How to play Against the Storm Step 1 - Start a game Step 2 - Everyone starts yelling at you. The villagers. The chat. The comments section. Even yourself. Step 3 - Finish whatever train wreck you started by some miracle. Repeat till sleepy.
The gameplay design of AtS is amazing. Never in my life have I played or seen a game - or any experience, really - that can be simultaneously so relaxing and so stressful.

@@Baddaby For reference, picking your blueprints before you open your first glade is like selecting extra SMG rounds in a schüte game without knowing whether you’re going to get a rifle, a pistol, a shotgun, or an SMG when you spawn.
Personally i prefer to select them immediately and aim for buildings that can craft construction parts like lumber, or fuel like coal. A much more stable and secure start regardless of nodes.
I'M SO GLAD ATS IS BACK. I was really sad that he stopped playing it on stream, probably the most excited I've been to see a video in my notifications in awhile.
So I don't know if it was mentioned but the fishing huts work slightly differently from other resource camps - they stockpile the gathered resources until the node is depleted at which point they actually become usable (it's possible to stop gathering early but that destroys the node).
Brave of Vinny to start on prestige 5 after not playing for so long. With all the updates and stuff, I'd be starting on tutorial mode lol. I got super into this last year and I'm legit afraid to play it again because I couldn't even wrap my head around it a year ago.
Funny to see that even months later Vinny still has the same issue of giving all his fuel to the guys making purging fire then having none for the Hearth and then getting non-stop alerts of being low on fuel while having 100 purging fires in stock 🤭
It doesn't really matter, since I assume you can just move it anytime. But the decoration placement kind of bugs me hah. Well it's nothing so serious. Fun to see this return.
against the storm is one of the rare games i had to make myself stop playing even though i was still loving it after 110h. the game is just so damn fun but i had other games piling up.
i played this since it's on Game Pass and while i was initially very positive about it, the game becomes increasingly dull in a way that i didn't realize until i lost a run because i was so bored that i was running on autopilot and didn't respond properly to new stimuli. it's just so large and takes so long to get anything done, and i have to do the same steps in building a new town, and something as simple as picking the wrong blueprint will make everything take even longer to do.

Play on Viceroy difficulty, no reason to punish yourself on prestige while you learn the new stuff! Glad we are back :)
