- 2018 BMW G310R Review - If you are in the market for an entry level or first motorcycle you owe it to yourself to test ride this one. Most basic bikes have at least one big compromise leaving something that needs upgrades or fixing out of the box. The G310R may cost more but it gets it all right from the start.

I think this bike should have been a 400-500cc twin cylinder and it'd be perfect
Why? There is a huge market for 300cc bikes. Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Ktm....etc. BMW had nothing. This is them tapping that market. You say 400 or 500...but then at that point why not 600...and bikes they already have. This is them jumping on the 300 craze. Besides...bigger would also mean a much bigger price tag. Smart move for BMW.
RePeteOffense But they don’t have 400-600 cc... only F800R and even that’s been discontinued this year for the F900R. I own the 310R and I would love having a 500-600cc option as my next BMW Bike. The 800-900 still kinda intimidates me a bit (I’m a beginner). I think the 400-600 cc should be the next step after the G310 series...
Too bad there is a stop delivery and recall going on at the moment due to the kickstand issue. Was about to pick one up.
Love riding my S1000R but I seem to also have an interest in smaller bikes like this as well, for some strange reason. Great review and enjoy your channel.
Bryan, how would you compare the BMW G310R to the KTM 390 Duke that you tested? Pro's / Con's I'm considering both for a city commuter. Thanks.
Very cool review. Thanks for posting. I actually rode one last year during a private lesson. Great little bike.
You said it is very smooth and besides you were feeling lots of buzz in the tank!
Finally, smooth or not???
Great review, well done.
New rider here, 0 riding skill. What do you mean "1st gear is short" like you need to shift to second almost immediately after take off?
Yes
It was nice chatting with you at the event. It's fun for me to see the ride from the camera's perspective even though I was just a couple bikes behind you during the ride. Keep up the good work.
Can you test ride the BMW 310gs? I like your reviews.
You recomend this bike as a first for a new rider?
Do you recommend this for a new rider as commuter?
That's a great looking bike, glad you found it to be well made. That's what you would expect of course, but you never know.
The KTM Duke 390 is built by Bajaj in India btw. European manufacturers don't have much of a choice if they want to build cheap bikes for the Asian market than to produce them there as well.
Accd. to news reports BMW has built a brand new factory together with TVS in Bangalore. The tooling and machinery is shipped from BMW, they're also training the workforce, and the engine assembly line is encased in glass to keep it dust free. I'm pretty sure BMW has no interest in sacrificing their premium status as a brand. Also, BMWs made in Germany are not the most reliable bikes anymore either...
This is the best review of the BMW G310R I could find anywhere online, and I've watched quite a few of them. Thank you for the depth and attention to detail! I can't wait to make this one my first bike next year.
Having that bright green ride nanny would just suck the fun out of trying a new bike.
is that a person from the dealer? you test drive under supervision?
@Twowheelobsession The included Michelin Pilot Street tires are good. Too bad it only has a single-cylinder engine which means less power and girly exhaust sound. What about the maintenance cost? Might be pricey since it has a BMW badge fitted on it.
BMW 310R, NINJA 400, OR R3? Which would you pick if you were a beginner?
I'll be buying my first bike within the next couple of years, and will probably buy the G310GS, as it has a taller seat and a little more suspension travel. Plus, I like the funky looks. I'm also about 6'2" and weigh about 240 lb.
Nice meeting you today man!
The S1000RR I rode was amazing as well.
You too man!
TwoWheelObsession let me know if you ever wanna ride. I need more rides to go on where people don’t act stupid.
Joint the Tampa motorcycle group on Facebook it’s who I ride with.
love ya work man
Thank for the review of this bike. It has caught my eye.

Love the reviews
Be a nice short ride around the town bike.
