    After a really difficult trimester at uni with assignments and stress, it is good to watch cloth diapers vidos over and over again just to relax.

    I'm having my baby next month so I decided to just buy newborn and one size diapers. I completed my stash and probably won't be buying anymore. I have 34 newborn diapers, including fitted, covers, flats, prefolds and of course aio. I have 54 one size diapers included all of the above that I mention. Let's just say I am out of a couple hundred dollars😂😂 I bought in bulk and all new diapers too. I am trying every system and hopefully they agree with my baby.

      Sounds like you have a really solid stash for both one size and newborn 😊
      The trial and error can be fun since it's a surprise but it can also suck sometimes. I'm the type of person who loves every diaper system. I can't choose which one I like best. Each has their perks so I keep them all lol.
      Hopefully you get good use out of your newborn stash! ❤ it's such a fun stage to diaper at... because once you hit solid poops.... 😂🤣 it's just not the same anymore lol.
      Congrats on your little one!! I hope you have a safe delivery ❤

    Thanks you SO much for this video!!! I am pregnant with boy/girl twins and they will be our firsts ☺️!! I am seriously considering cloth diapering, but know that the babies will probably be very small at birth. This video is something I desperately needed!!! SO informative and will definitely help me make my decisions on which route to go while they are newborn size!! Thank you!!

    Newborn cloth diapering was a bit of a challenge compared to how easy it got once baby was 2.5 months old and easier at 3 months and so on. Just the fact of keeping the elastics against babys skinny little legs. But still I enjoyed it and i would definately cloth diaper another newborn, again.

      I am so excited for you! 💚 It's such a fun stage of diapering because you don't have to spray poop. Gosh I look forward to not having to spraying poop again 😂 I'll be living vicariously through you as you cloth diaper him!

    • @nicolesmith-wilson6420
      @nicolesmith-wilson6420 6 лет назад +2

      Jay's Nest I’m not excited for the poop period this time. I didn’t realize I was super lucky with her only having 2-4 Unpoppable poops in the hole 2 years she was in diapers. Those were caused mostly from shots she had.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад +1

      I don't even know what ploppable poops are 😂🤣 we seriously never get them. Not sure if I want to cry or laugh about that. People talk about the "ploppable poop" phase and I figured we'd get there one day... nope lol.
      Scarlett wasn't even interested in solids until she was about 9 months. So we didn't have to spray for a long time with her. Fingers are crossed for ploppable poops this time!

    Hi!! So I would like to start cloth diapering, but I am feeling overwhelmed with so much information. There's so many to choose from. I was going to buy the Alba Baby ones, but after your review, I don't know what to get now 🤣. What kind of diapers would you suggest for a mom who wants to start doing this? Also, I'm not sure whether to get the newborn size as I feel like my baby would only fit in those for a couple of weeks or should I go for "one size fits all"... then again, every baby is different.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  5 лет назад +2

      There’s a lot to choose from. If you go searching for the perfect diaper then you’ll be confused and frustrated. There’s no such thing as a perfect diaper anyways.
      You just need something that fits properly and can absorb enough for your babies needs.
      Are you on a tight budget?
      Would you consider buying used?
      Ask yourself those questions.
      And sorry your reply to this might get buried in my notifications. With the giveaways I’ve beeb getting hundreds of comments per day and losing conversations!
      Post in a cloth diaper group and ask parents what OS diapers fit their baby and how old their baby was.
      I’m biased. I love newborn cloth 😉 which is why I have made countless videos about newborn cloth to ease people’s minds.
      You don’t have to do newborn cloth if you’re too overwhelmed.
      It all starts with your mindset though. I have a video about how to uncomplicate cloth diapering. If you click on my profile it’ll pop up on the main page. If you haven’t watched it then maybe it’ll help you out a little.
      Good luck!

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад

      Martha is so pretty! 🌸🌺 I'm a sucker for florals lol. I love Nicki's covers a lot. Very roomy for Hazel to still fit in, which is nice because most OS diapers no longer fit her . Not a fan of their OS AIOs or pockets. Their BAIO is sized weird and the inner feels like a rough towel. I don't like the design of their pockets. I feel like they could definitely do better with their AIOS.

    • @BeTheChange5276
      @BeTheChange5276 6 лет назад

      Jay's Nest I've tried NB and OS covers with my niece and I'm not sure if it was just a funny fit on her but I wasn't a fan. Pocket was okay but she was small and it was huge on her, she's just too teeny 😂 even at 2 years old. I had a BAIO and promptly sold it, I love rolled elastics but hated the terry, it was bulky and the elastics wouldn't stay ruled in 🤦🏼‍♀️ I may still get Martha in a pocket though 🤗 it's tempting for sure

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад +2

      I think the main problem with the covers is that they're so bulky and baggy. If I had a tiny tot then I definitely wouldn't like the OS cover. It's sized a lot bigger than most covers on the market which is both a pro and con. But it's hazels go-to since she has outgrown most things lol. I'd love to see Nicki's do a new take on their BAIO that doesn't involve a rough terry. Or a hemp AIO. I'm a sucker for hemp lol
      The front opening in the pocket is annoying to me. I really like having a front pul tummy panel on pocket diapers.

    HI! I wanted to know if you have a video where you talk about OS diapers that can be used in a newborn stage. I'm trying to build my stash only with OS diapers but want to know how soon i'll be able to use them when baby is born. Thanks for all your helpful videos!

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад

      It depends on how big your baby is. Also do you mind bulky diapers?
      I have a video from 2016 of OS diapers that fit under the cord at 7 lbs.
      Most OS don't start fitting until 10 lbs. it stops looking crazy bulky around 12-13lbs.
      If you have a big baby then you could do OS.
      I have a recent video about a newborn hack with a flip OS cover.
      I wouldn't use OS on a baby smaller than 8-8.5lbs. My baby was born at 6lbs and some newborn diapers barely fit her.
      Lalabye baby will fit a newborn 8ish+ lbs.
      Sunbaby size 1 will fit at 8ish+ lbs.
      Buttons OS cover will fit at about 8ish+ lbs.
      Bumgenius will fit at about 8ish+ lbs.
      Best bottoms will fit at about 8ish+lbs.
      Lighthousekids will fit at about 8ish+lbs
      I've heard soft bums works at 8lbs, I have no experience though.
      Mama Koala worked for us at 8.5lbs but my baby has huge chunky legs.
      Grovia shells work in the newborn-ish stage. Not for every baby though
      Thirsties size 1 cover & nickis newborn cover will easily fit until 18lbs. Might be good covers to consider because they'll fit a smaller baby.
      That's all I can think of off of the top of my head.
      These aren't guaranteed to fit your baby though. Babies are shaped differently so there's no saying what will actually work. Your baby might end up being tiny and not fitting into OS for 3 months... or your baby could be in them at 2 weeks old. It's really hard telling.
      Just remember all of these are HUGE on a newborn. lol

  • @YaYaPaBla
    @YaYaPaBla 4 года назад

    What’s a good amount to start with, I’ve bought about 4-6 newborn pocket diapers, 6 regular size pockets and 6 flats and a medium size storage bin full of flats and prefolds.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  4 года назад +2

      I think that minimally 15 could be a good starting point. I personally feel most comfortable at 36 changes for a newborn. My babies went through so many changes in the first few weeks (15diapers a day lol). Not every baby is like that though.
      If you’re comfortable with washing everyday then you could get by with 15-20, but it could be a tight squeeze with time. You’d also need to stay on top of diaper laundry.
      Have you considered using covers? Those would go perfectly with your flats and prefolds 😊

  • @christinaqueeno3874
    @christinaqueeno3874 4 года назад

    I practiced prefolds on teddy bears lol.
    Did cloth diapers before all in ones became a thing. They are cute but my jaw drops at the cost lol.
    If I were to do it again, the all in ones/fitted option would be good for the occasional sitter but I would order a stack of prefolds and enjoy the lovely non white cover options available now.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  4 года назад

      Honestly, all in ones are a bit overrated IMO. I have some because I’m doing reviews this year, but I keep a minimal amount of aios because I ended up with more issues than anything. I love a good flat and prefold. They are sturdy diapers 👏🏼

    Can you do a review on lil helper cloth diapers??

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  5 лет назад

      I did in 2015! Cloth Diaper Podcast just uploaded a recent review. I’m not really interested in trying it again to review (no offense to Mohammed. He’s extremely kind!). I reviewed the old style which was small. Its redesigned and bigger now. My daughter at the time, hazel, outgrew it quickly. She also became a super heavy wetter and started outwetting it. My current babies would be fine in it now. I gifted the diaper I had years ago so I no longer have one.
      It’s alright. Probably wouldn’t buy it again. The owner is awesome though! He has his own RUclips channel. He’s extremely kind and takes good care of his customers.

    I found 15 diapers was more than enough for both newborn and one size. If I was to do it again I would use either tshirt diapers for the newborn stage or just flats.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад

      That's great that you could make that number work. What did your stash look like? 15 flats?

    • @lanakranz9227
      @lanakranz9227 6 лет назад +3

      I had flats and what i called "pocket fitteds" that I made myself. These were diapers that I made as one size but could add all the absorbency I wanted and so I would pop in a microfibre towel that I bought for a whole dollar for 4 in the automotive section of the dollar store. Or I would use cotton trifolded. It isnt hard to make a diaper. Just scary the first time. I had 10 of these and 6 covers. To fit my newborn I made sure I used a short absorbency insert so I could fold the rise down and snappi it on. This made the diaper *really* trim. You could do this with any type of cloth. It was a perfect fit every time for both my kids even though they were differently shaped. I washed the diapers every day. They take minutes to dry because the absorbing parts come out. Once the babies were bigger. Around 10 pound I didn't need to fold the rise down so much and I started using some one size pocket diapers as well. And by 15 pounds I swapped out all 10 fitteds for 15 pockets. So I never had more than 15 in a stash. Though the fitteds would indeed have fitted til they were over a year old. But I gave them to my sister and she used them for her babies. And so the diapers that I made for $17 total.. have diapered 4 kids.. and she just gave them to a friend.. so now they're on their 5th kid. I was proud. But would still just go with tshirts for a newborn next time as they work fine and I wouldn't need to invest anything at all in them.

    • @lanakranz9227
      @lanakranz9227 6 лет назад +2

      Jay's Nest mind you my first baby had 70 diapers. I had no idea how many i needed and was always like "oh look a new print!" But by the second month I realized that I didn't need anywhere near so many and sold the rest of the diapers off asap. I had flats, prefolds, AIO, AI2.. and they got used occasionally but my go tos were always the same. The ones I made. So that was that. Being basically new I managed to get most of my money back for the more modern ones. And the flats I kept for burp cloths and emergencies. But the emergency never came either.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  6 лет назад +1

      That's amazing that you were able to make your own diapers for cheap! Making a stash doesn't have to be fancy at all. All of these modern diapers are nice but definitely not necessary at all. As fun as they can be to collect, at the end of the day they're just there to catch poop and pee lol.
      I think modern cloth diapering has come a long way but is also rooted in consumerism as there are always new prints coming out. Losing my whole stash made me realize that you really don't need much to get by with. Of course my hoarding tendencies have gone overboard with my newborn stash 😂

    If I didn’t cloth diaper my newborns, I would barely have any time cloth diapering 😩. My kids have all been potty trained fully by 14 months, and out of diapers at home by a year, so that would be a sad 9 months of diapering :( I love CD way too much for such tiny bits of time😉
