want low angle. The leg can be reversed upside down when you need extra low angle without removing the camera mount. very useful for doing slider shoot.
garryentropy Both the S4 and the S2C heads were really smooth - I feel like the example video included don't do a good job of showing how smooth. The S4 has a bit more spring of life to the feeling but for portability the S2C can't be beat.
Thanks for the great review, after a lot of research and watching similar vids I have decided to go with the Aero 4. I recently purchased the Manfrotto BeFree Live and sold it within a week. The 'fluid head' was flimsy and couldn't support the weight of my 70-200 and A7Rii. I feel as though the Aero 4 will support the heavier payload. Good that you have examples of you actually using the tripod and not just talking about it.
Tthe knob locking mounting plate interfering with your camera that knob can be pulled out and rotated freely to a new position and pushed in to completely tighten so it allows to bypass the physical obstruction of your camera. try it just pull it away from plate turn it to clear your camera then you can re position the knob and push it back in to finish tightening the plate
Hi, I'm thinking about getting one of these. Would the Aero 2 hold a Canon 6D + 70-200 2.8 IS II? I would like to get the Aero 2 because it fits inside my backpack but the Aero 4 would work just fine. Thank you!
Luís Moreira The Aero 2 will hold that combo - it supports up to 5.5 lbs and your 6D plus lens comes in just under 5lbs. I would however avoid using the tripod fully extended with that combo.
Thanks for the quick answer! How high does it get without the central column extended? And the motion of the head is as smooth as the aero4? Again, thanks
Luís Moreira 65" high - more info here www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1080216-REG/benro_a2883fs4_aero4_travel_angel_video.html?BI=4773&KBID=5287 and the motion of the head is as smooth.
Appreciate the video. As a fellow youtube video publisher, fully understand the effort involved in making the video. Ordering Benro Aero 2 from the link you have provided.
Hey, I need to make up my mind for either Aero 2 or 4, what do you reckon??? Looks like they are almost the same. I'll be travelling for 5 months and I'm a 1.6m girl so lighter is a plus. The heaviest gear I will probably mount on it is a 7D with the EF 24-105 lens...
PhotoRec Toby When using these tripods as monopods, is it possible to attach a leg base to the bottom as many of the dedicated Benro monopods come with? Thanks!
Hi, good evening. Do you think any of these is better than the manfrotto befree with fluid head? Its price is quite similar but it looks the have developed that tripod a little better. What do you think?
I shoot real estate primarily and looking to shoot sports again. Which tripod will allow me to place the Benro Geared Head on it for real estate, and also be able to put a fluid head on for sports and various other things? Also, for maintaining the best work flow possible, what quick release plate will allow for quickly transferring my camera onto a Zhiyun Weebil S gimbal from the Geared Head? I currently have the Falcam Ulanzi F38 quick release plates and they have been amazing. But not at all sure they will be compatible with Benro equipment. Incidentally, my camera body is a Canon R50 with the Nisi 9mm f2.8 lens. Thanks
Toby, thanks as always for your practical objectivity. This new Benro line appears pretty similar to the MePhoto line. Is it? Also, I've been looking at that S2 head for travel, but the non-standard QR plate gives me pause. Should it?
I have been videotaping trains/railroads for a while and am looking for a tripod that will keep the camera steady as the 100s of tons of steel go by and inevitably shake the ground. Will the Aero 2 accomplish that?
Hey man, thanks for the review. I just checked out the monopod thing and i am having a huge problem to reassemble it back into a tripod again. I really need it as a tripod, any tips pleas??
Very good review! I have a good Manfrotto and I'm searching for a cheap alternative to carry with me when I'm not shooting for work or important things, but just for fun or a fast shooting. I have a Panasonic Gh4, you think the S2 is enough or do I need the other one? thank you
I like how it converts itself from a tripod to a monopod, but how would you screw off the other two that are the tripods and how do you get them back on when you want to go back from a monopod to a tripod? Nevertheless, looks like a great tripod that should replace my very cheap tamron 60 feet tripod stand.
You only need the one leg that unscrews - that plus the center column makes the monopod. You leave the rest of it behind. Reverse the process and it all goes back together.
Hi, I have MVM 500A fluid head is it possible to attach this head to the Benro Tripods? Also is it possible to buy the tripod without the head? Thanks :)
Toby, love the review! I'd love to buy the Aero 4, just a quick question--from what I've heard, the fluid heads have no drag when it comes to panning and tilting. That isn't the biggest dealbreaker in the world, but just to confirm--can you tighten down the tripod for static shots when you don't want the camera to move? And did it seem to keep your cameras securely in place? Thanks!
1. Are these tripod stand compatible with any camera? even gopro camera? 2. Does the monopod has a button for you to take a selfie? 3. Is it waterproof? or it actually rust after being exposed to water? Sincerely hope someone could reply these question.
Hi Toby, You are amongst my top go-to people for product reviews! Any time I am looking for a product, you seem to have a review on it so, thank you! I am looking for a tripod that converts to a monopod (80% video work and some photography with a Canon 400). I have a 5D Mark III and Canon 24-105, 70-200 F4 IS and the Canon 400 F5.6. Although all three would work, weight-wise, I am looking for a tripod that is lightweight and provides very smooth tilt and pan for video work. How would you compare the S2 versus S4 heads, especially in terms of their panning/ tilting ability for video work (assume it won't be used with the 400L)? What will I not get in the S2 that the S4 offers for my needs? Thanks again!
I have a benro monopod with S2 head and the qr plate doesn't work well with my Canon 7D. Now I'm planning to buy the benro A5273S4 tripod. Will the S4 hold my canon 7D well?
Ugh.. I can't decide between the Aero 2 and Aero 4 for my GH4. Will the S4 head be smoother? I have read poor reviews of the S2 head, but I see the aero uses a SC2 head and I can't find anything about it. What do you think Toby?
Hey, been eyeing this tripod (specifically the S4) for a couple of months now to upgrade from my Ravelli AVTP tripod, which is heavy and uncomfortable for me, although there seems to be very little reviews on this tripod. It seems that it should carry my Canon T3i well, but I've got a few quesitons. How are the legs? Are they nice and steady? Also, do you think this would be okay to add a hefty lens on it (70 - 200 f2.8 for example). Thank you!
***** I am still really happy with this tripod and had it out today on icy conditions and it performed great. Legs are solid and it can easily hold a 70-200 f/2.8, just make sure to mount it on the tripod collar for better balance.
***** Only downside to a video tripod - you can't do portrait orientation shots without extra gear - if that doesn't bother you this is a great tripod!
PhotoRec Toby Never found the need to go portrait on my tripods haha, usually I do handheld when I do portraits and only really use tripods for photography for long exposures, and sure as hell won't be shooting portrait video any time soon haha! Thanks for the fast replies and input!
yes ,it'sa problem with tightening the screw to stop the camera sliding vack and forth. Cant seem to fix that......Also when tilting it is wobbly at point where the blue conections joins the black head....dont know what the term is. Is there a way to tighten that joining area? thnks
Hey ! Great review ! I would like to know, for a canon 60d with a weight that goes from 1.9511lb to 3.3069lb (different lenses) which head would suit the best for my set-up ? Thank you !
The Smaller S2 head can support 5.5lbs, that would be fine for you. One thing to consider - will you be upgrading to a bigger camera or lenses anytime in the future? might be worth it to consider the S4 if you think you will bit.ly/BenroAero2 or stay small if you think mirrorless is in your future.
PhotoRec Toby I'm not planning to get a bigger camera in the near future. I was just wondering that with a small weight the S2 can do the job ? Is the difference between the S2 and S4 is just about the maximum charge ? Thanks for the fast reply !
absolutal2 Pretty much the only difference. The S4 may feel just a little more fluid in some movements but really very slight difference. I would go with the lighter one especially if you need to travel, it packs down nicely.
Those tripods are great!!! I didn't even know there were such thing! I'm going to save for one right now!!! Thank you! Edit: if only they would sell it in Italy… :(

this is one of the fastest reply I've ever get, thanks! ;)
For the longest time I was trying to figure out how to get this awesome tripod to become a monopod. You finally showed me how! Thank you!
So glad I could help!

Alexis Sixela Thanks!
Love the closing remarks. Thank you for taking time to do these things for us newbies. Have a good light sir!

Excellent review, this helped my decision to buy the aero 2.
Hope you're well.
Not on the market for a tripod currently but always like watching your reviews. Well done.

Hi Toby, thank you for all the videos! Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia!
Great review, very helpful! was going to buy the Aero 4 but Aero 2 is adequate for my camera and folds up to a good size. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the review, I've been excited about the Aero 4 since I saw it.

good review, my best tripod is a 30 year old monfrotto made from 100% metal but it weighs a ton, be great to find a light one with a real smooth head.

Hey Toby, Can you tell where to buy the outro music? It really really brings back the 90s memories for some beautiful odd reason.
Display Name It is an iLife Jingle called Daydream.caf- I love it for the end, hope I never find something better :)
CameraRec Toby Thank you.
Great review! Is it possible to mount a Benro s6 head on one of these legs?
Paul Mayer Yes - though it may feel a little unbalanced on the smallest set of legs with a head that large.
Is it possible to use the s6 por fluid head in the Aero2 legs?
Would the benro aero 2 be good for a canon 80d?
Is there any difference between the S2C head and the S2 head, or are those the same thing?

hi toby
great review!
i own an a7s. do you think it will be ok on the aero 2? have you by any chance tried the a7s on the aero? thanks!
You will be fine on the Aero2 - I have used significantly bigger cameras on the 2 without any issues.
Beautiful! Thank you so much for the quick reply as well :)
1. Are these tripod stand compatible with any camera? even gopro camera?
2. Does the monopod has a button for you to take a selfie?
3. Is it waterproof? or it actually rust after being exposed to water?
Sincerely hope someone could reply these question.
I'm in a budget of $100 and need a nice tripod for my nikon d5300 for taking landscape pictures or macro. Any suggestion?

Are these tripods also good with a slider? would they still be balanced even if you use a 1 meter slider on it?
+LV Media Funny you should ask- I just picked up a heavy 1 meter slider from MOVO and it works well on the larger benro.
I have a benro monopod with S2 head and the qr plate doesn't work well with my Canon 7D. Now I'm planning to buy the benro A5273S4 tripod. Will the S4 hold my canon 7D well?
Alfred Christanto Yep.
Thanks PhotoRec Toby. I just bought it last week and it work really good.

PhotoRec Toby Great ! Yes it's principally for travel ! Thanks for your time !
So why would I choose the AERO 2 rather than the 4? Or the other way around?
The only real differences is the weight of the gear you need to support. the 4 is capable of stabilizing heavier gear.
I bought an Aero 4, but I noticed a slight Wobble at the base of the fluid head when tilting. Is this normal?
Does anyone know how to remove the head?? I want to attach my ball head for portrait
How much does it cost??in India rupees.
Seems like a great product to start off, then you can upgrade tripod and head separately as you grow.
anyone knows a cheaper alternative?
Those tripods are great!!! I didn't even know there were such thing! I'm going to save for one right now!!! Thank you!
Edit: if only they would sell it in Italy… :(
***** Buy from B&H? They ship worldwide.
They do, but in the best case scenario the shipping is almost 30% of the Aero 4 price. And the total price would be too much bucks than bang…
***** Bummer!
Cool. I almost bought a benro awhile back, but my wallet chickened out at the last second. I need to give them another look.
I just had a question that occurred to me. There are so many quick connect options. And every tripod seems to come with a different system. This may be a simple (aka stupid) question, but can I just pull off the quick connect system and put on a plate from the system I already use? And do you have a favorite quick connect system? Did you mention one of the arca Swiss models in a part video? Thanks as always.
NickMach007 Many tripod plates are proprietary, frustrating I know. All my photo tripods share the Arca Swiss style plates so I have loads of those lying around. The Benro use a video style plate that I believe is compatible with Manfrotto video heads too.
Thanks. And I think you are right about the Benro being compatible with one of the Manfrotto systems.
Are those the haunted stairs? The ones that freaked you out in that night time light trail video? Lol
lol they are!
Thought so. :-)
Erm... You don't need to attach the whole centre pole to attach to the monoleg, the head can go straight on the monoleg...
I swear when he does a review he goes to narnia or middle earth
LMAO

No, They don't make video tripods with fluid heads. But they do make very nice photo tripods.
