As soon as you said be the punisher I subscribed and liked, you are speaking my language. As a new Middle I am loving this job, the joy of crushing people's spirits with powerful spikes is amazing. Even as a "short" 5'11 middle, beating taller players makes me feel like a superhero.
Thank you. My coach is telling me to hit as hard as I can because I have the technique and IQ and everything, but I'm losing lots of power. So, now we are working on me just focusing on hitting it really hard with a big, open hand (even if i hit it out).
the other vball coaches is hard to understand when it comes to middle but coach artie is immaculate even that little info for angles and running! I'm in aweeeeeee
love this. i started playing recreationally 4 years ago, but have been joining some more competitive leagues. ive gotten into a bad habit of trying to hit the ball as hard as i can because it seems more impressive and feels good. but ive realized that just makes me a one trick pony and susceptible to blocks. me and my setter already plan on practicing different sets and hitting angles. so excited.
I have been playing beach volleyball - but I am now ‘transitioning’ to playing regular volleyball. I have been advised to play middle hitter/blocker - and holy horse - it’s a whole other game and there is a lot to learn. I really like your video and ‘mindset’ approach for the middle blocker. Very helpful - thank you! 😊
I just started playing vb as a middle for my junior varsity high school team and I'm awful so I'm just watching these middle tutorial videos tryna get better😭
Thank you so much for your advice as a middle .I am a grade 5 middle who plays for a school outside of Toronto and I just wanted to find a way to be a villain on the court and I will comment back to see how this works thank you so much
Hi Coach, thanks for the informational vid! I had two points I had a slightly different view on, which I wanted to share for a bit :) 1. Concerning the length advantage on MB: As a male 190 cm (6'3 for my imperial friends) middle blocker, when the pass/serve-receive is perfect, you mentioned that a middle still has the option to jump up a bit with the other middle and then still join the outside block. Personally, I've found that not fully committing to blocking the opposing MB is almost the same as presenting no block. So a small hop, wouldnt pose that much of a challenge. However, I must agree that I have more leeway than shorter plays to hope and jump again towards outside, but I just don't feel like semi-blocking on middle and closing the block on outside is something that can be done consistently. 2. In the Netherlands, the name middle blocker is also often used, which for me suggests that you are more of a defensive specialist, putting pressure on the opposing hitters. However, if you start running only quick balls on the middle (which starts at a relatively low level here I'd say), you tend to receive the least balls on offense out of the middles, outsides and opposites. Although the scoring percentage should be the highest, I would not consider it an offensive specialist. Guess it depends though on if you see blocking as a defensive or offensive act. Either way, thanks for the vid! Love how clear you are able to explain these concepts so they are nice and easy to understand for various levels!
Hey coach I'm a middle and I have watched this vid at least ten times I want to get better and improve I'm 6,4 at 14 and I really wanna improve and thanks to this video my eyes have opened thank you❤
I was mainly a leftside but my coach needed me to play middle and right side for defense if u could do a tutorial on how to ay right side that would be great
My coach has me as a middle and I always feel useless because I’m supposed to let the people behind me pass but at the same time I need to transition ( and not get in the way ). It’s really frustrating and confusing and I don’t know how to handle it :/
This is great, there's a lot of videos on the literal movements of playing positions, but not many resources on _what_ a position's role is (beyond the obvious)
Im quite new at volleyball, but i am a middle blocker and this video really helped, but can you do one were there are multiple people like almost a whole team? Were the focus is still the middle blocker but in game. I hope u understand...
ARTIIEEE, I wanna be a setter but due to middle drought and me being one of the taller in my club ( 6feet )plus good at blocking i am going to be set as a middle during nationals qualifiers. Now, the problem is... I can't seem to spike quick balls any good. There is three main issues that i have noticed. 1. I dont jump even 50% as high as i do anywhere else 2. the ball gets set too tight so i can't reach it AND/ OR 3. I can't seem to get my hand on top of the ball. Does everything come with just repetitions or do you have any tip on how to fix atleast something??? thx in advance
I don’t know how it is on other teams and in other countries, but on my team middle player get barely any sets for attacking. Most of the teams in Germany play outside/diagonal only. And I don’t get it to take out one full attacker.
Hey Coach! I've got a question that might be a bit difficult. I live in Michigan where men's volleyball is on a huge upwards trend and finally got to play for a team starting last year (My sophomore year). I play middle (hence why I clicked on this video) and I've been real upset recently with the lack of good passes. Just like anyone else I love to hit, but as a middle I really need that pass to get a good 1 set or c quick going. I recently got promoted to captain and I wish to talk to my backrow about this, but I just don't know what to say, most of my team is unmotivated. It's gotten to the point where I have overtaken the libero for taking backrow because he can't even get a good pass on free balls. I don't wanna be rude to my teammates, but as captain it's my responsibility to inspire and motivate my teammates to get better at these things, I think my frustration is also clouding my judgement a bit. Do you know what i should do?
What ca I do if I don’t have a good setter in my team and never know wehre the set ist coming? Sometimes its like a 1m up mediocre ball and sometimes like 2 m up and 1m to the side
any other middles, i recently went from the middle school net to the highschool net. I have to vert i just dont have to right timing. does anyone know an easy way to adjust or practice
Hey coach ! Can you please make a video on overhead digging I recently injured my thumb trying to dig a overhead spike 😢 Should I use my fingers or just bump the balls with palm
The comment about coaches wanting tall middles hits hard as a 5'10" middle on a co-ed team. I'm only one of two guys so I don't really have a choice lol.
finally a video for us tall middle blockers with knee problems but the kill block is worth all that pain
How tall are you? And how tall is tall?
@@nicolaiaasenjordanger1703 Tall is defined by other people and your space like being 5,7 in middle school is tall but in high school your short.
Make sure you’re landing softly haha! We need you tall people stay healthy so you can play more

Ok, idk if I’m tripping, but it looks like coach Artie is getting skinnier and skinnier. If he is, props.

I will come back here once I become a great middle blocker, coach!
thanks for this video, it really helped me realize things I've been doing wrong and how to effectively change the way I play middle.

being forced to be a middle because i am tall sucked but now i am in love with my position
Starting to be a middle as a short 15u player i have a bit of experience like 2 years or so thatnka for the tips

Coach Artie will all due respect give us more middle blocker videos!!! :D
😂 your request has been noted. Ill try put some stuff together

Hi Coach Artie, Do we use a 4 step approach for the middle attack too ? God bless ~
Helped me for my next game
Thank you for the help. Much love❤
can you do a "how to block" video?
Yo thank you I have been really wondering what I need to work on as a middle with my club season starting soon and now I have a clear picture

What tempo should u learn at first before trying to learn different angles?
My team is lately been practicing to recover blocks (we don’t play with libero yet) should I still always be running?

Great Video! But how can I get better at hitting angles? How can I train that?
Hit with your thumb up or down
train with the wall and try différent angles with your wrist.
First on an artie video less goo 🔥🔥🔥
😊
Thanks coach!
No worries!
Can you please make a more beginner friendly middle tutorial, I’m a beginner in the sport, but I love hitting, and I have decent height.

I'm a middle, short middle, i often Jump more during the block then during the Attack so i often can't Attack well, how can i improve it
Hey coach ! Can you please make a video on overhead digging
I recently injured my thumb trying to dig a overhead spike 😢
Should I use my fingers or just bump the balls with palm
Good idea. When overhead digging think of it more like blocking rather than setting. Less fingers and more creating a wall with your hands
Amazing video
Thanks! 🙏
Thank you broo
Quiero ser un punisher, profe.
Can u do one for outside hitter please❤❤😊
I got one on how to be a better spider, but doing one dedicated to pass hitting is a great idea
nice video

Yeah rough. I think coaches choose tall people for mid without thinking about what that actually. Means. I might make a video about it
Thanks
