The NBA has always done a better job of marketing the players individually and building a lifestyle around basketball. Baseball is very much against modern marketing.. no idea why!
or maybe MLB knows that it's sport is too complicated to be marketed to non-English speakers. Even the uniforms are stylized to look old, it's like they're content with marketing to old dudes
@@grahamsullivan1385 well Michael Jordan retired from basketball twice. The first time he retired he tried to play baseball but that didn't work out too well. He was really bad. Also a big part of the NBA's marketability us directly linked to mj.
Let's be real, it's much easier to understand, i'm not a fan of either but i'm sure i know most of the rules of Basketball and when you play just for fun there is basically no rules, to this day idk how Baseball, cricket or american football works and you can't just play these sports with a friend of yours, you need equipment for baseball, bat, glove and what not, unless you just play ''throw and catch'' or whatever.
It mostly depends on where you live, but in France elementary and middle schools propose Baseball as a mandatory sport class. We played it on football field. They didn't need to dumb down the rules, what you need to grasp to play is actually simple - It's not rugby union. I bet the 188 pages are more about definitions and the run of overall league than how the game should be played. As far as the needed gear goes the minimum thing required is a bat. You only need an "armour" if there's someone behind the batter. Sure it's better if there are gloves for everyone but, if not, that's still a pleasant game to play "low cost". And that's probably why some schools propose it to their pupils. Basket is not that much simple with its rules. It's just everything happens quicker. Some rules are only there to prevent slow pacing - and if referees have to intervene it feels more seamless on your TV.
@@Thorpal It might also depend on where you live in France/or on the facilities of your school because it has never been mandatory in my schools (and from what I know of other schools around). But! We had a derivative of baseball, much simpler, called Thèque. I had it as part of one of the trimester programs at least once out of the four years of middle school (each year in september, you need to choose one program out of three or four, for example: first trimester, football, second semester, athletics and third, handball). Nice trip down memory lane :) I agree though, you just need a bat and a ball. I would never watch baseball on TV though. Basketball, on the other hand, is a fun game to watch!

Basketball like football is something anyone with a ball can pick up and do on their own (obv need a basket for bball and just a wall for football) it's just a simple accessibility issue
I remember it started out as baseball for me growing up as a kid and then the Micheal Jordan phenomenon happened. You could see a commercial, ask your dad to lower the hoop go outside and practice his dunk or moves. You could shoot a 3 and pretend to be Bird, make a behind the back pass and pretend to be Magic. I think the marketing of the stars really allows you to be them for a moment and feel good, which is why you'll buy into something that further helps you pretend.
The one thing that was not very accurate is that baseball does have many international players. Lots of players and even star players in the MLB are from the Dominican Republic for example. There are many players from Cuba, Japan, Venezuela, and more. It is true that it has not reached big markets like China and Europe though.
I was thinking the same thing. Lots of international talent in baseball, just not from Europe, or English speaking countries. Although it can't be argued that basketball doesn't have bigger international stars.
Some topics I think would make interesting content: * The recent expansion in the NHL with the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken * Sports arenas purpose construction and their impact on the cities, particularly in regard to one-time events like a FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euros or the Olympics * Pros and cons about "import" restrictions in sports leagues, e.g. a lot of sports league in nations only allow a team to have a set amount of foreign players * Professional wrestling, particularly in regard to WWE finally having a domestic competitor in AEW in the U.S. * Systems of relegation vs. a closed competition league, e.g. the swiss top hockey league is currently trying to go remove relegation and become a closed system * Sports as a subject for another kind of media, e.g. what does it take to make a sports movie and how do you procure the rights for teams and the ability to film in stadiums, etc.
The "Sports arenas topic" would be very interesting. I would like to know that as well. Relegation vs closed competition is also interesting. Especially because you brought a Swiss example.
Some nice ideas there. I'd like to add that in rugby some nations only allow players on their national teams when they play domestically. And interestingly the German ice hockey league is considering to open up to relegation again.
Its weird, I haven't followed basketball much lately. But have been following baseball. I think its because my kid started playing baseball so naturally I'm learning more about it and find it interesting. I didn't understand it much before. Especially the pitching and hitting aspect which gets pretty deep. I also like that in baseball any body shape can play and succeed. But in basketball you have to a freak of nature and have a big wing span and big hands, not to mention height of course (though there are a few rare exceptions).
True bro,the game is very interesting if you understand it in depth. I am indian and i got introduced to baseball last year and now i wake up at 5.00 to watch baseball games.
@@saleelgaidhani3732 honestly this so true. I have been playing since I was 4 and its not like other sports. You dont need the "perfect body" or to be super tall or to have no fat. All of those things can help you in baseball, but its more about mechanics and knowing how to play rather than your body. You can be 6'4 200 pounds and be just as good as someone who is 5'5 150 pounds.
Videogames is a good place to start. It's how I got into football. Currently if you have a PS4/PS5 or Xbox you can give MLB the Show a go. Once you get into the perspective of a batter/pitcher and understand on a rudimentary level what they are trying to do out there, it's very interesting. The face off between PItcher vs. Batter especially in high leverage situations is a mental (and physical) chess match that I think has no comparison in any sport, and if you understand probabilities in baseball it can be fascinating how a single pitch in a certain situation can send the probabilities of a team winning crashing to one side or the other.
The hardest part about getting interest in baseball (outside of MLB ownership, broadcast rights, etc) is the best way to experience it is in person with a friend and a crowd around you. And the only way that really lasts longer than a day with people is if they have played before and can really understand what it is they are watching. Understanding rules aside, not knowing what it feels like to stand in the box and have your legs buckle from a curveball doesn't easily translate. And the biggest issue that really can't be changed is just how terrible baseball is as a TV viewer. It's baked into how the game is played and there really isn't anything that can be done about it without it becoming a different sport. Not just pace of play, but the most effective way to play the game is absolutely the least flashy as the goal is to have defenders be as irrelevant and stand as still as possible.
Baseball is extremely fun to watch in person as it might be the sport with some of the most direct interaction between the crowd and the game. That’s where I understand the name “America’s pass time” but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baseball game on Tv. It’s much less entertaining unless you’re really into the sport.

I really like baseball, It's about the only sport I watch at this point, but I absolutely understand why people find it boring. It takes a lot of time and understanding to find what's happening interesting every minute of the game, understanding pitching strategy and complicated stats definitely help with my enjoyment, but that took years to learn and understand deeply. Basketball however is overall pretty simple.
I understand baseball played until HS & watched till college…It’s just insufferably BORING. If I feel this way as an adult I can’t imagine how younger generations w/near zero attention spans will watch. MLB in BIG trouble
Also when you attend a NBA game you are a lot closer to the court compared to MLB. I've also noticed that it is far easier to see what is going on in a basketball game than a baseball game. Baseball is still my favorite sport to watch and play because I grew up in a family that watched a lot of baseball and football(American). My favorite teams are the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
the Mets drive me to my emotional limits on an almost daily basis but if they aren't playing I can't watch a baseball game without getting bored by the 3rd inning
Yeah I feel like watching basketball you can never leave the tv because you feel like your gonna miss something each time because anything can happen at any time. In baseball there is a possibility that you could sit on the toilet for 30 minutes come back and miss nothing. And as a admittedly zoomer by attention spam is like 3 minutes when it comes to watching sports. And baseball rarely makes the cut. Now I like the sport baseball but it’s just boring to watch a full game. I always watch clips of it instead of having to wait every 10 minutes for something mildly exiting to happen.
Jordan and Dream Team made game globally in Barca in 92, plus David Stern always try to expend the game globally and it paid off, bc a lot of today's superstars are not from America, plus basketball is more fun to watch then Baseball
Many international superstars in the NBA have spoken about the influence the Dream Team had on them. Dirk grew up with a poster of MJ and Pippen in his bedroom.
@@vanthom9185 Well it's more like Bird and Magic laid a new foundation for the sport domestically and reinvigorated it in the US. Then Jordan built off the era took it into stratosphere due to how they marketed him, and the Dream Team happens with those 3 legends on the same team which creates a global popularity explosion, then it's the rise of International stars in the NBA which solidifies it. But I agree it all starts with the Magic vs Bird/Lakers vs Celtics rivalry which was just awesome. I think them being different races and being equals in talent really added to the mythos of it culturally.
basketball is just better for dumbass fans that want to see buzzer beaters. they dont have the attention span or emotional intelligence to really understand baseball. like yeah basketball showcases improvisation but the end of the day its just about big people putting a ball in a hole the at arms reach.
As someone the UK, I much prefer basketball. Way easier to follow the results and we've already got cricket. I imagine it's the same in India and Australia, Baseball's just too similar for anyone to get excited for it after following the established sport. Also cricket's got international matches and short form matches so there's more variety.
Yep, and even tho baseball is similar the point system is very confusing compared to cricket. And ICC would be just few years away to acknowledge and host the t10 games which has a total run time of nearly 2 hours(including the innings break).
I think the reason why football ⚽️ is ahead of other sports is because you just need a ball to play i remember when i was a kid in my grandparents village we used to make goals by putting two stones as bars n we make the ball out of cloth n papers
It seems to me that the fact that many basketball players look like super-human giants is a factor which makes it easier to market, and it also gives some additional value for sponsorship deals.
The 90s was the golden age of basketball with superstars like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Dennis Rodman and many more Plus the Dream Team dominated the 1992 Olympics
@@saleelgaidhani3732 yes, but I am sure many people watch only the final session or final day live. Because you can see everything important in the highlights anyway

"Only few americans watch soccer" This is really untrue depending on the region. Soccer is the only sport in which all three big cities in the pacific northwest (Portland, Seattle, vancouver) have a team and they're all HUGE up here. As for baseball, it's not popular at all up here. That said, knowing who's up to bat and who can score isn't complicated in the least. The rest of the little rules can be. Mean while basketball is the biggest sport in this region. Always has been.
@Buddha It's true though, the single hardest thing to do in all of sports is to hit a baseball off of a major league pitcher, I doubt you could even hit off of a NCAA pitcher
That is completely ridiculous. It's comical. There are many things more difficult in sports than hitting a little freaking ball with a stick where everyone is standing without physical distraction. Boring to the point of insanity. That's not sport, that's stupidity.
@milosjovicevic6083 Factoring in average reaction time perception of an image, you have 0.15 seconds. Along with movements on the ball, and off speed and breaking balls, hitting a baseball is extremely hard. Try to hit a 87 mph slider with multiple inches of break from 60 feet.
Baseball's day-to-day schedule is the appeal of the sport. A new game every day. For many North Americans, it represents summer, little or no pressing responsibilities, and day out with friends at the ballpark. Think of it as social media long before the internet existed. That the season begins in Spring and ends in Autumn creates strong and vivid emotions and passion for the game.
I live in england, and I was brought up to love playing football, or as americans would say soccer, I eventually grew outta love with it and found basketball and ever since I've never looked back. Basketball is pretty simple to pick up and play like football, get a ball although you do need one hoop. Baseball you need bases, a ball, a bat, mitts, and etc.
Even in the US, baseball is gradually loosing popularity compared to American football and basketball. Mostly it’s our older generations that keep viewership during the regular season

You missed a really important fact. I'm from Europe, apart from the European stars that play/ed in NBA, a huge reason that we watch it here is because there's basketball courts everywhere, we play ball in school, but I have never seen a baseball bat in my life.
What country do you live in, in Europe? I'm just curious cause I know how Eastern Europe get down, we got love for them over here in America, cause they always produced hoopers, but aside from France, Spain, and maybe Italy Western Europe not so much. If you've watched some TNT broadcasts multiple retired NBA players who now commentate even joke about how "if your name ends with -ic, you can play" cause of how prolific Eastern European hoopers are.
The problem baseball has is if you didn't grow up playing the game, you're most likely not going to be a fan later in life. I love and play both, but I prefer baseball. It really is the ultimate team sport while still highlighting pure individual talent., Trout is genuinely one of the best to ever do it, but stars don't really win in baseball, u need a stacked team, bullpen, rotation. It's hard to market that, whereas in the NBA if you have a few good players ur team will always be pretty decent.
Cricket reinvented itself at just the right time with twenty twenty format. The game was reduced to 3 hours from 5 days. IPL (Indian Premier league) 's brodcast deal with Star which is now part of disney was for 2.5 billion for five years. With a per game cost higher than the nba with abt 8 million.
Try going to a game with some of your friends or try rooting for a team. It’s a lot easier to get invested into something if you are physically there and you have some attachment to what you are watching
You could make a similar-ish video about the NHL's inability to adapt and grow hockey. They have a game that with better officiating and marketing could rival basketball due to its pace of play, and definitely should be challenging baseball more. Hockey fans routinely refer to the situation as "best sport, worst league". I bet that you could find numbers to back that up and make an interesting video.
As a Canadian, hockey is simply too expensive for it to get to the level of basketball or football (soccer). People like to identify with sports that they played as a kid and most kids don't get the chance to play. I will say that those who've I've managed to get into the sport by taking them to live games and explaining the rules really enjoyed it and a lot are still fans today

One thing I love about baseball is that there is no clock. You are never out of the game until it’s over. There are points in basketball where there is no way of coming back and makes the end of the game just waiting until the clock hits 0.
I guess but like that’s why games go on for so long. Most blowouts happen when a bad team is against a great one. It’s also pretty cool to see a game winning or tying buzzer-beater at the end of the game.
@@lawly9776 speaking of end of the game moments like in baseball moments like these are get a dinger and go home. Only defense the defense has against this is the pitching throwing the ball good. That’s it. In basketball. Someone brings the ball up they have to find a way to score to win the game. The defense has a chance to steal, play lock down defense so the offense takes a bad shot or loses the ball, block a shot, etc. So I’m baseball the defenses game and fate is in chance. Unlike basketball. That’s just a small thing that I hate about baseball
Perhaps, but unless the game is a blowout and you literally have to wait about 18 minutes for the game to be over even though the outcome is already decided, the wait is only about 2 minutes, give or take.
As a European that grew up on Football and is now an NBA fan, I totally see the point about baseball being a game for doing something else in the meantime. I was lucky enough to attend a Yankee game a couple years ago and it was a completely different vibe! To this day I dont 100% understand the rules, but I had fun back then because it was a great atmosphere. It's just that European sports fans are usually looking for something else entirely, something that football and the NBA has.
I'll be honest, I love baseball with everything I have, but I honestly can't watch a game unless its the playoffs. Baseball is fun to play but it gets boring to watch.
I would be very much interested on your take on esports, given that it has very high viewership , and several PC games actually have solid lineup of tournaments in domestic and international scenes.
The biggest thing holding back esports is the vogue game frequently changes.Basketball and football are basically the same game over a hundred years, with the occasional balance patch that might introduce new elements to the game. Esports went from StarCraft to DOTA to Fortnite.
I'm a guy who enjoys all team based sports. Nice video! I think you could had also added some things about Baseball such as other competitions like the Caribbean Series, other leagues outside North America like the KBO in South Korea and the NBP in Japan and (In my opinion) how having "Unwritten rules" is affecting baseball in a negative way.
and trust me, NPB's unwritten rules, closely knitted to Japanese military tradition, initially killed KBO at its beginning. but nowadays KBO is a league with unwavering swagger.
The late David Stern and Michael Jordan played major roles in helping the NBA become global. Also basketball is much more attractive to watch compared to baseball. From the fashion, to the dunks, to crossovers, to the all star dunk contest and to the flair of watching people like Allen Iverson, Kyrie, curry, KD .etc ..makes it very attractive to watch ....and it was also not common to see tall and big men playing in one sport back in the day. It was refreshing to see huge people like shaq and Yao Ming competing against each other. I mean who wouldn't want watch a sport that has some of the world's tallest men playing.....
5:46 Unrelated: the NBA teams might have the best logos (as a league) in sports. So cohesive, expressive, instantly-recognizable and legible, and they reflect the attitude and passion that the game and its players often exude. And each team has its own distinct character within that shared design ethos. Just fantastic. 👌👌
Baseball has more classic and recognize able logos than any nba team i.e. yankees, dodgers, red sox, cardinals, giants, athletics, mets, braves etc etc
@@Floww23 I would say they're more understated, yes, and "classic" is relative: are they old? Sure. But do they visually represent what a team _is_ ? I'm not so sure. Also, just like legacy leagues like top tier European soccer leagues, the color palettes are often very similar and restricted (MLB uses plenty of red, white, and blue, predictably; lots of red white and blue in Premiere league as well-again predictably; lots of red, yellow, and black in the Bundesliga in Germany. As you can tell, the trend is country flags). The NBA's "shape catalogue," let's call it, is fairly consistent, with sharp lines, boldness to edges, simple shapes, but the color palette across the league is far more expansive. I honestly think it's the gold standard for a family of logos in a shared space.
Bro the amount of Europeans I've seen wear yankee, dodgers, red sox, pirates hats is actually crazy. I've even seen people where a Ray's hat which is a small market team. Not saying they know what team they represent but they defo can recognize them.
@Kent Anderson lmfao not true. With basketball you can practice or enjoy playing it by yourself along with soccer. With baseball you pretty much need someone else throwing the ball to you unless if you get a stand to place the ball and hit it
For me, as a spanish, what makes european football or basketball more exciting than baseball or american football is the pace. In fact, what makes me not watch NBA lots of nights or quit the game are the continuous time outs in the fourth Q quarter. But the game itself can be pretty fast and it stops if there is a foul, what usually means easy points in basketball and can mean a dangerous play in european football, so at least the stops mean something. But both in american football and baseball the game is literally meant to stop after every play. The only sport I can enjoy sometimes even with its stops is tennis. But sport is also quite cultural. Probably not many US kids would play and watch american football if their parents had 'taught' them about the sport by watching it, and probably the same happens with european football in other places.
Baseball struggles to market their own players because they're too caught up in their old ways and refuse to adapt to modern times. Any time a players does anything to attract the younger audience, the older players and coaches will shame them. Fernando Tatis Jr, one of the most exciting young players today, was shamed by his manager and other players for hitting a grand slam HR in a game they already considered "unwinnable for the other team". He had to apologize and it was ridiculous. It's moments like this why younger fans won't watch.
Football is the most famous sport because is the most simple. Obviously, the top teams play with super smart tactics, but we still always understand the games, we always know when someone plays really well or really bad. Football can easily become part of your life, to play it you literally only need a ball (sometimes not even a ball), I remember me and my friends playing improvised football in the streets of Brazil. I feel like it's very similar with Basketball, it can definitely become a lifestyle, you always know when a team or player is doing well even if you don't know much about the sport, it is very exciting and the players usually show off crazy skills during the games, I love watching NBA highlights.
Yeah that's about the gist of it. It's more highlight worthy than baseball- both sports are, on top of that unlike baseball you don't need a lot to play them just a ball, and some sort of goal, most people don't do it anymore in America cause hoops are everywhere but back in the day when they weren't so plentiful people would nail crates to walls for the goal.
As a man living in ASIA. Let me educate u americans. Baseball,Golf American Handball(football they said in america) are considered rich sports. While basketball you can play barefooted all you need is a ball and a hole and you good to go and also you can play halfcourt or full court. Now you have been EDUCATED
Or this can be summed up like this: - Baseball plays too many games, thus losing the appeal of “important” games. You can literally lose 70 times and make the playoffs. - the games are slower than NFL games, by twofold. Thus becoming boring and losing interest quickly - The game is not as big internationally - There isn’t as many exciting moments - Cheating is extremely prevalent in the game.
A "point" in baseball is scored a "run" (same in cricket). Basketball games can last up to 2.5 to 3 hours too, due to all the time-outs and stoppages in play. Sometimes, in fact many times, a very long baseball game (extra innings) can actually be thrilling and full of suspense precisely because it's gone to extra innings. Tailgating is associated more with the NFL than Major League Baseball and other top North American sports leagues. Intrinsically, you can't prove that basketball is a better game than baseball or vise versa. And baseball is VERY popular in some countries outside the US: in many Latin or Caribbean countries, and some Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea. But YES, the NBA is really tops in marketing. It's part of their tremendous success.
They also forgot theh you could literally practice basketball alone. Most team sports (like Baseball and American football) doesn't have this luxury. In basketball, all you need is a ball and you could improve your game.

Great video, something you haven’t accounted for is that a lot of these rules in baseball have been around for over a century and games in the early 1900s could still be recognizable. Although there are a lot rules, they never change
I think baseball has the least complicated rules in sports. Particularly when it comes to fouls. basketball has the most complicated foul system I’ve ever seen. In fact, every time I try to play the game arguments galore. Hence the reason why there is more baseball movies then basketball movies.
Respectfully, not to jump down your throat or come of as angry, but it's not "how gangsta's" speak, it's called AAVE (African American Vernacular English). It used to be called Ebonics alongside AAVE, but then that word got denigrated and mocked by many people who wished to look down their nose at the primarily lower class and urban black folks in America. It's just a dialect of English that some people primarily, but not only, black and latino folks, grew up speaking primarily in cities here in America. Gangsta's just speak like that cause most of these gangs are from these cities.
I finally got into baseball a couple years ago and I’ll say it is more complicated than I thought. It’s not as exciting other sports though. But it’s fun enough I think. Games like basketball soccer and hockey are like nonstop action so I get why people like those more.
Baseball is making a comeback with Ohtani and the WBC. But a persistent problem is the excessive amount of games. I think the regular season should be cut to around 60 games. Like what happened in the COVID season. Less games make the season easy to follow and each match more meaningful.

I've watched so much basketball in my life and when played well it is a joy to see fine passing interchanges and crisp shooting. That said, I haven't watched NBA in over twenty years preferring my beloved UK basketball. Call me bias, I feel like it means more and runs deeper in our history with titles over the decades and an obsession with records.
This is a good video that makes a lot of good points, especially the bits about basketball superstars apparel and ease of access, but there are some things that could use a little clarification. First, baseball may have less of an international presence than basketball, but it is out there and very strong. Countries like Japan, South Korea, and the Dominican Republic are countries with great baseball leagues and strong interest in the game. Hell, there's a bill in the United States Congress called the Baseball Diplomacy Act that allows Cuban players to maintain their citizenship when they come to play baseball in the United States, which is fantastic when you consider that the U.S has imposed an embargo on Cuban businesses for decades. This has led to a fair number of very good international players coming to the MLB and becoming incredibly famous. Names like Yoenis Cespedes, Sammy Sosa, Ichiro Suzuki, and Hideki Matsui might not be as big as LeBron or Jordan, but they are very well known and beloved names in baseball. Again, not trying to drag this video down, just offering some additional information.
“incorrectly call it the world series” you can try to beat the dodgers in a seven game series of baseball, but you wont unless you have an mlb budget and roster. no team in japan would come close to the talent on a contending mlb team.
fun fact: the world series is called the world series because of a sponsorship with a newspaper called "the new York world telegram news paper". now obviously, the "new York world telegram series" is not the best of names, so they shortened it to the world series. eventually, when the sponsorship ended, they felt that the world series was a good name, so they kept it.
People like timed sports because it raises the stakes, makes the action more frantic, and gives you a clue when the game is going to be over. Nobody wants to sit forever and watch a game.

Next video: why is football/soccer not so popular in the US (yet)
Very true
The one thing that was not very accurate is that baseball does have many international players. Lots of players and even star players in the MLB are from the Dominican Republic for example. There are many players from Cuba, Japan, Venezuela, and more. It is true that it has not reached big markets like China and Europe though.
It does for the Netherlands through the Netherlands Antilles. Maybe the same goes for French, but don't know about that.
Dominican Republic doesn't have a economy as big as China , Germany, Serbia , Spain though and from these mentioned countries basketball players come.
I was thinking the same thing. Lots of international talent in baseball, just not from Europe, or English speaking countries. Although it can't be argued that basketball doesn't have bigger international stars.
That’s what I was about to write. Latinos are very common kn the league
They have players. Just not household name level stars
Some topics I think would make interesting content:
* The recent expansion in the NHL with the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken
* Sports arenas purpose construction and their impact on the cities, particularly in regard to one-time events like a FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euros or the Olympics
* Pros and cons about "import" restrictions in sports leagues, e.g. a lot of sports league in nations only allow a team to have a set amount of foreign players
* Professional wrestling, particularly in regard to WWE finally having a domestic competitor in AEW in the U.S.
* Systems of relegation vs. a closed competition league, e.g. the swiss top hockey league is currently trying to go remove relegation and become a closed system
* Sports as a subject for another kind of media, e.g. what does it take to make a sports movie and how do you procure the rights for teams and the ability to film in stadiums, etc.
Yeah brother pro wrrrrestling
The "Sports arenas topic" would be very interesting. I would like to know that as well.
Relegation vs closed competition is also interesting. Especially because you brought a Swiss example.
Some nice ideas there. I'd like to add that in rugby some nations only allow players on their national teams when they play domestically. And interestingly the German ice hockey league is considering to open up to relegation again.

for me it's the simplicity and quick action that makes basketball one of my favourite sports to watch
Watch European sport you will like it.
I honestly just got into baseball and it’s actually very interesting it’s hard not to like something after being educated on it
True bro,the game is very interesting if you understand it in depth.
Except chemistry. I’ve been forced to take chemistry classes in college and I definitely don’t like chemistry still after being educated on it

It's just that European sports fans are usually looking for something else entirely, something that football and the NBA has.
I'll be honest, I love baseball with everything I have, but I honestly can't watch a game unless its the playoffs. Baseball is fun to play but it gets boring to watch.
Great content! Kudos to the whole team behind these awesome videos!
I would be very much interested on your take on esports, given that it has very high viewership , and several PC games actually have solid lineup of tournaments in domestic and international scenes.
About that. I am gonna have a great first half of the year lol. Superbowl, SI 2020 (esports) and the UCL knockout round.

2:44 Spot on. For some reason, when I watch Baseball on the TV, I immediately want to clean my room. I dont know why, but I like it 😂
The late David Stern and Michael Jordan played major roles in helping the NBA become global. I mean who wouldn't want watch a sport that has some of the world's tallest men playing.....
thanks for the quality content here. Well, but I have point out that Taiwan is not a part of China's map.

Nobody knows wtf are those logos 🤣🤣 real football easily has the most recognizable logos 😑
Bro the amount of Europeans I've seen wear yankee, dodgers, red sox, pirates hats is actually crazy. I've even seen people where a Ray's hat which is a small market team. Not saying they know what team they represent but they defo can recognize them.
I love American Football, Baseball, and Basketball. I'm starting to get into football or soccer as my fellow Americans call it.

It’s more entertaining to watch for the average viewer, that’s why
@Kent Anderson lmfao not true. With basketball you can practice or enjoy playing it by yourself along with soccer. With baseball you pretty much need someone else throwing the ball to you unless if you get a stand to place the ball and hit it
@Kent Anderson well true I guess
@@inosurrender8327 not really, one of the ways I got really good was just by throwing a ball against a wall, and fielding the ball afterwards
Basketball is boring asf lol
@@bravokinhead6077 your opinion is strange to me
For me, as a spanish, what makes european football or basketball more exciting than baseball or american football is the pace. In fact, what makes me not watch NBA lots of nights or quit the game are the continuous time outs in the fourth Q
quarter.
It's more highlight worthy than baseball- both sports are, on top of that unlike baseball you don't need a lot to play them just a ball, and some sort of goal, most people don't do it anymore in America cause hoops are everywhere but back in the day when they weren't so plentiful people would nail crates to walls for the goal.
keep up the good work
As a man living in ASIA. Let me educate u americans. Baseball,Golf American Handball(football they said in america) are considered rich sports. While basketball you can play barefooted all you need is a ball and a hole and you good to go and also you can play halfcourt or full court. Now you have been EDUCATED
Or this can be summed up like this:
- Baseball plays too many games, thus losing the appeal of “important” games. You can literally lose 70 times and make the playoffs.
- the games are slower than NFL games, by twofold. Thus becoming boring and losing interest quickly
- The game is not as big internationally
- There isn’t as many exciting moments
- Cheating is extremely prevalent in the game.

This is quality content. I love baseball, but it is hard to argue against anything in this video.
I think baseball has the least complicated rules in sports. Particularly when it comes to fouls. basketball has the most complicated foul system I’ve ever seen. In fact, every time I try to play the game arguments galore. Hence the reason why there is more baseball movies then basketball movies.
basketball players market themselves a lot more, maybe then any other sport
Trust me, Nba is freaking successful
All of kids in my country who are hooping, 80% of them speaking like a gangsta
Respectfully, not to jump down your throat or come of as angry, but it's not "how gangsta's" speak, it's called AAVE (African American Vernacular English). It used to be called Ebonics alongside AAVE, but then that word got denigrated and mocked by many people who wished to look down their nose at the primarily lower class and urban black folks in America. It's just a dialect of English that some people primarily, but not only, black and latino folks, grew up speaking primarily in cities here in America. Gangsta's just speak like that cause most of these gangs are from these cities.
In my country many boys make their hair nappy because they think they're black 😂

-Basketball game run for :: 48 minute
-Baseball approx :: 3-5 hours
Me a test Cricket fan ::
But most of time basketball games also take around 2 hours, since there are tons of free throws and timeouts in a game
Baseball games do not take 5 hours they usually about 3:15 but sometimes can be close to 2 hours.
The UK plays basketball?
MLB also have many foreign players but it didn't help the league to match the NBA's global popularity
basketball can be played by 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 ,4v4, 5v5, etc.., sometimes even playing odd numbers like 2v3, can baseball be played by 1v1?
Yes, pitcher vs batter is 1v1
Yes, Pitcher and Batter
It's interesting that NBA basketball is growing in popularity all over the world, but the WNBA has still never had a profitable season, and still must rely on subsidies from the NBA.
Baseball doesn’t need to be expensive to play, look what they do in the Caribbean. They have barely anything but still produce some of the best players in the world.
Because the world does not care about baseball just the Caribbean
@@cesarinho22584 So based on your logic, then the world does not care about cricket just the South Asia
Baseball is a small small sport world wide, but it does have some popularity in certain countries though
Baseball is popular in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. They don't need filthy Chicom money.
@@michaelpeng9993 cricket is played in bigger economic countries like India, England, Australia, etc. Same with basketball like China and Europe but baseball is played in small island nations of Caribbean whose economy mainly runs from tourist beaches.

Basketball is dynamic and fun to watch, the basketball players themselves are relatable and are accessible, baseball though has too many eccentric star players, and you cant really market someone who's crazy to kids.

The only reason I watch baseball is to watch my hometeam, the St. Louis Cardinals. I love basketball, but sadly I have no hometeam. Regardless, it's so satisfying to watch basketball. Your able to see people fly for christ sake
Hey man just know you don’t need to be a home team fan to be a super fan of a team. I’m a super fan of the Celtics and I live in Baltimore.
Outside of Central America, Japan and South Korea, baseball and baseball infrastructure just doesn’t exist,
Basketball is popular worldwide, it’s the second sport in Southern Europe and maintains popularity for most of the world
Especially among young people and kids, I reckon Steph curry is far more well known than Tom Brady, at least among the people I know but also you just generally see people playing basketball, I don’t think I’ve even ever seen a baseball or American football ball in person.
As a Cricket Fan , I'll have to support its distinct Cousin Baseball here just for the sake of being a Bat & Ball Sport even though Cricket is far superior . 😉
I also think the super star mentality comes with that in basketball it is more likely to carry your team with only 2 or 3 players, there are a lot more pieces to consider in baseball
