Can the strap be completely detachable so that you can add one of your own shorter straps to it?

Hi! Have been looking into buying this bag - but there is one thing that worries me. Based on your experience - what is the wear and tear of that strap considering that the strap is always bent in those metal hooksand may/may not experience some brushing against them during everyday movement. Does your strap still look good or did you have to change it?

Hello, the wear and tear is good. My strap still looks new. This is not my everyday bag, but I do wear it out on the weekends (crossbody and handle).
