I own one of these gt4’s. So the suspention is all OEM from the looks of it not aftermarket. And the front suspention is from the gt3 NOT 718! The rear suspention was all worked specifically for the 981 GT4. Good luck on the build!
I looked at bidding on that car to transplant the guts into my cayman S..... Arthur Tussik has some good front end replacement videos which are definitely worth watching. I have changed the front tub on a 981 but as you say, i think you are looking at going back to the bulk head. I do have a long LH chassis leg, a new lower repair panel but the back lower section of the tub looks knackered. Also got a couple of pairs of GT4 lights as well.....
PorschAs are riveted and glued as Mat Armstrong would confirm. You will have to replace the whole TUB… Arthur in his channel showed how to replace the tub for a 991, which is fairly the same. Most cost effective thing to do is to buy a salvaged tub, no need for a pull machine… you cannot pull aluminium as the rivets would lose strength. Beautiful and worthy project… not financially viable, but I think youtube viewership will pay the bill.
@simonthompson474 I'm sure he's really upset you think that.... while he sits in 1 of his lamborghini's or rolls royce counting the zeros on his bank account 👌😉😁 He's come from fixing his mrs's written off and audi on his driveway to where he is now but you think he's not keeping it real 🤔 you come to that conclusion all on your own 😮😂👍
Thanks! This looks like quite a build! Back when most 911s had motors in the back, I spent quite a bit of time disassembling ones that all seemed like they had backed off a guardrail.
Hi Chris, awesome build mate! Excited to see this unfold! Also let us know if you’re after some aftermarket Suspension and braking parts, we can certainly sort you a deal. We can supply Suspension Secrets, KW, EBC etc!
Found your channel a while ago and I'm really enjoying these videos. Its just like Mat's videos and that's nothing but a good thing. And about the exhaust for this car, definitely a JCR exhaust.
JCR EXHAUST !! Sounds unreal he has been on Archie Hamiltons channel. Good luck Chris this 1 is gonna be a challenge but will be worth it. Love the content keep it going.
To make things easier for yourself put all nuts and bolts on an idiot board with a decent description as to where they came from in the order you strip the vehicle. And write down part numbers as you take each damaged part off. also pin boards are great for visualizing where you are up to when re building the car. It also gives you a bit of satisfaction when u complete a section. I tend to find it inspires me to keep going n get more done when you see the board getting less full
Chris - instead of painting the Aston Martin you rebuilt many moons ago in Gulf Livery, you buy a severely damaged Porsche GT4 in Gulf Livery. That only leaves you with the option, once you've fully repaired the car, as to where your next road trip destinaion is. Good Luck with the build and the sourcing of parts. 👍👍
You have to keep this one along with the merc gt. The number plate is awesome fully legal but still spells the colour of the car and that blue is amazing. Keep up the hard work bro
CHRIS!! What a car mate. I was so close to bidding on that to repair for my channel but didn't want to take the chance given the damage....so hats off to you. Would love to actually come and see you build this up 👍
I’ve got one and they are pretty good on track but need semi slicks. Engine mounts are prone to breaking as well I have some de-cat headers if interested
This looks like a proper test for your engineering skills, but I can already see you pulling this one off! Can’t wait for the next update. And please, please, please…..do not, and I repeat, do not change the colour. It’s great!
@@bigboost2641 Imagine you are approaching the Volvo dealer coming from Junction 16. Take the first exit left toward the link center. As we were driving towards the link center, the porsche was on our side of the road facing us. Somewhere between the next round about and the middle of the road they lost traction (probably after booting it and snap oversteered) into the lamp post through the central reservation and onto on-coming traffic. I didnt see the crash but It must have been literally a few minutes after it happened.
Oke now you got yourself a challenge, Chris. Damm, mine, dream weekend/track car. Bad discussion are sometimes the most fun one. Maby a fi exhaust would sound perfect
Looks like you could do with some racking to store the good parts until theyre good to go back on Chris, looking forward to watching the progress on this build
Nice car, so hopefully viable and you have any easy ride, with a relatively straightforward repair. I know the sound of the car is a part of its character, but how about valves to vary the sound of the exhaust?
@@Trophy_R well Ive done a lot of track days in different Porsches as well as my own GT4 and found them extremely reliable. Drive it to the track and drive it home.
I’ve got a feeling the lifts haven’t been certified or something like that so he can’t use them on the Chanel yet.. 100% they get used when cameras are off😂
That’s brave , that’s the complete front end which goes right to the bulkhead which include both suspension turrets which is bonded and riveted to the body, which is the only way to deal with as that’s the only way to deal with the turret which was ripped out on this car
Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out Chris it’s gonna be an expensive one but I’m sure you can do it. If you can’t just watch Mat’s GT3 video’s as a guide 😂
Take to Vulcan alpha for front splitter active aero set up maybe spoiler extension then round the ring with Misha? They need front end work anyway to feel as stable as other Porsches, I’ve had 3 Porsches now including one of these and one of my favourite engines even though it’s not too powerful or as high revving as other Porsche engines. It’s maintainable compared to others, and hardly any problems with it can just hammer the thing all day long.
If you need any in info on how to possibly save cash or how to replace the tub, chat to your mate MA he has had experience on this. I’m looking forward to see how this progresses good luck Chris. I’ll be watching with bated breathe.😮
@chris slix mate just for a little bit of a look at a full front emd being swapped on a Porsche go check out tj hunts gt3 build, they done a whole front tub and i mean from firewall forward and it turned out amazing. Not saying you aint got the know how but its alway good to see it aswell innit. Good luck bro im loving the content and how fast your channel has grown is amazing
if the muffler is good, just keep the stock muffler and do JCR sport cats and headers. If the muffler is damaged from the forklift do the entire JCR system. if the rear diffuser is damaged, might as well get a carbon one to replace it.
Fantastic car, one of the very best I ever drove. You still get the old school sound, 10x better than the current gen. Just please, for the love of god, don't modify this car.
This is going to be a good one!!! You should decorate the unit's walls with the perished bonnets of cars you have done.
That's a brilliant idea! How cool would that look, and create a memorabilia timeline.
Deadly idea - I was actually thinking that when I say the bare white walls in the background!
Actually a really good idea tbf
Yeah and spray foam the back of them for sound deadening such a big unit.
I’m coming to steal your spoiler end caps btw
😂😂😂😂😂
Mate why don’t you get Vulcan alpha to make you some? (Misha charoudin’s company).
@@AI-Records24 I’ll just steal Chris’s, much cheaper 🤣
@@SavingSalvage if you send me the part or find the dimensions I’ll 3d print you some end caps.

Love your work mate! Enjoying your content from New Zealand! 🇳🇿
Gintani exhaust systems are the best sounding for Porsches in my opinion. But congs on the new purchase can't wait to see the final look 🎉🎉
Great video, just not long enough ! Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses.
Love it Chris, good luck with the build! I really don’t think it’ll be a long series😂😂 best of luck mate!💪
