I have a couple of Diageo special releases from previous years, but I'll generally only buy them at a steep discount to the retail price. And you will be able to eventually, because they just sit around for years at these prices. I picked up that Mortlach for £170 after fees at auction. The 2023 releases are just as bad, if not worse, price wise, nothing under £120, £165 for a 10YO cask-strength Clynelish in ex-bourbon!? You can get Clynelish 14YO for under £40 sometimes and certainly for under £50. If they just released Clynelish 14 at cask strength without the colour and chill filtration I'd buy that all day for £100.
Sales for the 2022 releases have not been great in Canada and most are still on the shelf. And--plot twist--the 2023 releases have NOT gone up in price here. Has Diageo learned a lesson???? Nahhh, it can't be... Now I may look for a bottle of the 2022 Talisker, since you seemed to like it. The price here was about $CDN 190 (£113) but maybe a sale can be found. Thanks for another great podcast, gents!
They just cleared them out in Australia at $99 AUD a bottle for Clynelish 12, Laga 12, Talisker 11, Cardhu 16 etc and the 2021 releases too. At that price its hard to say no
Getting ridiculous at the price points for most SE Diageo releases. Laga 12 was a great standard unadulterated whisky BUT £175!! FFS!!! And its Don Julio Añejo Tequila finished btw

Auction definitely the way forwards 👍
Agreed. It’s an interesting lineup but not sure it’s doing what it needs to for the brands

That’s the new 2023 one, and yes, the prices are higher again 😅
Interesting finish but price is crazy
