Walmart was getting obnoxious homeless campers and they were leaving the trash behind - you can’t blame them for stopping overnight parking in these instances. I’ve thought of some of these spots to park at. ..glad you made this video. ❤️

Totally agree with your comments on generator. Hate to pull in to a Walmart or casino and end up close to someone running generator all night for both the noise and the exhaust.

My advice... Get a trucker's GPS and park at truck stops.
It's not free but there are services there that cater to people who live on the road, and since there's activity and movement around you 24/7 you're relatively safe, and you're surrounded by helpful folks who understand your vehicle and your needs.
Just don't fuel up and leave your RV parked at the fuel island while you go inside or you'll end up on _Bonehead Truckers!_

We have also stayed in Lowes, and Home Depot. We ask if it's OK and where they prefer that we park. Worked really well, they had us park under a light on the far side of the lot.

We have parked several times for free at truck stops. Having a little store and great showers is a plus. And once when we had a class B a Perkins Restaurant were so nice they allowed us to stay in their parking lot over night after a very nice dinner, we just made sure to leave plenty early the next day.

We overnight at scales truck stops and rest areas along the way. We had to move from a rest area in Montana however due to some man that had been there as well before uI would imagine we arrived and he kept walking back and forth aCross from our rig focusing mainly on the sides of car we pull and the side of rig where the gas tank was at. We drove into Wyoming at a rest area and no problems there. Talk about a beautiful scenery in the morning 😇.

Park outside a place that sells or rents RVs.....outsiders are going to think your part of the retailers fleet and leave you alone
Also park like your waiting to get in a rv park.

Charity, we love your channel & have watched it quite a while, but since you haven’t been to Arkansas yet and that’s our home, but we’re getting closer & closer to full-time RV people because we enjoy it so much, we wanted to mention a part of the state that we’ve grown to really love. It’s Hot Springs. The kids could have fun downtown feeling the hot springs water come out of the side of the mountain, then also pick up some info about how many springs, etc. and actually learn a little bit while you’re there. When our kiddos were little, we used to try to combine learning & fun times and it’s actually come up in school & helped them now & then which made us happy. But there is still an original bathhouse that I recommend (the Buckstaff) that you take the kids to where it’s refurbed like it used to be & you’ll leave with one of the best massages at one of the best prices around. There’s also a craft beer house in one of the old bath houses made from Hot Springs mineral water, an Al Capone museum that’s kind of fun, The Ohio Club which has the longest (and I think prettiest) bar west of the Mississippi, and I could go on. Look at a little research & see if it sounds good to you guys. There’s also a terrific little RV Park that’s part of a Nat’l Park not far from downtown at all that’s got a wonderful stream and beautiful trees near the stream, not huge, not new so there’s no pool for the summer, but there are great places to hike in the beautiful mountains around there and around downtown behind the bathhouses & also behind The Arlington Hotel. The hotel itself is a beautiful antique you might want to at least stick your head in too. Lots of history surrounding it. The RV Park I was referring to is Gulpha Gorge - sounds strange, but it’s beautiful. If we’re home, I’d be glad to be a personal guide, but I’m sure you guys would do great no matter what. I lost my mom just about 6 weeks ago & just now getting my life back so we’re getting back on the road heading to see great grandkids first and onward from there, so there’s no telling where we’ll be, but I just thought I’d give you an opinion on the nicest place in AR. Our kids live in the NW part of the state and lots of people talk about liking it, but it’s basically because of business - Wal-Mart, Tyson, JB Hunt, etc. which is great if you’re wanting to see the businesses up there, but we enjoy our 3 lakes (we live on Lake Hamilton which means we can take our boat to restaurants, bars…). Hope I’ve helped a little. If you’d like, I’d be glad to answer any other questions about any area of the state that might help you with your plans. Stay safe & grateful. Makes me happy to see the “grateful” part of your name. Karen

This video was a great help! I didn't know about Cracker Barrel. We are leaving in 2 weeks for a trip to from Southern California to Colorado and always want to stop in Mesquite Nevada before hitting the Virgin River Gorge. Two years ago we couldn't find anything at 12:00 AM in the morning in Mesquite. Even the Walmart had a sign that said no overnight parking. We drove until we were dangerously tired and checked all the rest stops but all were over full. We FINALLY ended up at a rest stop 2 hours later in Utah. But because of this video I found a place thanks to you. I also never heard of RV Parky. Love it! Thank you! Is the free version of Campendium any good or do you have to buy the yearly membership?

Turned down, after spending $55 at Cracker Barrel, because I was sleeping in my crewcab, not my travel trailer. I left my TT at the RV park I was staying at because I thought I could make a faster 2 way trip because TX was expecting an ice storm. That was 2 nights ago. I ended up sleeping at a truck stop. I needed to make a quick trip to San Antonio and didn't want to take the TT. I should have asked before I spent money there.

Harvest Hosts is not free. On top of paying for the yearly membership, the hosts are now demanding that you spend at least $40 in their establishment whether you want to buy something or not. I just cancelled my membership this year. I get that it’s more of an experience but you can get full hookups for $40 or less overnight at a campground with Passport America.

What is the common practice regarding slides at places like Cracker Barrel? We're in the research phase and the trailer we're looking at doesn't have access to the bed if the slide is in. I've heard that it's not socially acceptable to let your slides out in parking lots. Is that true? Will we have to crash in the recliners or dinette/bed?

    • @GratefulGlamper
