Hi Jonathan, I don't usually leave comments but I have to tell you your videos are so peaceful! I enjoy the zen music and scenery, you line everything up perfectly! Your meals look amazing (though this one was a quick meal 🙂) and your POSITIVE energy is infectious and I love it!! Thank you for the AWESOME job you do!! I look forward to watching every video you put out! ❤️
Jonathan, I brought a bee keeper hat on Amazon, because so many RUclips videos are complaining about the bugs this year. I keep it in my camper. I'm very sad to say I can't drink sake anymore, I love it but all the meds I take say no alcohol. That lake is incredible.
PS- I once had over 120 mosquito bites at same time after a backpacking trip 😄🤦♂️ I head antiperspirant on your feet keeps them away, but who knows what to believe right
What a fun camping trip. As always you have awesome videography. Did you know that burning herbs in your campfire help repel mosquitoes? The best herbs to burn in your campfire are Lavender, Mint, Lemon balm and/or Sage. We use Lavender and Sage a lot. Have a great week. Mary💕Fred
Natural mosquitoe repellent: Citronella oil, eucalyptus oil & sesame oil. Started using it this summer & have not been eaten. Try it, got the recipe from an elder.
A lot of rain the past 30 days in North East Indiana, Mosquitoes are out of control here too. Great Video. FYI Gas is coming down, Today 4.22 gallon Reg, Cheers. See u next week.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. I live full time in my truck camper off the 84 along the Columbia for over a year now while I work at various construction projects on the WA and OR side. I’m a halfy like you and I also get eaten alive by mosquitos. I had a couple laughs with this one I could totally relate to having to open and close the door to grab something real quick before the flying bastards get inside and lurk on the camper shell ceiling waiting to eat us. Keep up the great content, shots, etc. love your work 🤙
You should go get one of those mosquito things think its called thermacell it has a 15 ft radius and apparently it works...I saw another person using it on here and he seemed like the bug and mosquitos weren't bothering him...also if you mix lysterine and water in a spray bottle and spray it around your truck area it should cut down on the bugs....my sister did it one time when we were camping around our campsite and we didn't have any mosquitos but it's also getting the mixture right lol...anyway hope you have found a way to keep the bugs away
I've heard some folks take a B complex vitamin to help avoid mosquitoes. I haven't tried it yet but I do have a mosquito zapper that works well and attracts them instead of myself. Mosquitoes don't like the wind so a fan is also useful.
You and I both... I try to tell my friends about how much the mosquitos like me and no one believes me tell the next day when I have bites everywhere and my friends have literally none.
Regarding the mosquitoes, besides using DEET on your skin, you should try some permethrin, spray on your clothes, hat etc. and let dry this has worked well for me.
Make sure, after you put your drink down, to check if a bee or wasp has gotten into it. I knew someone who picked up his coke can, started drinking from it..and swallowed a bee. It stung him inside his throat, and the swelling caused by that sting cut off his air supply. The medics cut a hole in his throat, called a Tracheostomy, to let him breathe again, and that saved his life. Good luck on your trips, and stay safe.
Jonathan, Try using a good lavender essential oil to apply to exposed skin. It will repel mosquitos. And spiders hate lavender also. If you do get bit by mosquitos, tea tree oil (melaleuca) works great on itch & swelling
When you breath out, it’s the makeup of your exhalation that draws them. I am also one of those that mosquitos flock too. Everyone else is good but I am the one always running back to the vehicle…
I loved that inflatable paddle board. It looked sooo peaceful out there. Those mosquitoes are really bad. Disease carriers as well. When we lived in NOLA, every evening and into the night were thick. We covered ourselves in BACKWOODS . I think it must have been straight DEET. I swore that the national bird in NOLA should be changed to the Mosquito. Lol. I loved the background music. Zenned me out. The Lake was beautiful with all the conifers going right down to the water. As for that healthy MaC n Cheese AKA High Protein concoction, I don't think it was your thing but okay if you're in a pinch like you were. At least the brewsky was good. Great content as always. Be safe and see you next time.👍
Such a beautiful lake. So serene. The music is perfect. The warmth of the sun upon you is so awesome. Relaxing. Enjoy your adventure and thank you for sharing with us. So sorry the insects created so much misery. I camped at a mountain high lake one summer and the mosquitos ruined the trip. The dog tried to hide from them on the trucks floorboard. We broke up camp at about 5 am it was so bad. Looked at clock when we finally arrived home and it was only 10am. Probably can call that trip worst camping trip in my 69 years. Keep the great videos coming.
Oh man, Mount Hood was slammed with people this weekend. I went three places to fish, and there were people everywhere. Lots of great, non-mosquito sites to park for the night and enjoy a fire out by Zig Zag though. Hopefully fewer mosquitos on your next outing. Happy trails!
Seeing you go up and down the flight of stairs the thought crossed my mind, "Oh, to be young again." However, your flying insect encounters did provide me with many chuckles.
Get a thermacell for mosquitoes . they work great. They heat up a small paper pad with some kind of repellant in them and last 4 hours. The fuel cartridge last 12 hours. Unless they have come up with a new one ? Anyway thought I would share that rid bit of info. Can't let the bugs win. Lolo
Hey Jonathan, been watching ya for quite awhile and really enjoy your adventures. Been wanting to do the same but on the east coast it’s definitely not the same. So I have the same issues with misquotes and was told to try lavender dryer sheets to rub on your skin and put the sheets in your pockets. So far it’s been working for me. Hopefully it’ll help you as well Stay safe out there!!!
Yes, I want to see you standup on your paddle board. I love the we ay the conifers come right down to my shoreline. It's absolutely beautiful and the water looks so pristine. It's so quiet, peaceful. zen like. I love these videos.
Well, that was interesting... While driving to the lake you stopped and enjoyed a large can of beer. Then you drove a bit more and got slammed on several bottles of Saki of which is packed with lots of Alcohol... A trip down to the lake and a light dip to wake up your senses. Then you opted to drive yet again, and yes your video shows that you were showing signs of intoxication. When you're pulled over for drunk driving, make sure to record the experience so we can all enjoy it. You can even record your Community Service time...🍻🥂🍹🍷🍺
I FULLY feel what you’re saying about mosquitoes loving your blood man! I do landscaping and handyman work and am usually outside working most days. It’s amazing how I can stand next to someone else and LITERALLY every bug around is eating me alive while not touching the person I’m with. It’s frustrating, but we gotta love with our sweet, sweet blood!
the best way to avoid bugs, sunburn and toxic insect spray is to wear a water soaked hoodie with the hood up over your head. When you wear a baseball cap and a t shirt you are just asking for trouble--also keep you trousers tucked into your socks to keep tics off of you.
In Australia (Queensland) we would drink bottles of San Pellegrino sparkling water for the mozzies and found that worked a bit. Also used Deet but I don't like using to many things with chemicals.
The sound of the water as you were paddling was so relaxing. You certainly got a great workout. About the mosquitoes, Jonathan, go online to check out some natural remedies. I also remember reading in a book years ago that a vitamin B supplement can cause you to be less attractive to mozzies (as we call them in Australia!) I tried it, and it does work.
The campground I went to turned out to *🐝* ...... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 *PERFECT TIMING* ... Man I always have to stop your video because you make me miss the next part and I can't stop laughing! You're a stresshead (not as bad as me trust me 😉) but you also have the calm which is awesome! Keep on being you Jonathan 😁 Cat OZ 🙌
Loved the Awesome views! Paddleboarding looked like alot of fun ! Yes you should go fishing off your paddleboard! Great workout up and back on those stairs for sure! Mosquitos love me too. Citranella torches work well for mosquitos. Another great video!! Love sake will have to try it. Salud. Peace.
Nice! Sake is the only alcohol I can drink sometimes a cold beer an occasional margarita . I had know idea there is 400 different types of sake I’ll be signing up I want to try all the different kinds. Thanks ! Cathy O
i mix lavender, peppermint oil, lemon eucalyptus oil (not the same as eucalyptus oil) , citronella oil, and rosemary (5 drops each) in 2oz of carrier oil as natural mosquito repellent. I have honey blood as well therefore I would not go outside unless exposed skin is covered with this oil blend. For bites I use calendula ointment (you can find a small glass jar of it on Amazon) or natural aloe vera (cut some stem and rub the slime on your skin) to stop itch.
Hi there Jonathan. Been watching for awhile. Love your channel. I too am loved by mosquitoes. So I take a garlic pill everyday. Cannot use the ones that say odorless as it takes away most of what is great about garlic. I live in Florida. So since I started taking them no more mosquitoes for me. And no horrible odor or breathe . At least not with me. So I have a lot of health issues and this little capsule has made my life better in Florida as I love the outdoors. So I hope it helps you as it has me. Have a great day Jonathan.
I so much enjoy his videos. They give me a feeling tranquility to watch. I’m a loner even though I have a gf I love being outdoors adventures and I am away from home for months on end. This brings me joy to see others Enjoy adventure. Get out there go live a life of adventure
Hey Jonathan! Great videos! We camp and travel often in our converted shuttle bus camper, so we know about those bugs!! Get a Thermacell or two. They actually work! We just came back from the UP of Michigan where bugs are notoriously bad, and came out pretty good. I always get ate up but only got a few bites with using the Thermacell!!! We have also found that burning incense also works to keep the bugs at bay too! Hope that helps!! ✌🏻Happy travels!!
I like Avon skin so soft. You have to find an Avon rep. But in the wild you can forage for wild plants that you can rub on yourself for bugs. Search foraging for wild edibles. A vet once told me it’s all a matter of different people and their diets. My hubby does not get pestered. But I get attacked really bad
Just a thought I've been doing inflatable rafts for 20 yrs. For me when I can't use the truck power. A foot pump is so much easier on your body then what your using. Even when I was younger those up an down pumps were exhausting.
Do you tie a line to yourself and the paddle board in case you fall off? I know with my bad sense of balance I would have fallen into the water. LOL. I would definitely wear a life jacket although I do know how to swim, I am not a strong enough swimmer to swim to shore if my craft sinks or gets away from me. You are living my dream. Great videos.
ANOTHER FINE vid; NOW I want a truck w/camper back, so I can experience FREEDOM…! (Vicariously living the camper life alongside you..!) (I’d make a difference: I’d secure window coverings for EVERYTHING…. 😬👍🏼👣
I just noticed how beautiful your landscapes look. Its downright cinematic! I have been attempting to capture the beauty of the outside world on my streams but damn, do i desperately need upgrades to my equipment! Although if i made a video for youtube i could use my photography camera instead of this garbage phone haha. Kind of inspiring me to try for better before winter shuts down almost all my ability to stream outside.
Awesome video , where is the gorgeous lake you visited ? I'm looking at truck campers to do some lake hopping and hope to see some places like that in person. I suggest picking up a mesh tent for situations where skeeters and flies are thick like that. Set up a mesh tent with a fold out table an do your cooking outside protected from those little blood suckers ! Ha, Safe Travels to you !
Yes, please get some videos of yourself fishing from the paddleboard. That is my exact plan for next summer. I'm getting an inflatable paddleboard with a couple of seats, so my daughter and I can fish from it.
If you want an old time solution to mosquitoes biting you, try a wooden match. Have you ever noticed an old timer chewing on a match? The sulphur off of the match head gets in your bloodstream. Ticks, mosquitoes, most bloodsuckers and drinkers, will avoid that smell. Also, wear white clothing as much as you can. I suppose sulphur could be taken in doses, but using the time consuming method of chewing makes it a time release booster to the accumulated sulpher already in your body. Within a week, you'll see a reduction in bites, and you will no longer have to worry about bug or human intimacy. 😎👍
Hello I'm your new subscriber from Philippines..I was amazed watching your vlogs...I just watched recently those a year ahead and still watching them 👍
Johnathan , the Lost Coast is no joke. I have driven from Shelter Cove North to Honeydew. This is a stretch without services, such as towing. I don't know anyone that has driven it. I did it in a vintage van.
I get bit up by mosquitoes also, I think it's a certain blood type or sweet blood. And I've read that taking vitamin B1 helps to prevent them from biting you.
My daughter , granddaughter and I went kayaking at Canadice lake NY yesterday. We were out for around four and a half hours, Which is a long time with a three year old. The lake was beautiful and though it was hot we fought the wind the whole way out and the whole way back! The wind literally changed course. We got back to the launch and two ladies packing up got talking and one says to the other, boy is it me or did the wind change on us? My daughter and I busted up laughing and told them that we had just had that exact conversation about five minutes ago. We all had a good laugh. Have a safe week!
@Pat Luxor, was that sarcasm? My granddaughter absolutely loves going out on the kayaks. She has been on one literal!y since conception. We take her on many types of adventures that many little ones don't get the opportunity to participate in. I want Maggie to love being outdoors doing things she loves doing. I do think my daughter is doing a great job exposing Maggie to real life. Not all kids are attached to electronic devices 24/7. If that wasn't sarcasm then thanks. By the way we do stop several times during the outing to let Maggie get out of the boat and play in the water, hike around ( with Mom) eat a picnic lunch and do some geocaching along the lake. But she does love the paddling parts of the day too. And we always wear life jackets.
I have never seen a mountain lion anywhere in Western NY. New Mexico has them but I never saw one in the wild. We are more likely to run across a black bear, which I have seen here. But I have never in my fifty four years have I heard of a bear attacking kayakers on the lake. If I worried about every possible danger factor, we would sit in the house every day. What kind of life is that for anyone?
I usually add a touch of butter and/or a little bit of milk to my Mac & cheese whether or not it calls for it. Always makes it a little creamier and smoother. I don’t always follow cooking directions. I will add my own touch to most anything.
When I was a kid, family went up to "Blowout Creek", here in Oregon, and we were swarmed in the station wagon and they got inside, and it was awful... I woke up back home in bed...
Jonathan it’s time! Time to buy a ThermoCell for the mosquitoes. I watch several camping videos and about three of them use them regularly. Steve Wallis uses it. Loved that lake.
Try doterra essential oil called Terra Shield … I know it works because mosquitos love me as well. Especially during camping. I use it and it is non toxic to our skin … or try lighting a pit fire that also helps
Wahtum lake! Love that spot it’s peaceful and beautiful. If you want a great view of Mt hood ,and a few other volcanoes in the area. You can hike up to Chinidere mountain from the lake.
For weekend outings paying for campsites is probably nice. However, I'm a full-time nomad and like my privacy so boondocking works best for me. I've heard catnip is a great gnat, mosquito, and flea repellent. Going to give that a try. Will probably have to play around with the potency to get it right. That was quite a workout putting air in your paddle board! Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
You obviously put in a lot of work with all those camera angles and it pays off in your well done videos. Thanks for sharing your adventures 😊
I love that you took a dip in the Lake. Brings one'as senses to life. Cold jolt is as good for the soul and the body. Plus you got your workout.💕

Fishing from the paddle board ? Yes please. I hear you on the mosquitos…so not worth it! Your mountain shots are stellar.👍🏾🙂
That Water looks so Wonderful! The scenery is just Magnificent!
Love the inflatable paddle board. Props to u for doing the extra shots of the walk back up with that heavy backpack and tired after paddle and swim.
PS- I once had over 120 mosquito bites at same time after a backpacking trip 😄🤦♂️ I head antiperspirant on your feet keeps them away, but who knows what to believe right
Ohh and may want to pack a life vest for that paddle board 👍

Love your videos brother. I cracked open a Lager and enjoyed one with ya! Enjoy the freedom of creation.
Your hard work in these videos deserves more subs and views! Great video as always 💙
Appreciate it!!
Hi from Japan.
It's a very nice camp.
I never thought that sake would appear! 😄
My goodness did it ever look delishious
!!!!!
lol, tipsy is what we are drinking all that stuff and walking around all that woods ,ha ha lol.
Such a relaxing and peaceful video☺️. Yes, fish from the paddle board. 😁
...oh, and I really like how you work clips of wonderful scenery into your videos...puts one like we're almost there too!
Really enjoyed this video. What a beautiful spot. The inflatable board was super nice. So relaxing to just follow along with you. Thanks
A lot of rain the past 30 days in North East Indiana, Mosquitoes are out of control here too. Great Video. FYI Gas is coming down, Today 4.22 gallon Reg, Cheers. See u next week.
I have seen so many women doing truck camping, you are the first guy. Have fun ,enjoy , and be safe !
Beautiful cinematography at 11:10. Your filmmaking skills keep improving episode to episode.
Too bad about the insects I too have your problem with them. I take vitamin B1 and it seems to help. Cool paddle board and thank you
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. YO J!!! Definitely want to see you fish off the Paddle-Board; looks like it would be a good time.
Definitely!! It's on the list for future vids for sure 👍
I really liked the part where you had your paddle boat and was able to go swimming too, Very serene.
Loved watching this. I will never get to go camping so I enjoyed your experiences. Thank you so much.
Yes indeed... That lake is. Super nice... Glad you stayed the scenes were great... We just needed some fish...

Perfect choice for the music while you were paddling on the lake!! Love your videos!!
In Australia (Queensland) we would drink bottles of San Pellegrino sparkling water for the mozzies and found that worked a bit.
Also used Deet but I don't like using to many things with chemicals.
I've camped my entire adult life. I'm currently 71 years old. I hate bugs.

You need to get a portable Thermacell to keep those pesky mosquitoes away. Happy travels! Hello from Toronto!
I so much enjoy his videos. They give me a feeling tranquility to watch. I’m a loner even though I have a gf I love being outdoors adventures and I am away from home for months on end. This brings me joy to see others Enjoy adventure. Get out there go live a life of adventure
You should try to look into Thermal cell. They work great to keep the mosquitoes away from you if the wind is not to strong.
Gorgeous scenery, mountain views, thank you! First time watching one of your videos, I'm impressed😊
Thanks for the great video! I really love your new setup. Seems like the perfect setup for a adventure/ short term living rig.
So far so good :-) Thanks for watching!

Hey, good work, thanks for taking us along. Mosquitos? Not the worst. You could still see the sky. Try camping in Canada in June.

Been catching up with your videos recently, and I'm loving the vibe!
@Pat Luxor have you had a three year old snatched out of a kayak on a lake?
I usually add a touch of butter and/or a little bit of milk to my Mac & cheese whether or not it calls for it. Always makes it a little creamier and smoother. I don’t always follow cooking directions. I will add my own touch to most anything.
You need to get the Thermocell mosquito repellent. Runs off batteries. Steve Wallis from “hunker down” uses it. Says it works pretty good!
Note to self: 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️Re organize all utensils…. Lol 😂 😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed you video! You are so wholesome and it's also fun to watch you live a happy camping trip.
It’s a little chilly now… YOLO!! it looked so fun

When I was a kid, family went up to "Blowout Creek", here in Oregon, and we were swarmed in the station wagon and they got inside, and it was awful... I woke up back home in bed...
Nice to have a bag that the board goes back into!
Get a couple Thermacells, they work really well at keeping mosquitoes away.
That’s a different version of bugging out! 😂😂 🦟🦟

Spring in the Oregon Cascades is mosquito central.
Dude, mosquitoes have always loved me too! I lived in Florida for most of my childhood too, where I unlovingly call the mosquitoes the State Bird 😆
