I have exactly the same year model 1998 Toyota Tacoma and followed your instructions as you put it out on the video and I was like a pro in removing and replacing the window actuator. Done in less than two hours with replacing and re-taping the plastic covering. Thank you very much to the very clear instructions you have shown. I saved a lot of money buying aftermarket actuator and replacing it myself. More importantly, I felt great doing it myself.
Many Thanks, window was not going up on my 98 Tacoma and it ended being the brass regulator screws were off, would not have been able to fix it without your video. Much appreciated.
*** THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! *** Your video saved me a lot of money and hassle. 2001 Toyota Tacoma S-Runner...the power window was working intermittently. Replaced the motor per your instructions and it was perfect. Paid only $30 for the motor assembly. BTW, I love Kauai. Been there twice.
nice job. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma drivers window which is stuck closed. Can I assess the bolts holding glass to assembly if window power is off and stuck up position? a nice yes or now would help, thanks! I lived on Hawaii for awhile and Oahu. Miss it. I am in WA state now.
Aloha, You MIGHT be able to access the bolts with the window stuck in the up position but it will be difficult. It may be necessary to remove the window motor from the regulator in order to move the window glass up/down. Also, make sure the window lock is off before beginning the hair pulling process of removing the window!😂 Mahalo, Mike
After installing a new passenger side window regulator on my 2013 toyota tacoma, I tried to test my new window regulator from the driver side with the passenger side switch still disconnected after the install. I guess the driver side and passenger side window switch is all one circuit. I thought that there was something else wrong after I installed the new window regulator but once I reconnected the passenger side switch I could operate it from both sides. Turns out the original problem was I had the widow lock engaged accidentally and I thought that it was actually a door lock button after having the truck for 10 years. Replaced a perfectly good window regulator. What purpose does a window lock button serve? Thats what I get for forgetting that a button can be pressed accidentally and mistaking it for something that it was not.
Followed your tutorial, and worked as well for my '99 Tacoma. Thanks for posting!
This method will also work if the window is stuck in the up position. I have a 1990 SR5 XTra cab and everything is pretty much identical. Great video!
Awesome video- I’ve got a 99
Really easy to work on!!!!
Thanks for the tips 👍👍
Amazing, heading out to do it right now! There is nothing better than RUclips University!

Aloha Timothy,
Oh man, what a bummer!
I think the window lock is for parents to be able to keep the kids from operating the windows.

Mike
Thanks for the video,man.Excellent explanation.
reverse the polarity on the wiring and that has worked for me before with getting your window to go up!
Fantastic information. Thanks
