How on earth did he get to the ball in the first point and then hit a winner without touching the net?? Unbelievable. Not even Monfils could have gotten that. Nishikori is of the super athletes on tour.

if Nishikori could only pick beating Nadal once between 2014 Madrid final and 2016 Olympics bronze medal match, I'm sure he would pick bronze any day

@@lotus630 that’s a good point but I have to disagree. Beating the king of clay on clay to actually win the tournament (rather that coming third to win bronze medal) is a much bigger win. Also remember not many players can say that they have won a masters even now in 2021, it was even less likely in 2014. Its great that he got the medal and also a slam final, as well as many other masters finals. But for me the Madrid final 2014 is definitely the one that got away and the one he would have cherished the most. Let’s not forget he would have won the match if his body didn’t give out.
