I fraught this problem since the beginning of time I like to use OEM belts I have to order them that’s the hold up. I usually keep a set of OEM belts in stock I tried a NAPA 25-7355 it needs to be just a tad shorter it does fit better than any other than an OEM belt. DO NOT GET A DACO IT WILL NOT HOLD UP if you get to the end of the adjuster and force it you will damage the adjuster. EVERY ONE!!!! Of these things I work on give belt trouble they are going to come back with a belt squeaks OEM are not…. It’s just a fact of life a pattern failure on them…

I'm having the same problem, my alternator fan belt is too short, do you know which belt it is? You might have mentioned it. I have a 97. the adjusting bracket does not have enough space for me to tighten the belt

try looking for Gates belts; their catalog is correct and two of the belts are specific to this particular truck.

Ernest H I found the catalog just now - the two special belts Gates makes for the '96-'97 truck are:
power steering: 9453M (1/16 wider, 1/8 shorter than the "normal" 9455 belt)
air conditioning: 9362M (1/16 wider, 1/4 shorter than "normal" 9365 belt)
The alternator belt should be 3/8 (or 13/32) but some catalogs have it listed incorrectly as 7/16 or 1/2")
