could you not take these sodium ion batteries, add a bms maybe, and make a regular prius a plug in? making any prius a plug in would be an amazing product
On your previous videos you also didn't show a long trip. Also yes other RUclipss only showed a short trip. Thank you for showing the real trip. At least a few hundred miles is good. 1k trip is amazing. 👍
Bearing in mind that the maximum potential discharge power (MAX DISCHRG) displayed in the application is 28HP, which equates to 20kW, this means that at a battery voltage of 240V, the maximum available current is up to 85A!!!
Prius gen 2 + v3GT 45-47MPG. But I do not ride as a pensioner. I work in the delivery of Amazon Flex and Doordash. And I go very dynamically. On highway, I’m going 80 miles per hour. The old original repacked battery could only 33-38 MPG
Nice, I love my previous NEXgen 2 LiFePO4 pack for my gen 3 Prius, and constantly get around 60 mpg/ 25.5 kmpl @ 55 mph/88.5 kmph average, I wonder how much pep the new models have in comparison
Love your videos, I'm surprised you don't have a VLine installed to take advantage of your builtin head unit to the newer generation 😂 keep up the great work, hope one day to upgrade my Prius if it lasts any longer!
My take, stop thinking about it too much and just drive. Using the battery more = it will just degrade faster. I would rather use a bit more gas than have the battery crap out right after the warranty ends.
I have a good tip to save on gas, I have a V2 Prius when you are in stop and go traffic don’t use the heater too much, I guess it uses the water pump, you can test it when you’re using the heater and you’re at a light you’ll hear the engine running, turn off the heater and you’ll hear the engine turns off too
@@John-p7i5g Hi do have a lithium battery from nexpower but still when the engine is running and I turn off the heater the engine stops, I think has to do with the water pump is not electric, it needs to be running in order to get hot water going
@@GLC-1979 I think there’s a mechanical pump driven with a belt, I found this in the internet “Second generation Prius have four water pumps, three electric and one mechanical. The mechanical pump is much like those on conventional four-cylinder engines: it is belt driven and bolted on with a handful of 10mm fasteners. Like regular cars, it also has the potential to leak”
@@GLC-1979 More info not my car “My 2005 Prius just had to have the water pump replaced by the dealer after it froze up and shredded the drive belt at slightly less than 94,000 miles on the odometer. Annoying as I had just had the drive belt replaced the month prior when the brake actuator was replaced at a different Toyota dealer. I went and checked the previous service records on the car and saw that the water pump and drive belt were also replaced around the 50k mark as well. Do these pumps really only last 40-50k miles?”
Sorry, i have to leave this group becauce my Lexus GS 450 H is now in the hybrid heaven. It was a perfect car with toyota auris, prius and other modules. But now it ends. Wish you all the best. With best idears and all what is the best for you. That was my hybrid time, and will be the last.
WHen I've put my Gen2 into N in stuck traffic, it doesn't like it. The Red Triangle goes on after about 15 minutes, and it wants you to recharge the battery. Which is frustrating, sitting in traffic with the ICE running.
Normally you shouldn't have to put it in N. 12V battery, AC, all rely on the high voltage battery so if the engine is coming on periodically, that's normal behavior and expected. The high voltage battery while sitting idle should be able to last some time before being discharged enough to prompt the engine to come on. A weak or old high voltage battery will discharge quickly so more engine cycling occurs. Really just depends on age of battery and the demands on the battery.
What is aprox. shipping cost to Poland? I`m not a heavy driver and I have lots of traffic in my city, so is sodium-ion (instead of V3) better pack thanks to higher capacity?
It depends on how you drive but if you had this GT battery would would get a little more MPG. One day when the battery goes bad, then your have this option now.
I have bought a viecar adaptor from your link from dr prius obd2 guide. I now await its delivery

Nice! I'm desiring the one for Estima, Jack.
Dr Prius app on Prius shows temp three 118 temp 1 and 2 around 98 so temp three is that near fan and why is it high
I got the viecar adaptor from your reccomendation on the app, but it barely connects, when it does it might lose connection in a few

Hello , so about the oil.. - should I use the 0w20 instead of 5w30 in my Prius Gen 2 - in the winter time?
Please! Add engine temperature to Dr Prius app!

This is because the NiMH is not very high capacity.

I just bought one of these, I also have heard some complaints about some over heating, how true is the over heating or nothing to worry about ?
The GT? I have the older V2.5 and it ran cooler for me and upgrading to this one now and using my old one in another car.
These Sodium batteries will not overheat, you heard wrong.
I have the V3 GT and it runs very cool because of the low internal resistance.
