Most streamers don’t like putting their feet on stream just because there is a history of creeps getting off to it, or making it weird in chat, either ironically or otherwise. lol Streamers typically want to avoid the potential headache entirely.

8 weeks before COVID shutdown I got a hip surgery, which had me bed ridden for 4-6 weeks (and somewhat after it). I remember laying in bed (hip in pain...) after shutdown watching this in glorious schadenfreude that perfectly encapsulated the beginning of the COVID shutdown. What a time!
To add some real advice since I don’t see it here, even if the flue is open, you also want to burn a bit of newspaper for a couple minutes or so up the chimney to heat up the cold air inside. The cold air coming down will be heavy and prevent the smoke from rising, causing it to fill up 😊
I remember watching them live and being locked in as soon as I saw THE FIRE COMING OUT OF THE FIREPLACE. The chimney was just blocked I think. City kids, smh.

If you've never owned a house with a fireplace, or had a fireplace growing up, you may not know that's a thing. My dad made sure to walk me through the whole process when I was young, but I could see that being a knowledge gap if you've never had to use one yourself.

Yeah, I was thinking so. Considering that there was a bit of smoke but significantly less than after Marisha worked the flue, my guess is that it was initially open, but due to being in California in... I think Summer/early fall? it had a hard time venting plus the initial burning of stuff in the barely used chimney itself, and Marisha _closed_ the flue when trying to help :')
Thank God they have Travis to help the extra nerdy amongst them navigate situations like camping or making a fire that doesn't threaten their lives. I have a fair suspicion they neither knew what a flue is, nor checked to see if said flue was open.
I know that they probably mussed up their hair and smeared the ash on their faces for the comedic effect, but it's still fun to imagine them fighting their chimney and losing

i'm legitimately surprised they're allowed there, i live in a place with fireplaces but it's a northeastern american place where fireplaces make legitimate sense. i would've assumed an LA home would only have a fake aesthetic fireplace bc why on earth would they build such a hazard in a flammable city that doesn't get that cold... then again we are not known for our brilliance
