At 5:20 Here is a suggestion for anyone having trouble replacing the pump assembly back into place with the rubber bushing and the collar that secure the pump in place.
First put the rubber bushing piece back in place by itself without the metal collar attached to it.
The rubber bushing piece has a bigger hole for you to slip the pump assembly through. After you have the pump assembly and the rubber pieces in...
You then use flexible magnetic pickup tool with grabber claws at the end to hold the metal collar securly and then go slip it into place.
This is the method I used to get the pump assembly and rubber with bushing into place. Although several attempts but it still worked. Good luck! 👍🏿

Thanks! That part of the job is tough! I struggled for a bit on it

@BELOSHAPKA_AUTO you're right that part was hard.... I struggled too.
That part and when techstream lost communication right after instructing I bleed the stroke simulator.

Nice video. If I were looking to replace my brake booster/actuator I would actually search "Prius Brake Booster" on RUclips. I wouldn't search the VSC light. It would be better if you added the word "booster" or "actuator" in the video title. This video makes me realize how hard of a job it is.

Glad to see you got the software working with the car, thats usually a huge roadblock.

It looks like the 3G Prius splits the booster and pumps, where the 2G have them as one unit. Last time I checked (last year) the "booster" for my 06 was over $1K.
My 06 is parked, waiting for time (and weather) to allow swapping the booster from a spare 06. I do NOT look forward to it, even with TIS on multiple laptops. Basically because I'll essentially be doing TWO jobs in the swap (though the bad one doesn't have to work for the parts car, just seal off the brake lines).
It SUCKS that Toyota had a recall on these that timed out for older cars. This is ABSOLUTELY a safety issue, there never should have been a sunset date on it.

Yeah I called my local dealership and they said the “warranty/recall” expired in 2020

Incredible video, thanks for posting. Our gen 3 is starting to do the pressure noise every 13 seconds and I know we are due for a replacement. Toyota recommends replacing both the booster and the ABS module however what are the chances that both of them are failing at the same time? I may replace one at a time to see if it fixes the problem which may provide a more cost effective solution. Would it be more likely the Booster or the ABS do you think that fails first?

I would scan it and see what codes are there

@@BELOSHAPKA_AUTO No codes yet, just the pump noise intermittently when driving. Was trying to preemptively fix it so it doesn't break on my wife when I'm away.
