- Dance season is officially here! We are heading to the first dance comp of the season where Lilia and Kaden will be competing at Hollywood Connection in Santa Clara, California and little 5 year old Addie is tagging along to do try out her first dance convention in a broadway babies class with some famous dancers/choreographers. We have a busy weekend ahead!

My name is Jess! I had a daughter (Lilia) at age 18 w/ my high school sweetheart. We mutually split up & co-parent to this day. I met someone new, got married, had twin boys (Kyson & Kaden) and another son (Landen). He cheated, we split ways, & he’s not around much. As a dancer: Personally I reflect all of the love and support I am given from family, teachers, and best friends when I am dancing so it helps a lot

It's great that addie is doing so good. I can't believe how rude the teacher was for saying a 5 year old is better then the older kids what a way to make the other kids feel bad

As a former dancer, I assure you that it’s not a big deal. Convention teachers tend to be funny and relaxed.
It doesn't sound like the teacher was serious - it sounds like she was just trying to be encouraging to the little one to help her feel included.
@erica. Why shouldn't 1 person be praised? Sometimes life isn't fair and if they want the praise they need to step up... No pun intended...

They are all so good at dancing!! It's amazing seeing them all grow and watching their styles develop!!💛💛💛
When I was on the dance team I’m high school we had big sisters/little sisters, the 2nd year and up members would pick a first year member and they would be big/lil sisters (kinda like Lilia’s team) we would get each other gifts for like first day of practice/school/first game/etc. and the booster club would make us/get us gifts for competition ❤️ I loved it!
Also: Addie did really good in that first class! ❤️ she’ll be on that level in no time!

Speaking of the library, as a volunteer there I suggested that we go through the biography books in the kids fiction section. We went through sone of the books there and some were from 1997. But my coordinator said new books might come in soon in that section.
I loved watching Addie learning a dance with the older kids and performing it better than some of the dancers twice her age! 💗

I think it helps that her husband is also home full time and all her kids aren’t home full time as most of them go to their biological dads house too.

Libraries usually work together with “inter library loans” so other libraries will lend your library a book if you need it! Just in case you need this for the future :)

Question, are the children choosing from a list that the school teacher provided? Or was it anyone in the world with was inspirational....? Because when our school did it they chose from a list and the school library had the books and mind you I live in a rural county but a larger school system that is all rural. We have 3 cities in our system and the next large city is an hour away. A number of smaller ones in between. Did you ask the public library if they can get books from other branches or did they actually have nothing in their whole system? Sorry I was a media specialist/IT coordinator /teacher for 6 years during my early teaching career before switching to a classroom teacher.

I remember that it wasn't that long ago when Addie would have a meltdown and then just refusing to participate when it came to partaking in classes (including school) without Jess! Separation anxiety is the best, isn't it? (Sarcasm.) Okay, it may be a few years ago now, but it feels like yesterday and I am so proud of how she's grown, matured and become so confident in herself and her abilities!
