Keep trying! Fly or hop directly away from the krill as fast as you can and you will often outrun or dodge. The trickier close up dodges I do involve precise timing, but anyone can learn the basics. :)

First you've got to master luring the krill over to the other side of the doors! Fly over the krill or hop into the light, then keep flying and the moment the krill screams, hide behind cover. The light will turn blue and the krill will slowly look for you. Do that a couple times, and you can lure it outside, where you can hop in its light again and slide down the hill. Good luck!!!
I’m going to make a how to video! If you hide behind something just after the krill screams and before it hits you, the krill will slow down and start hunting for you. I did that twice to lure the krill outside.
Yes! You randomly lose winged light you have collected and they go back into the world. You can see where your missing winged light are at map shrines. Every time you buy a red candle from a spirit or traveling spirit, you will get another winged light from that spirit whenever you complete eden. The more winged lights you get from spirits, the higher the total winged light you can get in the game is. You will lose winged lights you collect in the world first before you start losing the eden ones. Once you lose the eden ones you need to re run eden to get those back. I’ve been playing for a few years so I get 107 winged light from eden and so reaching 200 winged light is straightforward for me now. You’ll want to make it a habit to buy the red candle from every traveling spirit that comes so you can keep adding up! :)

Literally just earlier today I helped a moth after they were hit by the krill in that second area of the wasteland. Then, by some miracle, I managed to distract AND dodge it after it came back so they didn't get hit again while finishing the spirit in there. They immediately asked to be my friend 😅 After that I led them through the rest of it helping them get winged lights until they disappeared just before we got to the temple. When I went back to rejoin them, they weren't online anymore 🥲
