Let’s be very clear, shes been singing this way her entire life! For some individual it doesn’t take years to develop. Granted of course there was growth but there are videos of her when she’s a child and she’s is still phenomenal!
I noticed this too. there are a few reasons I think. right off, Jazmine Sullivan is beyond incredible and mind blowing. there's just so much here. otherwise. one, I was completely new to this music and the absurdly high skill in techniques that aren't taught/discouraged in classical singing. two, I was also riding waves of exhaustion/mania due to my brutal work at the time. Three, this wasn't my primary source of income so I could be more frivolous. I'm responding with this more for myself 😅. I don't think it'd be hard to find this level of enjoyment again. I just need to take the pressure off myself and enjoy the ride. I want to be a "great" teacher, singer, and creator, but that pressure is counter productive. the best of the best I've ever met are focused and don't let their anxiety/pathology compromise their focus. So I'm definitely working on it and I'm blessed to be able to have the opportunity to figure this out.
Right, some people have a raspy voice naturally that makes it sound like they’re intentionally vocal frying. My voice type is just like hers, even in my speaking voice I have that rasp. I can make it sound smoother when I want but it generally is raspy, will sound like vocal fry on many notes. I know that’s her singing voice but the coach probably thinks she’s manipulating it to sound that way
You’re the second person that makes me really want to study Music Theory. I heard how brutal it is though but I want to so I can become a better artist.
You should totally do it. It’s a bit boring at first, but, when you get it, your mind and ears will never be the same. It opens you up to so many possibilities. Music is endless.
I just got off as well , and this was the perfect thing to relax too, your excitement for her skill and talent is infectious, I was smiling the entire time 😍😍
I haven't really gotten into this new Jasmine Sullivan but I love the old Jasmine. Where she sang the whole song not a lot of runs and tricks but actual singing. Try some of her old hits " Lions and Tigers and Bears ", " Need you bad ", " I'm in Love with another Man " Deepest tone on this one you'd enjoy, and " Forever Don't Last "oh and how could I forget " Let it Burn "
Listen to tragic by Jazmine Sullivan. Idk, I feel like I'm evolving *with* Jazmine. I just don't like on it because it had a gospel feel. But, sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. That song "on it" is a little too raunchy to have a gospel feel. I don't like Alicia keys anymore, though. Not her music. It sucks now. To me. That's my personal opinion. I like old Alicia and old Kanye.
She’s been doing “runs and tricks” her whole career. Her techniques have even improved. Her lyrical content has changed as she’s telling a specific story.
@@STARRiNGLOLiTA I know, it's just that in this song there didn't seem to be any body to the song it was basically " pick up your feelings " and then a bunch of runs and then at the end she came back and said " don't forget to pick up your pieces " I mean where's the song. I'm probably just too old to get with the vibe... I'm going to go listen to it on its own see if I get a different feeling... Okay the video was much better she did sing throughout the song...
@@LesageSinging Your reaction to vocal artworks are everything, and the level of detail in the commentary is just ✨PERFECT✨You never fail to impress with these videos.
I love her been a fan since day 1. If you want to also be amazed again listen too 1. Snarky puppy ft Lalah Hathaway- Something 2. Daryl Coley- When Sunday comes 3. Carlton Pearson ft Daryl Coley - In the arms of Jesus live Definitely last but not least 4. KeKe Wyatt - everything she sings live
You are an all around enthusiast. I'm not a fan of Jazmine but I know she has a strong fan base. Kudos for her. Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
I hate Kim Burrell (Jazmine definitely studied her), bc she in my opinion does too much when all I want her to do is sing a simple note. But she is dope and a true musician and should definitely be analyzed. Those who play instruments who study her to learn how accompany a skilled vocalist and steal her riffs and runs.
My city cut music programs when I was young. Continue to stop and analyze,by all means. I listen to artists more carefully now. I don't understand everything, but I appreciate more.
I need you to do Pj Morton and Darrel Walls "Everything's gonna be alright." ruclips.net/video/pp2mRJ6-Q9k/видео.html @ 36:30 is when the song starts.😌

Jazmine had the same voice since she was a child. THAT WOMAN IS PHENOMENAL
Agreed! Her background singers are top tier🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

@@LesageSinging you’re doing great! love your viewpoints & reactions😊
I've never seen you this excited and yes she's that good, her last album is one of my favorites, her voice is at peak
She literally does those, what you call a “vocal fry” on every song she sings..

You should totally do it. It’s a bit boring at first, but, when you get it, your mind and ears will never be the same. It opens you up to so many possibilities. Music is endless.
Fell in love all over again when I heard this live version 💖💖💖 edit: Thank you for giving her the flowers she sooooo deserves!!!
