Building a Mid-Budget Tacoma for Jason Lucas

- Our friend Jason Lucas from IFHT & Mahalo My Dude came by to have us build out the suspension, wheels and tires on his brand new Toyota Tacoma. We installed the full Bilstein 6112/5160 suspension combo, along with a Deaver Add-A-Leaf kit and Icon Delta Joint UCA's. For the rubber, we installed 285/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks onto Method 701 wheels. To clear them, we did some trimming and a cab mount chop, as well as welded the cam tabs!
It was a super fun build, and we are stoked on the end result for a solid budget build!

You guys are the best! Thanks for making my truck 69,000% sicker! - Jason
Stoked to work on it! Let's go camping!
What connection to Hawai’i do you have?
My worlds just colided.
Love your no BS, minimal hype, down to earth Canadian style. 🤜
Damn. This was a sick video! Well done to the whole crew. So much work. If you ever feel like working on a Land Rover, let me know 😆🙈
We did a bunch of work on one old defender, and that was enough for us 😂
Y’all’s videography just keeps getting better & better!!! 😁 sick🔥 mate!
If I ever get a taco, I'm asking for the Jason package from you guys
Great video!
Good taste in mods! So what's the rough cost estimate on this mid-budget? Lift, wheel, & tire specs?
Great vid and love the Mahalo dudes...what constitutes a mid-bidget ($-wise) on a Tacoma lift?
That Snap-On torque. mmm
I have the Methods with Wildpeaks as well and I fucking love it! Good choice!
Nice.
Siiiick! Greetings from Ventura,CA. When’s the next Baja trip?
We dream of going again!! Hopefully sooner than later!
Cant wait till my warranty is up lol
This is the dude from Pinkbike? He looks familiar.
he recently left pinkbike, and joined back with the boys at Mahalo my Dude
Are these add a leafs the 3 leaf pack or single leaf? Did you leave the stock overload leaf in when you installed the add a leaf?
Man I wish they were in Washington state 😢
so weird to see, i build these shocks. the 2 different colors of paint on the springs help us know if its the correct shock being installed on the truck. we use a machine to compress them, add the top hat, dampner, and nut. then we put it on the arm with the ball joint and slide them down a chute to be installed onto the axle. Its one of the first processes that goes into building these trucks
Nice work!
That's really cool, I would love to tour a facility like that and see all the details that go into building a truck from the factory! Thanks for the message and insight, I love that stuff.
You are the first person I’ve seen who not only has the same name as me, but spells it the exact same way
Can I use those same wheels in my Tacoma without any modifications?
Do you recommend getting a tacoma regeared?
Would you reccomend new UCAs with a ~1.5" lift? I'm replacing my rear springs with Deaver 9 leaf Stage 1 (2" lift, probably 1.5" lift with ~300lb bed weight); thinking of 6112s / 5160 for new shocks?
With the stock springs I'm riding the bumpstops.
I only ride park!
You guys seem to use the method 701s alot whats the lowest psi you run them at
What sliders are those? And what’s the wheel specs?
What kind of lift does this package give
太美妙了🎉
Sick truck. Probably a similar build I’d do. What’s the cost minus labour
Shoot us an email!
Do you know what bed rack model Jason has in his tacoma? need one that won't interfere with the bikes. thanks
It's one that we make in house! We have them in stock right now. Check our website and search for o2 bedrack
Those front struts don’t add travel to the truck, do they?
They actually do add a little bit, but not as much as an extended travel king or fox
With the larger wheels/tires did you guys do a gear ratio change on his truck as well?
We did not. I would say 33s are at the edge of being okay without a regear. Anything bigger it would be recommended.
all i hear is the gearing is too long stock so...
are the methods hub centric and what size tire?
They have the correct size hub, but are lug centric, as are almost all aftermarket wheels. The tires are 285/70r17
