Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, your days of Scandinavian glory is over. You may bitch about the chinese, but without them buying all your fancy watches, purses, jewelries and perfume, you would all be in poverty right now. Capitalism bitches, kiss your personal space goodbye. Now you join the world crowd. :)
This is why they made that park in China tbh. It cuts the traffic of Chinese coming to the American parks. I have a lot more to say but I’ll save myself lol.
+SP Yip omg ikr i really cant overlook it every time i go to disneyland its PACKED with Chinese n I'm not racist i just can't stand it when they act smart and just come in front of u in the line. It's crazy!
I can't believe they allow umbrellas. Just visited Tokyo DisneySea and the staff is actively telling people to put away their umbrella or selfie sticks they snuck in. Even hats and decorations on the head were taken off to not block the people behind them.
To think that the Japanese descended from the Chinese, I sometimes wonder towards mainlanders: at what point did they go wrong in the manners and ettiquete department?
I'm a Hong Konger and I do acknowledge myself as a Chinese as I'm a part of the race. However, the mainlanders(Yes, we call the Chinese in China as mainlanders in Hong Kong) are just not civilised AT ALL. It puts shame to the whole race. They simply don't know how to behave. Even in Hong Kong, "a part of China", the mainlanders always jump the queue. They squat on the street and sometimes even take a shit publicly. They don't give a shit about all those behavior. We Hong Kongers are so glad and RELIEVED that Shanghai Disneyland is finally opened. We no longer need to keep up with those shit they bring upon to the Hong Kong Disneyland and us.
God, I went to Beijing Zoo and some kid was peeing into the panda enclosure. Dodgiest thing I've ever seen. It really reflects badly on their people even if they only represent 1%. I've never heard of any westerners (Australian, at least) piss in the middle of the park or in the zoo unless they were piss drunk or high.
a lot of chinese people were born into very unprivileged backgrounds, many of the rich mainlanders you see coming into north america now only very recently became rich I grew up in canada and had to spend a year of my life in china, it was truly a culture shock: the conditions these people have to live in are very sad, even larger rich cities do not provide people with the most basic health and sanitary environments a lot of these problems stem back from decades of corruption from the communist party, china use to be a land full of respect and love, that's how the japanese and korean got a lot of their customs and values, its so sad that modern china has forgotten all of these beautiful philosophies
Where in China did you live? I have lived here for two years, and I have done a lot of travelling, even to small towns. I don't know how you describe basic health and sanitary environments, but even in small towns they still had basic health requirements... in large cities the living standard is basically the same as the developed western world, if not more developed in some parts
1.4 billion people and their tax money is not even enough for proper education. Hmm... Something smells fishy here. If a child misbehaved, is it his fault or his parents' fault? Ooops, better stop here before the PLA onto my ass.
燕慕若 Funny. I've worked in Shanghai for over two years. No more. I've experienced the poor behavior of your people, first hand, personally. I've seen your government did nothing to improve it but their own deep pockets. Be prideful all you want, but if the entire world hates your kind, you know it's your problem, not the world's problem.
+ga gogo that's strange, because I went to 3 cities including Shanghai and had a great time. Same goes for every other person I know who has visited China.
This makes me sad to see it being like this already. But when you consider how quickly things have changed for people in Mainland China, you do realise why so many seem like this. Hopefully in time things will improve.
When you see behaviour like this, you can either make excuses for them or try to educate them. Which option will make things improve? And which option did you choose instead?
I think Chinese Disneyland did a good job. As most of the Chinese go to this Shanghai Disneyland, the rest of the other Disneyland can maintain their state without the destroy by Chinese.
+Wallfacer Manuel Redias i expect you to be a main land chinese, im a mainland chinese too but see you here trying to defend our home country just make my feel more embarrassed, u cant even use proper english
I was at Tokyo and I've never seen people line up so politely. The place was so clean too. This looks like a crap hole, the behaviour here looks worse than in Disneyland Paris.
Japan of course is the best.. although I have never been there before.. Shanghai Disneyland is my next bucket list.. but after seeing this.. I think is the best to wait 2-3years ? Or going on work or school days..
+NuncFluens mainland is china itself the country they say mainland because chinese from different parts of the world act different from them and hong kong isnt mainland even hong kong chinese hate mainland chinese people
I am born and live in Hong Kong, and I found that you know the turth exactly right! Since 1997 transfer of sovereignty, I just saw how people corrupt our homeland in Hong Kong, especially after the scheme about mainland Chinese individual visit to Hong Kong. We collect back a little bit our ancient culture our ancient traditional about REAL CHINESE. Sense of propriety, justice, integrity and honour. The funniest about this is, we got these back under British governing and protect Hong Kong people from mainland China at the doom of 1949-1997. But now Hong Kong we had the transfer back to China 19 years. I see only the end of our Hong Kong. I want to defend our culture and our life but we failed, only thing I can do is watching Hong Kong fall just like a cities in Mainland China. May the last flame of true Chinese culture keep in Taiwan forever and ever, but they also facing huge challenge too.
Jerry, I feel your pain. My wife is from Hong Kong and we spend quite a bit of time there. The decline from 1997 to now is shocking. I don't know how much longer HK will hold up. Most of our HK native friends have already emigrated out to the U.S., U.K., and Canada.
I didn't think we can hold up more another 10 years. To be told, this 4 years CY Leung to be the chief executive in Hong Kong and made everything corrupt super fast than other reason! What we saw, we found just like mainland China government style ruining Hong Kong, every single part of us. Bloody happen here: - 5 bookseller kidnap to mainland China by China police in Hong Kong - Royalists cheating elders in council voting - Significant international air security cause by chief executive family - Chief executive CY Leung bribe happen by UGL company Damm, we can told the story more and more, but all about that was how had Hong Kong right now.
Those CHINESE are ppl who live in/ from mainland China. NOT including Hongkongese and Taiwanese. Since Disney Shanghai opend, the atmosphere here Disney Hong Kong is better than before.
+HR I have to differ with you HR. I spent a lot of time in both HK and Taiwan and I found the calibre of the people there much much higher than in the mainland. Solly
Gotta Go Hongkongese are the same as people from mainland when it comes to the terms of manners and behaviors in public spaces. What is different, is that HK are racist and arrogant, taking their pride from the fact that they were British slaves. Fick dich !
Anyone who lives/lived in China knew Disneyland was going to be a gong show. I live in SH, and will never go here. I've learned to avoid heavily-congested areas, and choose to walk (if possible) during rush hour rather than take the subway. China has built some pretty cool cities and infrastructure, but still has a LONG way to go when it comes to civility. Unfortunately, the cultural revolution is to blame. I'm hopeful though. I've seen huge improvements in behavior in SH over the years.
Well, SH isn't as bad as most of China thanks to the ocean air currents, but in relation to the West, it's pretty bad air. I limit my exposure outside if it gets really bad in the winter, and wear a mask. In the summer, air quality improves considerably thanks to storms and typhoons coming in off of the Pacific. Overall though, you get used to it, and fully appreciate the clean air when you go home.
I realise it's a really difficult system to beat. You just lose out if you don't push ahead. Less so in Disneyland. More so elsewhere in China thankfully. Sounds like you had your own adventure. =)
Yup, first time buying tickets in a train stations was really an eye-opener! I was considering checking out Shanghai Disneyland when I'm back in China at the end of August but now I'm not so sure
It's really not that bad. You SHOULD go. Plus you've lived in China so you're no stranger to the culture. That was only 3 mins worth of footage. I have 12 other videos (some not released) of some really good magic happening!
ItsMaximoose We should do a cross channel collab sometime. Is there a better place to communicate? I also speak French and Mandarin on top of English though not as well.
thanks so much for making posting video ! the place is definitely off thr bucket list and I'm so sorry for the shit that you have to put up with that time in the themepark
I realize what you were trying to do with this video and I appreciate it. One of the big things with picking a travel destination is the local culture. You want to know how people are likely to behave so you can decide whether it is worth your time and money to visit. I have been trying to decide between a trip to Tokyo Disney and Shanghai Disney. Politeness matters to me. How the guy in line next to me is likely to act will directly impact my enjoyment. It is not racist or bad to note cultural differences and how they will be perceived by people of a different culture. The mother allowing her child to pee in public may have been perfectly appropriate from a Chinese perspective. It is absolutely inappropriate from my point of view. Letting me know it happened helps me decide which destination is better for me and my family. Your video helped me decide that Tokyo Disney is the better vacation for me. Thank you. I appreciate you getting me this information and I'm sorry you were treated so badly by those with nothing better to do than wait around to label someone else a racist just because they don't like what you had to say. Again, thank you.
Thank you for your comment amidst the sea of keyboard warriors. I've learnt a lot through this. People will be people. And it just shows how far the world has to go to live in harmony.
Thanks for your support. It's refreshing to see that amongst the people that don't understand or simply want to be keyboard warriors, there are folks like you =)
So sad the crowd doesn't appreciate how awesome Shanghai Disneyland is and how disrespectful most of the crowd seems. I'd be so upset if I designed the park or a queue and saw that quests were destroying it. A beautiful park such as Shanghai Disneyland doesn't deserve to be treated this way, and i felt the same when I visited Disneyland Paris. (There was a puddle of urine in the line for Space Mountain Mission 2)
I went there around 2 weeks ago ( on Friday ). But, it's not that bad . The queueing time for attraction ( like Tron / Pirates of the caribbean ) was same like other disneyland theme park ( 30 mins - 2 hours ) , toilets are clean and no queuing , the food is so delicious too . And the staffs there are very helpful too ( *I don't speak chinese) . It's totally unexpected ! We also had plenty 'empty' space to take photos . Basically, It was FUN , and still recommended to go
I had a flight from Chicago to Salt Lake City full of about 30 Chinese tourists sitting behind my seat on the airplane and that was the worst Flight Of My Life. They had a fascination with using the bathroom every 10 minutes and they were super Amazed by the sink and continuously filling up the bathroom for the whole flight. They would also kick my seat and stand up and lean their arms on my seat. There was even a guy laying in the aisle stretching his legs and for some reason all of them ignored the seatbelt sign and we're walking around the plane so that the captain had to come on and order them all to sit down.
I think it's funny that you mention Japan while talking about being pushed and shoved because I have to say, when I was in Japan I was in shock when I was pushed and shoved in the subway.I saw an elderly Japanese lady get pushed and stepped on by a group of Japanese men and they did not say sorry. The day I got there some guy pushed me while I was rolling my luggage. I was only there for 10 days.
Was waiting for our delayed flight to Langkawi, and it was almost 2 hours. When the moment we heard our first flight delay announcement people already went walking around or shopping or just sit on the bench so we will not block the corridor. Then this one Mainland Chinese family, thought they were being the first in line and just won't stay away from the waiting room door, the only group that glued to the main entrance, blocking the staffs to moving in and out. Finally our flight is ready to board, the family just won't backup and the staff just slammed the door on them. I have to say, Good Work!!!
I was fully expecting this behavior during our visit and I was so happy it was not the case for us. Of course, we visited in January. It was cold and off-season. The park was a ghost town which was a little eerie, but made for walk-ons on all attractions, and no crowd issues or concerns. We have experienced a little of this in Hong Kong Disney at times, and as you mentioned - Never in Japan as the crowds there are amazing!! I would have to say the worst behavior we have experienced is Paris Disney - the rudest guests and no staff to help you. Thanks for the videos - we go back next January as well, hope the crowds stay low :)
Donald Lewis I’m so glad you had a great time!! :) Paris was annoying for me because of the passive smoking I could not avoid. Otherwise I actually enjoyed it a lot!
I went with my cousin late last year and I had a wonderful time at SH Disney. Honestly, the crowd culture truly isnt much different in Shanghai than in other major cities. Yes mainland China is not as developed and not as exposed to Western culture but it has come a long way as a developing country. Growing up in both the U.S. and in Shanghai in various points of my life have given me a humbled view on developed and developing countries. China has come a long way and still needs to go a long way but we cant deny its progress. Plus going to Disney in China is the cost equivalent of a month or two of the average person's salary so a lot of people are going to try and take advantage of as much as they can of the time allotted at the park (the park closes around 9pm due to train stations closing around 11pm) and there are few hotels in surrounding areas other than the Disney resorts (which are hella expensive).
Its kind of sad, I am a chinese from Malaysia and currently studying in Australia. When I make new friends or introducing myself, the first thing I will say after my name is emphasizing that I am a MALAYSIAN chinese because I really don't want them to think that I am from China, its not like I hate mainland chinese, its just that mainland chinese really has bad impression (rude, speak loudly, and many more..)
I couldn't be more happier that my parents decided moved to Canada before I was born. Whats sad is I see these kind of mainlanders bring this kind of rotten behavior to Canada and it pisses me off. I ALWAYS fell embarrassed as a Chinese person whenever I see this. It makes me a little better my family aren't from the mainland but HK.
+Bill Chan They like to think they are better because of their birth place. But if they live in Canada, they should know that when the other types talk about foreign Chinese, they are talking about all asian looking people as well, no matter if they are born in Canada. Tough to accept but that's how it is.
Been working in Shanghai for 5 years and seen big improvements in behavior. One can only hope they will continue to recover from cultural revolution. During the cultural revolution, youths were encouraged to beat up and humiliate their parents and teachers. Thousands of teachers were killed in Beijing alone. Good manners were discouraged because manners are for "snobbish bourgeoisie" only.
I am actually not surprised with the behaviours shown in this video. Most Mainland Chinese people have been doing these things all over Hong Kong. I am really glad they build a Disney park at Shanghai coz less Mainland Chinese people came to Hong Kong. I still think their behaviours are disgusting, but its okay (or somtimes fun to watch/observe) as long as they are kept on their soils.
Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave! The outrageous behavior demonstrated by the tourists in this beautiful park is disgraceful... have they no shame? What about common decency? I thought we had some classless people here in America, but I suppose behaving in an uncivilized manner is a global phenomenon (& that there are @$$holes everywhere!).
Other than people sitting on the ground and children pissing, it looks like Anaheim but much less crowded. The walkways were actually opened and you could see 50 feet in front of you.
This is my first time to comment on RUclips. First of all, thank u for letting us know about these facts in my country. I am a 90s Chinese and i feel so ashamed after watching it. But we have to face this issue right now, because Chinese people's manners indeed do not improve as our economy expands, which is pretty pathetic. When i was young, my 70s mother exactly told me to do what u have shown in the video, and i felt really ashamed at that time and swear never be like that as i keep showing my manners at present. In fact, those Chinese who were born before 1979 would not show and teach their children what the good manners are at all because of lack of education. However, this would be changed by 80s and 90s parents, which accounts for very limited part of China (10%?) Anyway, we are already very concerned about these ugly behaviors, but it takes time to change. Afterall, we are much more laggard than those developed countries when we just established our country in1949. So, please! Give us more time because no country could be perfect while it's developing. Hope all of u can understand and be considerate and patient. Thx very much.
I had the same experience in Shanghai about 20 years ago. I've been thinking maybe the environment(1.3 billion people) has made them behave like that. One day I was walking in a street in SH, and was appalled by people walking in front of me and behind me were spitting out their phlegm onto the ground by any direction. Recently I was told the situation has improved. Personally I like this video and hopefully people will realise "respecting others and the environment" is another lesson to learn after economic success. Hope everyone views it positively and help transform any bad culture into a respectful culture for which the whole world will admire. I am also a Chinese descendent from Taiwan. No doubt Japanese have been setting many good benchmarks for the whole world to follow.
The funny thing is, this wouldn't happen in USA simply because most Americans will lash out if you get in their personal space. I am 6'5" and 300# and I cannot stand anyone that close to me... do so at your own peril. #justsayin
True that, but I don't go to places like this alone, usually with a female... and usually if the female is with me, she is badass enough to help me in that situation. The other trick is to be totally passive aggressive... stand and don't move when the line in front of you moves and turn around and look at the people crowding you. Tell them "I am gonna move up but I want you to stand back and give me space" kind of look. They will get the message.
Spent 8 months living/studying in China, can confirm. Things like holding doors, waiting in lines, or helping strangers who just dropped their belongings are frequently foreign concepts over there - though obviously not everyone there was like that, far from it. More educated, richer people tended to 'get it', and not step over or ignore others so blatantly. What was so strange was, for the people that did behave poorly, it didn't seem to be willful ignorance from what I saw. It seemed most had just never been taught the difference between wrong and right when sharing a public space, or to think about people other than themselves.
Garrett Widner I guess it's just a totally different culture. Yes, on second thought, it does it seem it may not all be done on purpose. It's some survival instinct that has kicked but for foreigners it can be quite a shock.
I spent two weeks in China on business last year. This video is exactly what I saw and experienced everywhere I went. It's just the Chinese life, society, and culture. If you have an issue with personal space you may not want to visit.
You are judging people based of their situation, why complaining about the guy trying to charge his phone? maybe he has to make an emergency call and he really needs to charge it somewhere, why complaining about the little boy peeing? maybe he couldn't hold it. It’s just a KID! why complaining about strollers? I see them everywhere in Disney World, you want to force babies to walk? Why complaining about the girls who could enter with the selfie stick? they are not hurting anyone. Why complaining about people using umbrellas? Didn't you know that it is the best way to protect yourself from the Ultraviolet light even if it’s not very hot. You are an Idiot.
Do you realise YOU are the one complaining? Lol. Maybe, maybe, maybe. We never know. Selfie sticks used the way it was in my video is fine. But if used on a ride will hurt themselves or people. I'm expressing my own opinions about disrespectful behavior. If you can't see it or disagree, that's fine. Calling a person an idiot for his opinion is NOT. I know my boundaries. Do you? Seems you don't.
It is part of their culture. We visited Shanghai for 3 days (carrying a 10 year tourist visa), I swear it was a big mistake to travel to China. Most people are rude and no etiquette at all. We met a couple of American-Chinese families visiting the country and they promised not to come back! I recently renewed my passport and I didn't even care if I lose the 10-year tourist visa to China! On the other hand, I would come back to Japan anytime, people are so friendly and helpful.
I think this is during the first few months of the opening! I just been there and it was not as bad as this. There is no crowd and actually look a bet intimate with all the Christmas songs on the back ground. Or maybe bec it is winter there is no crowd and it is the week day. SO if you want to visit it the best time is during winter months and weekdays.
Accidentally saw this video and remembered our experience when we went to hongkong ocean park with my family. We were lining up for a ride when a kid suddenly got in front of us, we allowed him because he was a kid but everything went wrong when suddenly 8 members of his family started walking and squueze themselves where the boy lined up. Thankfully there was a staff who saw what happened and escorted then out of the line .
Hi from Singapore! Thanks for the video. I've made up my mind. I will not be visiting Disneyland Shanghai despite being a huge fan of Disney. This really confirmed my concerns about the social etiquettes that I would have to experience when visiting there. I was already having doubts when they were still under construction because I've been to China multiple times for leisure, and that was where I drew the conclusion about their general local social etiquette. I'm so heartbroken, as a Disney fan, that it being an extremely gorgeous and large Disney park was quickly vandalised, and disrespected. Idk man... I'm just really really upset right now. BUT Disney as a corporation wouldn't think otherwise because IT IS driving up very high revenue, and they wouldn't pass a chance like that.
Hello fellow Singaporean Disney fan!! Please don't be upset. It was still a magical experience for me and this is one aspect of it. I have 12 other videos of more fun coming to the channel. Also if you are interested I have a channel where I interview Singapore celebrities in my bedroom called Dwayne's Spin Stop. Do support if you can! ruclips.net/channel/UCwMHkSH3LUFWQea20H39aSQ
Disney Dwayne Hey sorry but I'm not actually a Singaporean, but I've been living for more than a decade. I've just subbed to this channel because im a disnerd myself. Appreciate the response!
LOL !!! Oh well, different cultures. As much as I've enjoyed all the news of Shanghai Disney, I think it's a ONE DAY ONLY visit. Then, on to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. It's a shame, but still overall, it looks like it's a pretty amazing place. Thanks for the videos !
I would say my ethnicity is Chinese but since my families are already rooted in Taiwan for more than 100 years and I born there, I'm so glad that I can put my ethnicity on "others" and write" Taiwanese" , the only sad thing is when I say I speak Chinese and all the people just connect it to "I'm a Chinese" NO! YOU SPEAK ENGLISH BUT YOU CAN BE FROM USA OR GB~ I SPEAK CHINESE BUT I'M NOT FROM THERE !
That's why u have to just chill with it because no matter what u say to other people ur Chinese. So stop making this a big deal people are just going to laugh at us and hate on all Chinese.
+Patrick L Exactly this. For the previous commentators, just read the other comments and you know that only you guys (Taiwanese, Hong Kongers, Singaporeans, Malaysians etc) like to think of Chinese as nationality. The others think of Chinese as a race, so when they hate on Chinese, they hate on you as well. In fact, even the Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese get the hate because of their looks..
I said my ancestor COULD BE Chinese but not exactly because the only thing that my family know is, we're rooted in Taiwan for at least 100 years. Many people like you two think that Taiwanese is basically just Chinese for race, but in the case of talking about being Chinese in race, it's about 80%! and many of are mixed maybe 100 or 200 or even more years ago! and NO, it's not I think of Chinese as nationality! it's the people all around the world, when they found out that you're a foreigner and ask where you from and the language, They often(about 90% of the time) just think "Oh So you're Chinese from China" and I don't feel Chinese this race could united together when they have a common threat or something, they just divided themselves into more small and more clear small circle like Chinese kids born in US then they bound themselves together and judge Chinese from China, Taiwan, and other places. But basically I'm just Taiwanese for race and nationality, that's it and nothing about Chinese
This was happening to the Hong Kong Disneyland before the SH one opened. So many Hong Kongers are glad that there are way fewer mainland tourists in the HK one now, where the locals would never do all those things mainlanders do. LOL Sigh...
I went to Shanghai Disneyland 2 weeks ago and still not regretting for going, but I have to agree with you. Not gonna exactly blame the crowd culture for causing so much chaos (never have I been so angry and actually shouted at people in a Disneyland D: ). Really, the park management should have anticipated this and tailored the park system according to the local culture. They can't just expect a system that works in Japan/ US/ Paris/ HK to work in China since day one. :/
I just got back from a visit to this park on July 9-10, 2016. I observed none of the behaviors reported in this video. There were no signs of vandalism or graffiti. The culture around waiting in lines is different in China than in the UK or the US -- there is more jockeying for position, especially if there is not a well-defined lane for the line to form in. However, although I had a bit of trouble with this in other parts of my visit to China, I had no problems with bad queuing behavior at Shanghai Disneyland. (If you get there at park opening time, be aware that people will run to the Fastpass line or the attraction they want, rather than half running, half walking the way they do in the US.) The only minor annoyance was that, near park closing time, some trash had accumulated in the waiting area for one of the rides (similar to that shown in the video at 1:27). The Disney personnel are impeccably friendly and polite, and most of them speak at least some English. I had a terrific visit - not the same as the Florida or California Disney parks, but of course that’s part of the point.
This somehow makes me feel better that I'm not the only one experiencing this stuff. Maybe those tired people thought it was Sleeping Beauty's castle? XD
I lived in china for a while and these rude behaves happens every where !! i was planning to go there now i changed my mind thanks to you haha keep shooting these videos maybe you can change something !!
I spent 2 days in the park et the opening. The park is beautiful. The behavior of people was normal. Different than US but totally ok. Spent 2 awesome days and the park is beautiful.
+Oussema Daas wait a minute, you just said you lived in china for a while and knew these are the behaviours.... how can you "suddenly" change your mind knowing all along what is happening there?
i ve been to Shanghai disneyland last month and the real travel experience was much better than in this video. Also it's sad to see 1.3 billion mainland Chinese people(a HUGE group making up of 1/5 world's population) defined by some commenters' only one word 'insects'. I bet these are super enthusiastic and welcoming insects than most of other parts of the world! I admit some Chinese are not behaving well but THAT'S NOT ALL. Come to China in person and see it urself.
Exactly, there's LOTS more to explore in the park. This is one aspect of it. I feature 12 more videos which are all positive. Nothing tears down strong Disney magic!
Yes, this is pretty accurate of life in China and they do have a very high threshold for bad manners. BUT - If you don't like it then don't go to China :-). Thailand is nice as is Japan.
mainland culture aside, it's actually a pretty amazing park. Blows any Florida or California park by a long shot. This culture stuff comes with the territory
1: I hate those people who behave improperly in the video, actually I hope this video will unintentionally give pressure to the Chinese media to report and unveil those behaviors. 2: sorry for the guy who made this video. I read all of his comments and all of them just sound like he is trying to be fair and polite. But in this video he just give me the feeling that he was just there to find the uglinesses and he seemed enjoy it a lot. I am a Chinese. And I hate those who behave improperly, no matter where they are from. And for people like the this guy, he is still worth being thanked, and a punch in the face.
Wow, so sad that a park that disney probably spent millions maybe even billions of dollars on a park that is now getting trashed. If the company was smart they would have put it somewhere more nicer, maybe Australia? If the park is like this still like this in a couple of years i wont be surprised if disney pulls this park out of china and slowly moves it somewhere else because NO park that disney owns should be like this.
HK Disneyland is also like this! Same type of people doing this stuff.... Thats why I don't wanna go to HK disneyland anymore :( When I went last time, when we were queueing for a ride there was a family of 4 pushing their way into the front of the queue. My brother and I stood as firmly as we could, taking up the whole width of the queue space to stop them from passing us as we had seen them push their way in front of everyone behind us. In the end they didn't manage to get past us, they kept insulting us in mandarin though and complaining that we were taking up so much space. They probably thought we didn't understand because my bro and I were using English with each other, but we understood everything they said.
Few days ago a Taiwanese went to Shanghai Disney land. She complaint about an aunty cutting in line. "No cutting in line! " "DOES ONE PERSON CUT IN LINE MAKE ANY DIFFERENT?! " "NO, IT DOESN'T!!!BUT I HATE IT!!" "FINE!!! " (walk away)
Oh wow... these things are exactly my concerns of going to Disney Shanghai. I enjoy all the Disney Parks I have been to, and this new addition in China is somehow scary to visit. Thanks for sharing... I might think again whether to visit it or maybe not..
i really wanted to go..but not anymore..I'm an AP for the Disneyland resort in california and i could not be more proud of our park..you don't see any of that here.
I agree some Chinese are not very well educated to be polite and civilized. But it’s not all chinese act like that. A lot of them are just not taught right. Many of Chinese are well educated, kind and helpful.
This clip and those comments make me sad. I admit that some Chinese are not so nice, but many Chinese have started noticing their manners. We are changing and we need more time. Huge population is indeed a problem. Plz don't use "the worst" to describe us because these words are rude too.
Just came back from Shanghai Disneyland, and I can tell you 11 months on, it has changed so much from what you see in this video. No one is sitting around inside the middle of the castle, or no more peeing kids. People are doing their business in the toilets provided, and then most important thing is that the park still holds it's magic. I'll definitely put Shanghai Disneyland back on my to revisit before Hong Kong or possibly even Japan. The parks are spotless and clean, the waiting lines are trash free, and after parades, or fireworks, the cleaners sweep the streets clean Chinese-efficiency style.
You can analyse and explain the situation, instead of saying "oh I have nothing to do with mainland". I'm Shanghainese and be proud as many are contributing in the world. Domestic social media constantly reporting those behaviour issue and millions of netizens are angry about those shameless ones. It's complex and could took 2 - 3 decades to resolve gradually.
I like Chinese culture. I know I am a Chinese, but I will not willing to say I am a Chinese from PRC. I just want to say if you go outside and say you are a Chinese, people just associate Chinese with some bad behaviour. If you want to talk about national identity of Chinese people, I think you should first study why some people nowadays not willing to say "I am a Chinese"
There's nothing to study, basic psychological defense mechanism - denial. There are many other form of defense mechanism you can use. I'm not ashamed of from mainland China, I designed lots of the cutting edge street luminaries in UK for London and everyone clearly knows where I'm from. Believe me, majority of the westerners (Briton or American) are not racist. All you see in this comment section are mostly losers and can only a keyboard warrior at home.
I know you try very hard to neutralise your standpoint. On one hand, proud to be a Chinese / Shanghainese, said don't deny your identity simply because of a part of group is bad, Chinese should be improved and educated blah blah blah....... On the other hand, criticise people as scums, losers, keyboard warrior. I can understand why it is hard to communicate with some of netizens from mainland China. I think you are little better than those 50 cent party members in mainland China. At least you know how to use psychological theory and work overseas.
These are the people who are ashamed of being Chinese although they are totally yellow. Putting the white men on the pedestal is their favourite passtime.
this is sad man..... i'm chinese but this is going too far... for God's sake, they need to know how to be polite, clean, know personal space, and know how to qeue.... correctly
Dude for the soaring above the horizons ride or whatever it was called there when I went the queue time was 75 minutes and you had to wait in the most narrow corridor ever for the whole time, it was also over 30 degrees Celsius that day and there was no air conditioning covering the area. Also like 3 little kids jumping around in front of me and climbing on the poles while teenage girls accidentally stood on my shoes from behind every 5 minutes lmao
Well why put a video up promoting it as a claustrophobic mess? China is a big place with a large population its bound to be busy. This video comes across as xenophobic.
Honestly, here in the States, the people in Disney do the same rude things. I see it all the time when I visit Orlando. For the exception of some things, especially public urination and pooping lol
Im having second thoughts about going now... Ok dont worry issie just dont look at what people are doing and just enjoy the attractions and entertainment
I went to Shanghai disney back at the start of October. I was there a day after the national holiday week finished, and whilst a lot of the issues Dwane mentions are true (re: personal space and pushiness) - I was polite and firm about saying, "no, I will not let you past" or "please don't push" and this seemed to shame people into behaving properly most of the time. Never had to tell people off at any of the other Disneys though (US, JP, HK)! I got really lucky-the park was "quiet" by shanghai standards. I didn't wait more than 35 mins on any ride (which is very short, compared to 100, 120 and 150 min wait times on busy days), and was able to go on all the rides I wanted, more than once on several of them. The point is - it really depends on what day you go. Camp Discovery is AMAZING though - I recommend going purely for that experience. The theming is so on-point. So, just go knowing that there will be a bit of pushing and shoving now and then, but it's such a beautiful and amazing park that it's totally worth it.
That's the one thing I didn't take the time to do. Camp Discovery. I need to go back. In any case, you were luckier in that the people I told to please not try push past me didn't seem to want to cooperate. =(
I am kinda be use to the rudeness cause we got so rude people in my school and i go to china every year cause pretty much all my family lives their, but yea, my mum thinks it wont be to busy when we go cause its a Monday, but if we were to go during Chinese new year week she thinks it might be really busy, plus the tickets are more expensive on a holiday and on weekends. We are aiming on going to every single attraction and see the entertainment, And hopefully it will be like your experience that i get to go on all rides more than once! Not looking forward to rudeness.
Was there just few days ago! None of the content in the video is true! The park was clean! People was polite. Staffs working constantly non stop cleaning up picking up even the smallest candy wrappers. So sad to come home just to see this video criticizing! Again NOT TRUE! Except the long ques! Everywhere! TIP: spend more then 2 days of visit to fully enjoy the facilities without rushing. PATIENCE IS KEY! enjoy!!
I knew this was going to be the result, the Mainlanders are so uncivilized. Thanks for sharing this Dwayne. I will definitely avoid Shanghai Disneyland and seek out Tokyo Disneyland for my next vacation. It looks so miserable and undesirable in Shanghai.
You want more space? Stay in America. China is a country of 1.4billion. Shanghai alone has 24million residents. Don't bring your attitude to a different country and different culture or you'll never enjoy anywhere you go!
Wow! First of all, I think you're right. Those behaviors were worst, and as a Chinese I don't like those people doing these either. But I'm gonna to say that most of comments piss me off. These RACISM people tried their best to be POLITE, and they're so EDUCATED. Also there is one thing I want to say to this youtuber that all the things are normally happening everyday in China, but they're changing slowly I have to say. And I think holding an umbrella is not weird in China. So in your mind things have to be right if they are in the WESTERN trend lol
As a Swedish person i will have night mares about the lack of personal space thanks Obama!
I mean as a finnish person I got anxious in gröna lund, I wouldn't go to this disneyland even if they paid me
Thats why they placed the bar at the entrance of Gröna Lund to help people cope. Still felt violated after the waitress asked if I wanted a refill.
Damn Anderz I haven't seen you in ages! I used to watch your CSGO vids all the time
why are you here? im surprised
I have a lot more to say but I’ll save myself lol.
maybe they made shanghai disneyland so they don't have to go abroad and ruin other disneylands for all of us.
+SP Yip omg ikr i really cant overlook it every time i go to disneyland its PACKED with Chinese n I'm not racist i just can't stand it when they act smart and just come in front of u in the line. It's crazy!
Stroke of genius on Disney's part!
Disney predicted that this would happen so...
exactly!
This explained everything. I mean who invest in this shit place?
I can't believe they allow umbrellas. Just visited Tokyo DisneySea and the staff is actively telling people to put away their umbrella or selfie sticks they snuck in. Even hats and decorations on the head were taken off to not block the people behind them.
Exactly. They should do more in Shanghai.
Damn. Billions were spent on that frikin park lo l
Yup #ThanksShanghai
tru tru (nice to see you here bing)
Yes, Japan is very respectful and our family of 7 were there at Disney. Thanks for the share!! :)
Japan also has its negative side.
yeah but not as bad as the Chinese, believe me I have stayed in Japan for 5 years.
Not as much at all
Yeah, they are super polite really and considerate. Japanese are taught manners since young.
It's China dude, what do you expect?
a lot of chinese people were born into very unprivileged backgrounds, many of the rich mainlanders you see coming into north america now only very recently became rich
I grew up in canada and had to spend a year of my life in china, it was truly a culture shock:
the conditions these people have to live in are very sad, even larger rich cities do not provide people with the most basic health and sanitary environments
a lot of these problems stem back from decades of corruption from the communist party, china use to be a land full of respect and love, that's how the japanese and korean got a lot of their customs and values, its so sad that modern china has forgotten all of these beautiful philosophies
agree its sad considering im also a chinese and seeing my motherland became so bad....
Be prideful all you want, but if the entire world hates your kind, you know it's your problem, not the world's problem.
is their behaviour so messed up because of the cultural revolution?
You would have to pay me to go on vacation in China.
Not even
totally agree...went to Shanghai once...what a nightmare for Christ's sake!
+ga gogo that's strange, because I went to 3 cities including Shanghai and had a great time. Same goes for every other person I know who has visited China.
I'd choose to go China than going to the US cuz I would rather have my personal space violated than getting randomly shot dead on the street.
+Thomas GC then go there and stay there. case closed
Where Dreams Come True... and it's a Nightmare~ ... T.T
This makes me sad to see it being like this already. But when you consider how quickly things have changed for people in Mainland China, you do realise why so many seem like this. Hopefully in time things will improve.
hmm
At least people will know they shouldn't go to China, or they will have to expect this.
+Yuan Zhang Well, he/she is a Hongkongese obviously...you can tell by his/her user name which is not Pinyin
true. thx for them
I was at Tokyo and I've never seen people line up so politely.
The most amazing thing is to actually see them in a line, they're known for not knowing the concept of a line.
This is a Mainland China problem, right? I've been to HK Disneyland three times. I've never seen anything like this.
This might be a dumb question, but what exactly is considered mainland? Shangai and HK are both in the mainland coast as far as I know?
+NuncFluens
mainland is china itself the country
they say mainland because chinese from different parts of the world act different from them
and hong kong isnt mainland even hong kong chinese hate mainland chinese people
I am born and live in Hong Kong, and I found that you know the turth exactly right!
Bloody happen here:
- 5 bookseller kidnap to mainland China by China police in Hong Kong
- Royalists cheating elders in council voting
- Significant international air security cause by chief executive family
- Chief executive CY Leung bribe happen by UGL company
Damm, we can told the story more and more, but all about that was how had Hong Kong right now.
Thank God they have their own Disneyland, we could now just let them mess up their own place, you know what I mean :)
Solly
+Gotta Go dont worry this HR guy had been defending China in this comment section by saying japan is also bad hk is also bad taiwan is also bad lol
+MrRay168 I gusee he's not racist, after all he hates everybody equally lol. #nolivesmatter
taiwanese are more like on japanese side
Gotta Go
Hongkongese are the same as people from mainland when it comes to the terms of manners and behaviors in public spaces.
How do you cope breathing in all that pollution bro?
Well, SH isn't as bad as most of China thanks to the ocean air currents, but in relation to the West, it's pretty bad air.
I limit my exposure outside if it gets really bad in the winter, and wear a mask. In the summer, air quality improves considerably thanks to storms and typhoons coming in off of the Pacific.
Overall though, you get used to it, and fully appreciate the clean air when you go home.
Anyone who lives/lived in China knew Disneyland was going to be a nong show.
you avoid heavily congested areas? You live in SH. One of the most congested areas of the entire planet
Congested relative to SH, of course.
They built one in Shanghai to save other Disney Land parks like Hongkong. Well played Disney.
As a British person, known for our love of queueing, the lack of queuing in China slowly ate away at my soul
ItsMaximoose
We should do a cross channel collab sometime.
This saves HK Disneyland. Such a mercy
so you guys now know how sad Hong Kong people are when mainland Chinese came to HK Disneyland before the Shanghai one is open.
Oh gawd same here. There's too many of them in Vancouver.
you can say that again! their migration to Canada is a mishap.
Bill Chan hahahaha!
+Bill Chan They like to think they are better because of their birth place. But if they live in Canada, they should know that when the other types talk about foreign Chinese, they are talking about all asian looking people as well, no matter if they are born in Canada. Tough to accept but that's how it is.
that is true.
Thanks for the feedback. Also glad to hear this is an improvement already. Let's hope for more. Everyone deserves more. =)
Walt lived through World War I and II, I don't think he'd be that phased by bad manners.
Of course I understand that this will take time and we have to point it out and patiently try to solve this together =)
OMG! first time to get replied by RUclipsr and in just 5 minutes !! LOL so pleased!!!. Thank u for noticing me !!!!!
Pathetic much?
#justsayin
We need a bunch of Americans there to police this hehe
Don't try that on women, they scream, crowd looks at a beast (you 6'5" monster) and immediately jump to conclusions.
It's some survival instinct that has kicked but for foreigners it can be quite a shock.
hahaha so China quality
hahaha, your response shows your quality.
and you buy them .
Have u ever gone to indonesian amusement park? Trust me, its very similar
I spent two weeks in China on business last year. This video is exactly what I saw and experienced everywhere I went. It's just the Chinese life, society, and culture. If you have an issue with personal space you may not want to visit.
I work at Walt Disney World and this is something I see everyday from American people as well. This video was not a big surprise for me.
Thanks for sharing that insight. A lot of people think my gripe is racial. It's not. It's about behavior and respect.
How do you know they will bring the stick to the ride? How do we know the way you use it is safe? You are too arrogant and self-centered.
ruclips.net/video/QgGtMgjwoas/видео.html
Thankfully there was a staff who saw what happened and escorted then out of the line .
she's letting her kid pee through a freaking gate! i can't wrap my mind around that one. are the queues too long at the restrooms or something???
I was at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea last week and cast members actually asked those with umbrellas to close them during shows
Hi from Singapore!

Disney Dwayne Hey sorry but I'm not actually a Singaporean, but I've been living for more than a decade. I've just subbed to this channel because im a disnerd myself. Appreciate the response!
PutThatThingBackWhereItCameFrom
Thank you very much!! =)
I highly recommend exploring the park during a rainy thunderstorm on a weekday when 90% of the crowd is avoiding the weather or at school.
Guy Fawkes Good advice!!
Thanks for watching! Culture is something that might not change for quite a while if ever. Kudos to the staff at Shanghai Disneyland!
I would say my ethnicity is Chinese but since my families are already rooted in Taiwan for more than 100 years and I born there, I'm so glad that I can put my ethnicity on "others" and write" Taiwanese" , the only sad thing is when I say I speak Chinese and all the people just connect it to "I'm a Chinese"
NO! YOU SPEAK ENGLISH BUT YOU CAN BE FROM USA OR GB~ I SPEAK CHINESE BUT I'M NOT FROM THERE !
Totally agree with u Btw Im from HK so I know exactly how it feels
i m from singapore n i m a chinese
Many people like you two think that Taiwanese is basically just Chinese for race, but in the case of talking about being Chinese in race, it's about 80%! and many of are mixed maybe 100 or 200 or even more years ago!
and NO, it's not I think of Chinese as nationality! it's the people all around the world,
when they found out that you're a foreigner and ask where you from and the language, They often(about 90% of the time) just think "Oh So you're Chinese from China"
and I don't feel Chinese this race could united together when they have a common threat or something, they just divided themselves into more small and more clear small circle
like Chinese kids born in US then they bound themselves together and judge Chinese from China, Taiwan, and other places.
He is so right. In Japan they don't speak on buses. Japan sets the example of how a respectful of others in society.
mainland culture aside, it's actually a pretty amazing park.
I guess you'd just have to arrive with totally different cultural expectations especially if you visit Tokyo Disneyland on the same trip.
The overwhelming flow of people makes everything possible, bad or good
what is the no access area those people were going in? like what ride was that queue line for?
It was while queueing for the Captain Jack Sparrow Stunt Spectacular
Disney Dwayne wow, how did they even get into that area? just jump the fencing?
+RideAllNight There was a side gate. So I'm assuming they broke that open?
Wow, so sad that a park that disney probably spent millions maybe even billions of dollars on a park that is now getting trashed. If the company was smart they would have put it somewhere more nicer, maybe Australia? If the park is like this still like this in a couple of years i wont be surprised if disney pulls this park out of china and slowly moves it somewhere else because NO park that disney owns should be like this.
+RidAllNight you know that this park is a money maker right? Shanghai alone has a population of 23+ million.
"DOES ONE PERSON CUT IN LINE MAKE ANY DIFFERENT?! "
"NO, IT DOESN'T!!!BUT I HATE IT!!"
"FINE!!! " (walk away)
Do people in China generally refer to strangers as "aunty" if the lady is old?
Oh wow... these things are exactly my concerns of going to Disney Shanghai.
"I just couldn't and it would be wrong to film it. "
yeah, right!
They sleep in the beds at IKEA too.....at the store..
I find this true. Every tourist destination I've been to, Chinese tour groups would always be rude, annoying, and fucking loud.
Disney should have named the park Shitneyland Shanghai.
That's why I will never say I am a Chinese. I will say I am a Hong Konger although some people may say you still a Chinese.
I'll go there in August and this video make me wanna cry T_T
You'll be fine!! Lol
+Disney Dwayne It's much worse than I thought Orz
Thanks but No We wont go there (Disney Shanghai) a big NO!! hahaha thanks for sharing
It's still got some really amazing attractions and rides!
+Disney Dwayne looks like the place needs more security and benches
Omg! This is horrifying. Disney should just limit the amount of people that can come in the park
Disney should audition them before letting them in.
this is sad man..... i'm chinese but this is going too far... for God's sake, they need to know how to be polite, clean, know personal space, and know how to qeue....
Grit I waited two hours over for Soarin back when it was open. Sorry to hear that :( Hope you spotted the hidden Mickey there while waiting though!
Damm 2 hours?! that crazy. And nah I unfortunately didn't see the Mickey there hahah.
I'm gonna be there in three months. What the hell.
This is footage from 2 full days of being at the park. And this video is only 3 mins long. Don't worry too much. =)
Well why put a video up promoting it as a claustrophobic mess? China is a big place with a large population its bound to be busy. This video comes across as xenophobic.
this is the first video I have ever seen that actually made me feel racist.
Disney Dwayne Alright, i'm sure I'll have a good time, but Chinese culture seems increasingly rowdy to me.
Good luck being pushed and shoved, and basically being sandwiched together in line.
Subscribed the second after I saw this video on the news! Thanks for the review. Needed that.
Thanks for the support! You're now a Double D! :)
Honestly, here in the States, the people in Disney do the same rude things. I see it all the time when I visit Orlando. For the exception of some things, especially public urination and pooping lol
Although many crowd culture in Shanghai Disneyland, this Disneyland is also FUN!
Im having second thoughts about going now... Ok dont worry issie just dont look at what people are doing and just enjoy the attractions and entertainment
That's mostly what I did and I still enjoyed the park. So don't worry too much. =)
Disney Dwayne ok thx!
Haha! I guess, welcome to the land of billions? Enjoyed the vid!
Yay. Thanks! But not sure I enjoyed experiencing all of it but definitely entertaining putting it together.
Yes, awkward moments can make great video highlights! lol
PATIENCE IS KEY! enjoy!!
Im happy it's this location the other disneyland there so nice and they actually sit on the ground or a bench to watch the show
u never go to the front of the line because they always jump the queue ! wtf!
If someone stands so near to me, I usually will turn around and sneeze.
I laughed so hard at the phone charging part 😂
I was actually looking to charge my phone so I was hopeful for a bit and then realised... erm NOPE, not behaving like that.
