i wish there was more Moon Hooch stuff available with Alena singing. She's really good (obviously the band is amazing as well) - I can't get enough of this song!
im 40 now... I just suddenly remembered this song today... Heard it first time when i was 30 years old, blasted it every time when i was partying, oh the memories. Sounds just as good today, oh man, here we go again ;)
@@Woodsballer209 this shit will stay relevant for years... its just good stuff. No world where this becomes outdated. Only shit thing is Moon Hooch association with Moses Hacmon and the drummers departure, but this is certified bop.
MOON HOCH - Contra, featuring a couple doing their thing, a man that has no place in his heart for anything but the contrabass, and an acid drummer that has attained the ultimate state of meth zen. A grand modern masterpiece.

Yes I agree with Angelus Nielson in his gratitude for the lyrics provided by Andrew Gunter! Hey, do you guys happen to know why Mike Wilbur says "Java" at the end of the video? Is it because he wants some coffee now?
I absolutly love this. The vocals are brilliant and these guys play like their three brains are wired together. The camera work and editing gives you a taste of how moving their live performances are. Keep bringing it Moon Hooch !
Took my 9 year old son to see TMBG and Moon Hooch opened for them. The family walked away Moon Hooch heads. We immediately went home and bought the album and he played Contra and #9 for his friends at school. Great to hear an opening band with a sound I've never heard before and I really enjoyed. The vocals on this song were a fantastic add.
Did something very similar (w/out my kid) at the Indianapolis show, but bought the CD before leaving the show. They guys were happy to sign it for me and I've been listening ever since...huge Hooch-head now! ...totally original sound with TONS of positive energy! I LOVE IT!
Hey Jake and Emily.... this is one of my favorites from Youse...I was blessed to hear youse..minus 😢 Emily this summer.in Strongsville... GOD bless you and your Twins....I love you guys!! Timothy... In Parma
Tubes!!! You guys are the Rush of Tubes!! Rush GREATEST rock band ever. You guys fn rock!! I'm 50yrs old cant stop listening!! Wont you plz make more tunes with this chick..she is to good ....and HOTT!!!
This is my first time hearing Moon Hooch, and it's FANTASTIC. Everything works together so well, and that is not something I thought I'd ever say about an arrangement that includes two saxophones. Eleven more tracks, and you've got a record I'd buy.
First time I've ever heard this band. The vocalist perfected this song for me. So I'm laughing at all the haters. I was loving this and normally don't care for this kind of sound. Pure talent.
I still come to listen to this almost every week . Even if you might not be "proud" of it anymore (I'm guessing that's why you moved it to unlisted) , know that there are still people who appreciate your lesser work ^^
Hey dudes, saw you at House of Blues last night. Ya'll were incredible... I look forward to the day that ya'll are the one filling the venue. I'll definitely come back when the time comes.
I agree, they rock, except it's too bad they don't have a permanent female vocalist. Also, do you know why he says "Java" at the end? I'm guessing it's because he wants some coffee now?
Ehhh, I actually agree with him. I LOVE Moon hooch but compared to more classic jazz there is a lot less going on. That being said I think moon hooch has perfected the "make you want to dance" style of music and I love it.
We had a "record panel" at our preschool, where we had chosen a few songs for kids to vote. This song won the hearts of our mostly female kid judges. Kids are awesome and so are you!
Unique vibe for sure. Anyone who is diverse in music should completely love this sound. It is enriching and moving, albeit rather loud at times i find it important for the vibe. Well done.
i had smoked pot to this song for 2 years in the parking lot which is nicknamed "the Satellite", while i was hopelessly trying to get my college degree. That parking lot is a deserted place, place that you take your girl or boy to make out. I was sitting on the pavement, without a car, with my headphones on, this song playing, pulling as hard as i could fromthe joint, burning feeling going down my throat so that i could get out of the pile of misery i had been in. Now its been 2 years since i got that fuckin degree, im not happier though, at least now i got a job and some folks respect me for what i do. If thats something. Screw you society, i wanna destroy every moral piece of you.
I totally agree with you Trolololotron, one hundred percent. Hey, do you happen to know why Mike Wilbur says "Java" at the end of the video? Is it because he wants some coffee now?
Why was youtube hiding this gem from me for so long this is an absolute blast!
Moon hooch is Dope.
No way! My two favourite bands
This is a relic
If that's the case we must stop the war on drugs.
We need another song with her! PLEASE!!
Moon Hooch, Alena is made for your band, you together are something incredible. Please make more tunes together.
@Emilio José A.m 😔😔😢
@Emilio José A.m Yeah there was one. You can find it if you use one of those websites that searches the internet.
@@mychannel594 I think "Mega Tubes" has her
I was wondering who is that singer? You are right.fits with their music style. Gives the sax some pizazz
@Todo lo bueno X_O It's a long day at work?

Back after 8 years.
Still on my top 5 favorite RUclips videos I’ve ever seen.
Man she fits the song so well.
Welcome back! It's 17 NOV 2021 and I just watched this video again, after many years. I should watch some Tiny Hazard videos now...

The fact that they make dubstep sounding breakdowns, live, with a goddamn sax with a paper tube in it, is enough to blow my mind

+Andrew Gunter (The Gunters) Thank you for taking the effort to transcribe the lyrics for us. I regret all I have to give is a thumbs up and a thanks.

I think he says "good job."
Nice.
So the lyrics are about LSD?

Her vocals rounds this band out so well IMO

When mike and alena are looking at each other you can see mike smiling while playing and it makes me happy
Were they dating at that time?
@@sladeburbach972 I’m not sure exactly
This song I ve discovered 10 years laters is just WHAAOU. Moon hooch incredible musicians and performers.
That toooone on the contra! The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a massive redwood tree.

The part where they're almost duet-ing between vocals and sax is so cute.
Yea. Def my fave part. Haha.
2:45 to 3:00 is absolute magic!
3:16 This fingerwork is outstanding. Good job Mike Wilbur.
This confirms it...I'm now full on in love with that singer. Thanks a lot Moon Hooch...
I love this song. I play tenor sax and have learned the tenor part; looking to try the contrabass clarinet's part on bass sax when I get one
Interesting sound....love the saxes.
I can picture this being played in some movie one day.
Great mix, I thoroughly enjoyed this tune, she definitely adds another dimension.
damn its still sounds great!

I've played rhythm tenor all my life, bari too, but my hat is off to all of you.. Loved that circular breathing 4:14.
I absolutly love Moon Hooch and I'm a big fan of instrumental music but this girl vocalist fit perfectly. Great song!
who in the world would hate on this vocalist? shes helping them expand their music in such a beautiful way

Wow, this girl Moon has a really great voice!
Just saw these guys in Birmingham. They had nowhere to stay so they stayed at my house. They're amazing musicians and just amazing people in general.
Vocals definitely made it for me.
It's a certified BOP!
Oh dam, it's 11 years old, almost 12! Old wreckroom too. Maaaan, nostalgia
Alena Spanger - thanks.. :)) beautiful voice..
It's so weird having moon hooch with vocals, but it's good. And I mean it's moon hooch, if it wasn't weird it wouldn't be moon hooch
been following yall since the subway days glad yall movin up
love the look they give each other at 1:40
Was backstage with these blokes in New Orleans and gotta say what a lively fun bunch they are!
cool voice
nice sound
Give the girl some credit, you don't even mention her in the text.
Alena Spangler from the band Tiny Hazard.
Met these guys at stubbs in austin while working on the sound that night, really cool guys.
I almost forgot what I was watching and starting moshing at that breakdown...
Love it. Wicked tune
Love the parts where she doesn't double the sax line melodically. Love you guys!!
Amazing tune 1👍👍👍👍👍
Need more of this
Moon Hooch is good how they usually are with just the three instrumentalists. However, the vocalist really takes them to the next level.
Ehhh, I actually agree with him. I LOVE Moon hooch but compared to more classic jazz there is a lot less going on. That being said I think moon hooch has perfected the "make you want to dance" style of music and I love it.
wow blew me away they are great, fresh. she is awesome. THEY MAY NOT NEED HER BUT SHE MAKES THEM BETTER! Time to get more is there more with her?
The recording sounds great!
This is great, she's a great singer and the band is solid.
Found this! Soo looking forward to seeing you guys at High Sierra Music Festival 2014!

Saw them open for TMBG on Saturday, they were flawless!!
I love the beat ! :)
Weird heavy metal lyrics with goth rhythm style. Horn duo, math rock drums with indy tone. I want this song as an album.
Awesome guys!
Very unique, I like it. Always thought of how bass sax would sound in pop music. Thanks for sharing
it's a tenor saxophone and a contrabrass clarinet
ooh sweet!
James actually doesnt look high in this, good for you!
ZForce72 now a punk or rock drummer
I smashed the like button to pieces 18 seconds into this song.
Jimmy, i was at that show!! TMBG ROCKED AND SO DID THESE GUYS
Yea dude both of the bands were incredible, I loved how much TMBG incorporated the audience into the show
Great!!!
