    I took the foil lid off a new Nespresso capsule and measured the thickness of the aluminium lid with my micrometer. It was 2 thousands of inch thick and ordinary kitchen foil measures 1/2 thousand of an inch so far to thin to work properly. The machine heats the water and forces the water through the capsule and coffee until it bursts the aluminium lid at pressure. So if the lid is too thin the pressure through the pod won’t be high enough and the coffee won’t be extracted as well. I found some aluminium oven bags I had that you use to cook chicken or meat in were the correct thickness and texture as the original Nespresso lids. As I am experimenting refilling capsules I didn’t want to spend any money buying lids but using what I had on hand.
    I refilled 9 capsules today but haven’t tried them in the machine yet but will report back. 🤗

    Thank you for the video! If the container was punched holes can you still use it like that or do you have to put some foil at bottom?

    Thanks all friends for your comments. these ready made foils are not found in Iran, and our bank cards are not Visa or other international cards, so I can't buy them online. There are original Nespresso capsules here, but I like to have my own coffee sometimes. A friend brought me Sealpod foils, which work perfect. But I have tried those refiillable plastic and metal capsules; none of them are good & they all ruin the coffee.
    With foil, the pressure comes to 19 bars first, then it is punctured & the coffee comes out. But with those refillable capsules, since they have wholes, the pressure doesn't get to that amount and the coffee is not that much good.

      You're welcome bro. Just be careful for the maximum two times usage of the capsules. Now in this Covid19 world it comes handy for some people. Maybe those who said nonsense think a bit & understand that sharing whatever you know becomes useful one day. Thanks for taking the time to write.🤗

    Thanks for the information however why not use Recap lids that you can buy on amazon? I reuse mine once after the first use and they are perfect with the Recaps because they stick well to the edges and they cost very little. I think it is about 7 bucks for 240 of them or so. Saves quite a bit

      Moon Shine hi. Thank you for watching. Dear Moon Shine, I live in Iran, and Iran is under USA banishments, so Amazon and such sites can't work with Iran; moreover, for the same reason our banks can't work with international credit companies and banks, so we have no Visa, Master,... card. Thus we can't pay unless that company has a representative in Iran, like Chinese companies which have, and we can pay with our Iranian bank cards. That's why any time I or a friend of mine go abroad, we buy Nespresso capsules & bring back. Someone brought me the lids when I asked, and I have 400 of them now, but I put this clip for those who haven't. Moreover, a stick of 10 Nespresso capsules costs 4 times the actual price here for the profits they take, and for the Dollar price which has doubled. I buy them. I can. But there are people who can't and still love the quality of Nespresso machines. I sometimes use my own coffee, too, because I love it.
      I hope I explained the situation completely. Thanks again.

    Hi @rezahar, thank you for your video; it's given me lots of ideas to explore. One point - what limits the re-usage of the capsules to only 2 or 3 times? Does the capsule get damaged at its narrowest end, by being punctured by the machine each time? If that is the case, have you tried marking the capsule with a line along its length, uppermost, so that you can always re-insert the capsule in the machine, so that the puncture holes always align perfectly with the original holes?

      cheezervvvvv
      hi! No! I have cut a circle the size of the cartridge whole, & I put it on the foil, cut the excess, and a circle the same size results. recently I tried the non toxic glue stick, just on the inside edge of the circle, and the result was excellent. I am on a journey to Paris. If anyone knows where I can find ready to use foil circles for nespresso, please tell me.

    which coffee did you used for making a single shot ??

    • @rezahar
      @rezahar  8 лет назад

      mohd khamis ,
      hi. I use the French brand Grand Mére, & you can use any one you like, but the grind must be for French brewing. Moka & smaller grinds may clog in the machine.
      If you want more foam (crema), you can mix your coffee with a coffee with more oil. The oil in the coffee becomes crema under pressure.

      bryar osman yes. absolutely right. but when you are a coffee lover & you want your own coffee in the pod, this is a good way. I pay twice the price of capsules in Paris, here in Tehran. I have tested all Nespresso types, but sometimes I want my own coffee, made by the Nespresso machine.
      I have tested all refillable capsule types, but none is as good as this method except Sealpod & those with foil covering. unfortunately foil pods are not in the market here, so I have to make them this way.

    ایرانی همیشه میدرخشد :دی فرمودید که کپسول های قابل شارژ چون سوراخ هستن فشار بالا نمیره و از کپسول اصلی استفاده میکنید. خب کپسول اصلی هم که یکبار سوراخ شده پس انتهاش سوراخه. منظورتون چی بوده؟ سوراخ های ابتدای کپسول که با فویل هست؟ مهم فشار بعد از فویله که زیاد بشه نه قبل از فویل. ممنون از ویدیوتون

    • @rezahar
      @rezahar  7 лет назад

      saeed rafiei ببین عزیز، وقتی فویل نو بدون سوراخ میذارید فشار تا ۱۹ بار بالا میره و همین موقعه که صدای سوراخ شدن فویل رو میشنوید و یکدفعه قهوه میاد بیرون از دستگاه. امتحان کنید، فویل رو ۴-۵ تا سوراخ کنید و بذارید، هم صدا نمیده و هم قهوه اون کرم یا کف که باید داشته باشه رو نمیده. امتحان کن به حرفم میرسی عزیز.

    • @saeedrafiei948
      @saeedrafiei948 7 лет назад +1

      ممنون از پاسختون. من هم به تازگی نسپرسو گرفتم و فقط از کپسول آماده استفاده کردم.
      خواستم بپرسم آیا روشی که لبه فویل رو دور کپسول خم میکنن مشکل خاصی نسبت به روش شما ایجاد میکنه؟ آیا در اون صورت نشتی بیشتر خواهد بود؟

    • @rezahar
      @rezahar  7 лет назад

      saeed rafiei
      سعید جان اون روش باعث کلفت شدن دور کپسول میشه و در سطل آشغالش میبینی که آب بیشتری جمع میشه و کرمای قهوه هم خوب در نمیاد. البته اگه خارج ایرانی هم کپسول نسپرسو ارزونه، نصف قیمت ایران، و هم فویل برش خورده آماده میتونی اینترنتی بگیری. خودش دورتا دورش چسب بی ضرر داره. کپسول رو پر میکنی، میچسبونی درش، میاندازی توی دستگاه. اسمش اینه
      Sealpod foil for Nespresso machines.
      اگه خارجی بگو لینکشو بدم. من قهوه آماده کپسولی دارم ولی اقلا روزی یکی دوتاش باید از قهوه خودم باشه. دوستش دارم.

      Leo Simons Thank you very much for your suggestion. That's your idea & I respect it as long as you respect mine. Thank you very much for your polite tongue & polite disagreement. Nowadays people just use dirty words when they do not agree with something.
      People buy a brand new cell phone, film how to break it into pieces or boil it in water, and put it on youtube. It certainly doesn't mean: Go break or boil your phone!
      And you sure do not brake yours, neither do you boil it; do you? It is up to you to decide what is right to do, and to learn or not learn some points in the video.

Thanks for your note, yes, that's right, and you can't always refìll & drink. But you can't also drink your own blend without refilling. And moka, french press, or electric french do not give you that coffee, also you need a big big kitchen to add a good spresso machine.
