@@alexm5764 Perhaps my first critique was a trifle harsh; after relistening to the original version with an open ear, I'll concede it has a certain charm...
I always thought that Ezrin’s kids in the background made it sound goofy... much better without them... but there were some sound effects removed, like at the end of the song
I wonder if it is actually true about Ezrin"s kids or perhaps a studio story?? I say this because a couple of years ago I slowed the audio down digitally and some of the voices were Paul Stanleys voice sped up!!!! ;-/
@@ViceSquad according to Ezrin a couple interviews that I heard, he said it was his kids. I believe one of his sons in that recording died from a drug overdose.
I have to agree, when you take out the kids, the whole nature of the song is much more dark and ominous. For instance at the interim after that first verse, you can clearly hear Genes bass and that heavy a-- low note that almost blew my speaker. Also, the Ace solo is f'n wicked without the kid yelling, yah yah yah. A side note, me and my brother first heard this, in like 77 ish, we would sneak into our older brothers room and rummage through his albums after he left for school, and we always thought at the beginning of the original song with the kids that he started off with, "Okay, Dr. Maxwell". Does anyone know what they actually say.
While it's cool to hear it like this, it doesn't sound better than the original imo. This sounds like it's missing something, the kid voice made it sound darker. This version makes you kinda realize how simple and few riffs there are in this song.
Yes! I have always thought the same! I prefer the song without the children's voice. Indeed, they never should have been there... They made no sense... Greetings from Italy!

This is the version from the compilation LP “Killers”. The differences come from that take, quite interesting to say the least. The label made them drop this collection after Music from the Elder bombed, so somehow because of that, we wound up with this and tracks like “I’m A Legend Tonight” and “Partners In Crime” also appeared here too
@@ColtraneTaylor Just that one and one for Detroit Rock City without the intro, the rest on that LP are mostly versions of tracks that were already out there or were the new tracks. It’s not a particularly noteworthy release, and even as a greatest hits, Double Platinum was released a few years earlier and that is much better.
obviously, to me, the version with the kid's fx was Bon Ezrin's idea probably coked out of his mind THIS is how it should've been mixed onto the album. if Gene's character through Paul's eyes who wrote it is the God of Thunder this is a pulsating rock song NOT a kiddie show.
The ONLY thing I didn't like about the original on the Destroyer album is the kid in the background. Other than that, it's an awesome song. One of their best.
Much better version. Ezrin was a good producer and made many great choices in the production - giving this Paul song to Gene, slowing it down, the intro before Detroit Rock City etc - but for every good choice he made he made a bad one as well - the kids and toy guns, the stupid ”carnival” sound of Flaming Youth, letting crap like Sweet Pain and Great Expectations to get to the album etc.
I don't know who's stupid idea it was to put kids voices on this song, but they completely ruined the whole album. The concert version is a lot better than the version with the kids voices

Thank you, I don't know why this isn't the original version in the first place. It just flows so much better without outside noise.
I'll always love the original album version, but it would be nice to have this version too. Really cool. Dark, menacing, and pure Demon. Thanks!

Well now i can finally hear the guitar solo!
Awesome version of this song. As others have said, it should have been released like this.
Instead of the kids they should have had thunder rumbling at the beginning, kick in the song and end it with Gene laughing like a Demon
That would be PERFECT!! THUNDER!!!! ⛈ ⛈ ⛈

that's the title of the song are the sounds of kids' gibberish supposed to make it less scary? Please!
