  • This is the new Honda ZRV. It sits between the Honda HRV and the Honda CR-V. ZRV’s started production in 2022 and early models rolled out in 2023 so it's a very new car to the mid size compact SUV sector. It shares its build platform with the mighty Honda Civic 11th generation, which we reviewed, recently, check our RUclips Channel or click on the link in the video to watch the review on that car if you are interested.
Honda ZRV's are named after Gen Z's and the car is known affectionately as the Z run about. Just in case you weren’t aware, Gen Z's are people born between 1990 and 2010 and are the children of gen X. They were the first social generation with access to the Internet and portable tech.
Hope you enjoy our review and road test of the Honda ZRV....

It seems to be a silly Marketing mistake by Honda to have called it an eCVT, when it is not a CVT as people know it historically. I have one of these ZRV hybrids and the transmission sensation when driving is fabulous ... feels so much like the regular 6 speed transmission in my old car - but better. This is a great car to drive - excellent visibility and great handling.

I have had the same colour advance model since January and it's an amazing car. The eCVT is nothing like you say though! It does change gears and imitates an 8 speed auto gearbox and it does it very very well! Mine has a opening pano roof, 6in HUD, a superb 12 speaker Bose system, heated rear outer seats, matrix style adaptive lighting, diamond cut alloys, heated steering wheel and a very very nice genuine full leather interior. 16k miles so far and 43.5mpg driving without trying.....55-60mpg if I tried! Prefect family car for us

Thanks for the review. Gave the ZRV hybrid a test drive and it's fantastic. Ordered one in red.

It doesn't have a conventional CVT transmission. There is no belt and there are no pulleys. The final drive is by electric motor only, except at speeds over about 62mph, when the combustion engine takes over to drive the differential (i.e the front wheels) directly. The smaller motor generator does nothing except to use engine power to generate electricity and charge the battery.

Such a shame Honda Uk don’t drop list price below the £40k high tax threshold (rather than offer large discounts off RRP)

It’s no good saying I don’t like the cvt gearbox slagging it off and then telling people to go check the fantastic car out!!! It’s getting that fantastic economy largely with the gearbox same as Toyota!!Honda will be chuffed lending you the car with such narrowmindness!!
