Are we sure the NBA actually makes money? It's not like we get to see their real books. My hunch if they, meaning the league and most of the teams, have an open checkbook from the banks, CIA, and private foundations. And if I had to guess, I'd say their marketing and advertising spends are not in line with what they generate. Basically, like every other big company whose primary goal is to push political agendas and radicalize local populations. Also, the "corporate partnerships" with media, legal, and other elements are impossible to analyze financially.
The viewers age is a BIG DEAL, most of the people I know that follow the league are between 14-25 and 90% watch most of it through illegal streaming, mostly because of the lack of money. However, NBA ratings have skyrocketed globally, it is becoming more more international, something that no other USA league has truly done.
The problem with the sports leagues in the US is that basically nobody cares about their sports other than basketball. Baseball, American football and Ice Hockey are not very popular outside of the US, unlike basketball where you only need a ball and a ring
Thanks for making this video. I was always curious to know how they make money. I thought the owners of the teams decided the salary cap but after knowing the reason why it makes perfect sense.
You must be doing something right. The algorithm is pushing your video, I'm located in Mexico and it was the first suggestion on my fee. Love the quality of the video 👌
4 months later and it‘s basically very true. You have so many contenders like the nets, lakers, clippers, bucks, suns, nuggets etc. AND underdogs like the warriors, utah… it‘s crazy competitive although I believe the Nets will win it all if healthy
Dude we need more NBA teams. 4 team expansion. Seattle, Vancouver, Mexico City?? Move Memphis to the East & then give Montreal a city too they got 3.5 Million people over there
Games under the COVID bubble prove that players could successfully build their own, new league. If unified, the top 30-60 players hold tremendous leverage. They could become majority owners almost overnight. During the COVID hiatus period, the top players could spend their time strategizing on how to build a league of their own. #RoleModelsforEntrepreneurship #TheArtofWar

I've opened this video just to comment. WTF? Is that a real question? Don't everybody see the merchandising, the clothes and wearing pieces everywhere?
How does the NBA make money? They manufacture a jersey for $6 in Bangladesh and sell it for $60.
Basically oppression, tickets, some other shit
Technically it’s Nike that manufacture a jersey in Bangladesh

Why every? You’re acting like everyone of them complains.
I love you
Even if they watch this, they still wouldn’t listen
@Future Hendrix yeah but not everyone

The WNBA would be even more interesting. How much revenue do they bring in?
The production quality of your videos is amazing. It's a shame it doesn't have a lot of views yet. Such great content from an underrated channel.

I wish you couldn’t go above the salary cap at all. Super teams are becoming more and more common because of going over the cap.

They should get another team in Austin and get a team in San Diego

When you mention NYC around 2:18, you show a pic of Chicago's John Hancock Center... is this on purpose?
At 2:15, they're talking about New York while showing Chicago...

@Arcane do you have some sources for me? I really need this for school.

In brazil, a lakers jersey costs about R$500 (U$100). Almost double the price in the US
Depends on the Jersey, star player jersey will go to $300 in the states while random player jersey can be as low at $30
Ratings are down because of load management & injuries
Pretty good

None of this would be possible without Michael Jordan.
The continuation wouldn’t be possible without Yao Ming (opening the humongous Chinese market), Kobe and ofc KING LEBRON

For a country that's strictly capitalist I'm surprised the NBA revenue sharing model was accepted
The NBA lottery makes a 100 billion ha bet on that 😎
How about all the money they make off RUclips?
It falls on the marketing part, like what they won if ads, and they probably have a deal with RUclips to pass official content

I believe becoming political, which wasn't a part of their strategy until Adam Silver, is what attributes to some of their declining viewership.
