Thanks for posting this. When I was a kid, I used to hang out at a place called The Outpost in Red River NM. I got to see both BW and Fromholz and many other folks like Murphey, Bill and Bonnie Hearne, Guy Clark, Larry Groce and others. Ray Hubbard, Wayne Kidd and Rick Fowler (Three Faces West) had converted and old laundramat into a Coffee/Cider music venue and it became one of the coolest music venues for a few years, anywhere, anytime. Steve Howard joined them after Ray left.
Thanks for the flashback. If you're a fan or interested in this genre. KNON 89.3 in Dallas has been promoting this Lone Star state of mind for over 40 years now. Tune in to Renegade radio show Mon-Fri at 4pm. Or listen to a archived broadcast at Spinitron/KNON.💖💖
I vaguely remember watching a concert filmed at McFarland Auditorium back in 1974 featuring Jerry Jeff and the Lost Gonzo Band broadcast on KERA, Dallas TX. The first two songs must be from this concert. It was an hour concert, do you have the rest of the concert available? Some of the songs would later appear on Jerry Jeff's "A Man Must Carry On" live side. This was before VCR's became widely available and I have been hoping some PBS station would re-broadcast this so I could record it in some form.
Hello. I have it all! There were certain songs that they chose to use for the official episode. The actual concert was 2 hours and 15 minutes. For some reason or another it was originally filmed with 4 cameras, then the director chose his songs for the hour long, and then he put all 4 cameras on a quad screen and filmed that. Basically I have access to the show but it is the pre edited version (a recording of the original recording off of 4 shitty 1970's monitors)The audio is fine, but the resolution will be very poor. Its hard to explain but I hope you understand what I am saying. Folks these days don’t appreciate just how hard it was to take all the FILM (miles of actual film reels)from an event like this, splice cuts, and then accurately overlay the audio track in top of it. I also have a bunch of (behind the scenes) footage from the shows where you can hear the unique rhythmic shouting of the director as he encourages, scolds, clarifies, jokes, and keeps on top of the performance and camera crew to ensure the right angles are available of the concert. I have both the director chatter and the music tapes of each episode so let me know if you would like them uploaded!
I don't think it was ever released, he says "This is a new song that nobody's heard, it is for us" so thats my best guess. Spent a few hours trying to find it, went through all of his albums and everything else I could find and nothing. Good luck figuring it out!
