- Finally things have quietened down in the workplace, so it's time to head out into the woodlands looking forward to overnighting in my French army f1 canvas tent.
It's late winter now and there's plenty of signs of spring around as we trek into the dark woods. A much needed wild camp, seeking sanctuary in such a chaotic & sickened world.

Great to know you enjoyed watching especially from you, someone that had a massive positive influence on my life (around eight years ago) your wild camping videos helped me through some deeply hard times. I used to wild camp back then but never gave filming my outings a second thought, probably because they were dark times for me personally. Yeah anyway, so thank you for giving me some peace of mind back in those days.
I watched your latest video, normally I have hardly any time to watch other peoples channels, but being the situation we're all in i can have a bit of a catch up on my favourite channels. So sorry about Elsa mate, such a beautiful dog in many ways and you could plainly see the bond between you both. Of course you two and others shall be reunited when the time is right, well thats what I believe anyway. Love holds everything together and unlike the flesh is undying my friend.

Since filming I've noticed that Polymath products have restocked the Phantom ultra light stove and windshield set. I have no connection with Polymath products other than the stove that I purchased a good while back out of my own pocket. I notice there's always one or two thumbs down, I can't imagine why you would do that, even if you don't enjoy it why thumbs down unless it's something you really disagree with, odd?
every channel picks up some wierd loser along the way, I found that once a video goes upwards of 1k views not only do you get lots more thumbs down but also bungholes in the comments section crying about useless stuff no one cares about besides that one individual.
Funny business putting posts up and people commenting I like it but It needs to be with people who want to discuss things, not just put you down or nonsense. I've got into comments with a number of cool people I really like on here Mike being one of them, With camping and bushcraft, were all into much the same stuff, so I think it's pretty easy to get on well.But I guess you always get the dicks I suppose it's like twats that leave a mess behind them compared to folks who leave it as they found it. Hi mate, yes I don't blame you as the old school way has stood the test of time for good reason. The French F1 is a way better tent than the overrated lavvu, well in my opinion anyway.

Hi Maria, well the best way to see it is that this is as close to freedom as many of us shall ever get. Of course it's an awful time for those that are infected or have loved one's that are. If you can manage to get by financially and try to adjust to these crazy times you'll be fine. This shall not last forever, try to take positives from all the negativity. My partner does shop work so she's very much like your husband, and I'm sure they'll be fine.

Heheh! Definitely not my thing camping in the back garden, I'd rather walk through a woodlands than set up in my backyard any day! But each to their own...You're probably like me and need to be amongst nature, and even though it's cool, you ain't going to get any surrounded by fence panels footballs and nosey neighbour's lol. I'm lucky to have woodlands within walking distance so my next vid shall be a chat n walk in the woods mate.

Hi Jason, exactly my friend....respect costs nothing and shouldn't even need to be thought about...Trouble is so many families are not teaching the basic essential building blocks on bringing up a decent human being, and so it carries on through from generation to generation. Yes I agree, they dont need to keep it if they turn out to be low life. I agree with all you say Jason, if only all thought the way we do the world would be a far better place.

A stunning woodlands, loved your tree table. Which do you prefer, lavvu or F1 tent? Nice to see you back out again.
Hi there, hey thank you it's an old idea...Can get an aluminium version that ratchet straps to the tree.
I'm not a big fan of the lavvu, so yes I'd pick the F1...Out of all the canvas tents I have the Dutch army tent (latest version) is my favourite by a long way.

Another fantastic camp Mike, just getting around to this one and well timed viewing to get away from all the uncertainty at the moment and just relax. The sounds of the pheasant and other birds are pure therapy.

I remember reading a book during my schooldays (back in the early 70's this would have been). The book must have been printed during the 50's or maybe eaven earlier. It stated in that book that to properly seal a canvas tent, get a dozen candles and a gallon of petrol. Warm the petrol in a large pot and dissolve the candles in the petrol, mixing all the while. When dissolved, paint the whole of the tent with the mixture whilst it was still warm using a four inch brush, paying special Attention to the seams - it said to do this on a warm summer's day for best results. Wait around four hours then repeat the process. I never even considered at the time how dangerous this could be! I doubt that such a book would be available today. It also described how to make a glider and encouraged boys to jump off high buildings to test it - I kid you not! On a lighter note, what a view you had from that tent, that alone would be worth the trip for me. My old tent was pretty similar to yours there, only I had a ridge pole for the top and a fly sheet. It would sleep at least 4 people, had the built in ground sheet but no side ventilation. It did however, have fly netting at the top of the door flaps and the rear top panels. The back of mine used to bow out, I don't want to say "bell end" but I'm sure you know what I mean. It wasn't military or anything so grand, just something to set up prior to night fishing on the local canal (The Feeder Canal, Bristol). I took it to Brean Down one year and pitched it behind the sand dunes - it blew a gale but it stood it very well indeed - ah those were the days!
