I was a hedonist and I found that it only increased my suffering 1000 fold.
Even today in meditation one of my biggest struggles is to overcome the bad karma that I developed during this period of my life.
It always comes up and sometimes my whole practice is grappling with the past.
Some things can never be undone once done and make being here now exponentially more difficult.
Nevertheless I will keep the discipline and keep trying. Every day I am determined to continue, until I can find freedom from the past and the future and samsara.

Thank you Bhante, on the subject of fun and parties. If I break down each aspect I discover Im not having that much fun. For me what happens is I get excited, I want to look good, I want to meet girls. But I dont seem to really enjoy that excitement. My mind is scattered, my heart is racing. Now when I arrive I have to compare myself to others which is uncomfortable, then maybe a few drinks and I go home and think about the evening. I wake up the next morning a little slow and groggy. For the couple hours of fun I spent a lot of time being uncomfortable. Bhante uses the phrase cool down. It takes a lot of time to cool down.

Thank you for all of your talks, I am slowly making my way through them. I am a mother to a young child and my hope is to follow this path and be released from rebirth. My question is on meditation. I do meditate, almost every day, but I use guided meditations to do so. I've heard you speak on just sitting silently and following the breath. Is this something I should do instead or maybe in addition to guided meditations? Thank you for how clearly you explain things, it is very calming and enlightening to listen to your talks.

When I thought about becoming a monk one of the things which couldn't stop to worry me was the case of Nanavira Thera - the thought of contracting some kind of stomach problem, which with offered food in tropical countries is not so hard - ruining the meditation practice just because you cannot stop focusing on your health issue.

Thankyou. I like your natural straighforward style, reminding us to keep it simple, even though some commentators are determined to complicate things :)
But don't your knees and bum hurt sitting like that for long time? I wouldn't be able to stand up after like you :)
    Peace 🙏

Thank you for you videos Bhante. You have taught me a lot and made me re-interestered in Buddhism. For the longest time I perceived ascetic Buddhism as a form of nihilism. Now talks about the dharma seem to help me find some much needed peace. I do wonder about the sage / incense that is burning in the background. Is it a ritual thing? Does it hold any significance? Since listening to music or entertaining yourself is not a part of the monastic lifestyle then isn’t this incense just another distraction? I don’t mean to point fingers or sound ignorant! I am sincerely curious and willing to learn. Perhaps I don’t understand Buddhism well enough yet. Or maybe I am being to rigid... /Wish you all the best

Dear Banthe, l like to ask you for explanation of ritual which you doing, l mean pujas and bowling to Buddha, do you consider existing others realms where the Buddha existing? Or just doing rituals as Theravada Buddhist Monastry established?
As l have make some research teachings of Theravada Buddhist Ajans , they are make testimony of existing devas and quiet many of them have skills to communicate with others realms.
Thank you so much for your teachings Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu

FOLLOWED. Just for the record. I had an orange forest cat named Tobias when I grew up. He embodied the teachings, specifically the theravada teachings, so I prefer vajra. It is like animal kung-fu styles, inspired by watching animals. He lives on in cat paradise. Even though the catholic church can't believe it. Thats kinda ironic, isn't it. It is called the Catholic Church! Anyways, I set a community post up with the comic I wanted to show you, it's something about the second noble truth. It is very venorable, no puns this time. Its something that happened to me, that really made me reconsider. It will release 23:40 budapest time. Sorry for pushing it on your channel.

Here in the United States, a monk has no legal place to stay outside a monastery. Camping/sleeping is illegal in most places as is begging for food. Until recently arresting people just for being homeless didn't fly, but a recent Supreme Court decision has changed that.
How could a monk live here in the US without the patronage of a monastery? I'm legitimately considering trying to make it work despite the law since monasteries are (almost) nonexistent here in the US.
