    I shaved yesterday with ARKO and today with Derby. Both great soaps. I felt the 'cushioning' of Derby, being a thinner lather, less than ARKO, but. the scent of Derby fragrances my bathroom more than ARKO. If you mix the two soaps you have the best of the two soaps

    Arko for me. I use other soaps/creams from time to time just for a change of pace, but Arko is my "daily driver". For travel, I press some into one of those small flat face cream containers (Nivea) and by sparingly using it, I can get 3 - 4 weeks out of it. It's also a solid and not a liquid (like creams are) in the eyes of TSA/flying security rules.

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving
      @AdventuresInWetShaving  Год назад +1

      Molon, Arko is a fine shaving soap for sure! ;) Yeah buddy and the TSA is cool with it plus 3 - 4 shaves at a go that makes for a great travel soap!

      I use similar containers for tje same things. Chapstick tubes also work well, but being crammed in withput a preformed center hole, it wont baco in easily if you overextend the chapstick plunger, but is great for applying a direct face lather. small round balm tins and such work very well.

    I like Derby, it's a go-to soap for me. Picks up on the brush quickly, lathers in the bowl quickly and it makes a slick and creamy lather, yes, quickly..
    Arko is on my list of soaps to try, so, Eric, thanks for the review.

  • @K3Flyguy

    Smell is secondary to me, the amount of water the lather will hold against my face while lathered is #1 concern for me. #2 is the slip the soap has, but I will use olive oil applied before cream if I need to. I don't ever have the opportunity to shave just out of the shower, always a dry beard to start with.

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving
      @AdventuresInWetShaving  Год назад +1

      Well said Michael a well hydrated slick lather is the way to go! I have used coconut oil in the past before lathering for that extra slickness too. Why don't you shave after you shower? I like a dry beard to start with as well.

    Happy new year Eric, I have no problem with Arko apart that it goes rancid pretty fast. I usually rub it against the stubble and bloom it with the brush. The Derby I never tried, but a couple of days ago I saw Palmolive shaving soap at the grocery store and bought one.

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving
      @AdventuresInWetShaving  6 лет назад +2

      Palmolive, very cool you will have to let me know your feelings on how the Palmolive works for you my friend. I would be very curious what you think about the scent profile and the performance. I started blooming the soap sticks like Arko and Derby in a bowl because I'm able to have more control on the amount of soap I can load on the brush. It seem to work better for me then rubbing the stick on my stubble. Thanks for the great comment and for watching! 📢💥🎇 Happy New Year Kypros, Best Wishes my friend! 🎇💥📢 👍🙂👍
