We put a Lincoln 460 in my 79 f150 4x4 short box when I was 16. It had a 400 originally and I don’t remember needing to change motor mounts or anything. I loved that truck. Straight duals and “yankin” it down to 2nd then 1st to engine brake 😎
Good job! I have a 77 F100 that I built an 88 460 for and left it fuel injected. I noticed your valve covers look like they need to be swapped so you can put oil in it easier. Good luck!
Cool project, I did two 460 transplants into 70's trucks many years ago, both engines were from 70's Marquis cars. But I had donor trucks to get the engine mounts, transmission linkages and 4 core radiators from to make the switch easy. Back then there were still lots of those trucks sitting around in backyards and auto wreckers to get parts from. Just curious about your headers, did you have to gouge a little piece out of the cross member under the transmission for the collectors to clear on the passenger side? I had to on both my transplants, I forget what brand they were. I also own a 1976 f250 xlt extended cab with a 460 automatic in two tone green and white. But it is totally original with only 63,000 miles on it and is in great shape with no rust. I've played with the idea of putting a cam and intake and headers on it to wake it up but you hardly ever see these survivors around anymore so she is going to stay the way it is. It sure is fun to take it out once in a while and open it up, even stock these 460s went pretty good. Thanks for the video, looking forward to seeing your next ones!
It is an 80s short block and heads with components to fit the 74 truck. I posted an engine dyno video and it’s linked in the description if you want to check it out. It’s pretty cool and gives the horsepower and torque

Haha I think you’re right about the valve covers. Glad you caught that! That’ll help next oil change
easy mistake, I did it myself, lol!@@cronedentside74
I’m doing the same currently with a 360 fe 1970 f250 c/s 👍

Yes! I forgot to include that but I did cut a small piece off that crossmember
Great Job!
Did you have to make any modifications to the transmission crossmember?
Luckily no. It seems there were factory holes for it to bolt to even tho the mount was slightly further back than the C4 transmission was.
Yay! 69 likes... awww 70 likes. Nice job I can't wait to do this myself!
What year is that 460? Do you know how much HP?

You need a truck pan and oil pickup for the 460.
This is true! Those part numbers are in my engine dyno video.
What headers ??
Header part numbers are in my dyno video on my page. I also give almost all the other part numbers for the build there
My 78 came with a 460 with a c6
Oh cool! Must have got my dates wrong.
