So interesting....I haven't read the Eco Horror book book adding it to my TBR. I plan on starting Our Share of Night next. I read Incidents Around the House and I hated it. I dnf'd it half way through. I couldn't stand the parents and thought they were awful. It's funny how everyone has different reading tastes. Great video!

It is so funny in a great/interesting way, isn't it? One of the reasons I always love talking about books :) Thank you!! Curious what you think of Our Share Of Night.

Love the series! Fall is my favorite season, and my reading interests this time of the year reflect this. I just placed a library request for Incidents Around The House. Can’t wait to read it. Earlier this year, I checked out Our Wives Under the Sea but wasn’t compelled to read it. I need to check it out again. I primarily read literary fiction, so thanks for the creepy recommendations. 🤗👍🏼

oMg Suzanne, Josh Malerman is one of my favorite 👻 authors! I know you have Bird Box and the sequel Malorie. If you are looking for a good Gothic Horror, I recommend his other book Unbury Carol. Also, A House at the bottom of a Lake, Black Mad Wheel and Inspection!

Just finished The Eyes Are the Best Part for body horror and What Moves the Dead for gothic horror. Would recommend both, though I enjoyed The Eyes Are the Best Part more. My favorite horror book this year was The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis. It is homoerotic serial killer 80s theme :)

The Eyes Are The Best Part is totally on my radar, but adding What Moves The Dead now, thank you!! I am glad to hear you liked The Eyes, I was just starting to hear people talk about that book. The Shards was also one I was considering, but will add it now based on what you said, so thank you again!!

I've read Cell by Stephen King, & I enjoyed it, but it's a bit of a departure from his earlier books, which is good in a way - but some of his fans didn't mesh with it - as I said, I thought it was good, but I went back to the final few pages to make sure I got the ending, because there was a bit of intentional ambiguity there.
The last 5 star horror read for me was The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein, written in the 80s. It doesn't seem to get a lot of love because of it's literary style, but I thought it was great, as did Stephen King, who wrote a long blurb singing it's praises
If folksy type horror, appeals to you - along with a hideous alien/supernatural entity which hops from body to body, & a teacher who reads & reviews Gothic horror novels, then give it a shot.
It's a long book, but it's packed with weird incidents - & it includes a very memorable cat.....
    Thanks for your reviews..

I loved Our Share of Night, and consider it occult horror. I have a lot of familiarity with the occult, though, and thought while reading it that someone who didn't wouldn't get as much out of the story. It did take most of the book for everything to come together--but my occult knowledge helped me see some implications that weren't spelled out.
I wouldn't consider it gothic and am surprised people call it that. I can understand not enjoying it if you were looking for something gothic.

That is really interesting, I would love to hear someone who is familiar with the occult discuss that book!

No not Cell…that’s his lowest rated one or close to it…you’ll never read another one lol Misery would be a good one…although not for eco horror I guess lol

Thankfully I have read a lot of Stephen King's writing so it won't deter me from him altogehter, but bummer to hear this isn't a great one. Hopefully you set my expectations realistically and I can at least get a kick out of the storyline.
