For those wondering about the picture I showed to demonstrate the potential injury patterns that could have caused McGregors leg break. The image I used was more to describe some of the mechanisms of potential injury. As some had mentioned McGregors kick was checked by Porier earlier in the match and this was likely the moment in time he sustained the initial injury.

You showed the wrong picture about the leg kick check by Poirier. Poirier had checked Connor's left leg kick woth his right knee, whereas in the picture he is hitting Connor's right leg, which doesn't amount to checking a leg kick.

For sure I was just trying to explain the mechanism of potential injury. But your right, that was likely the trauma that did it! Thanks for the update

@@SonamMD Yello Sonam! Thabk you for your reply. I have trained Mixed Martial Arts in the past and I know how bad checking/blocking a leg kich woth your shin can hurt, it's like hitting a stone with your shin. I am sure Mcgregor felt that his left leg is compromised the moment his leg kick was checked by dustin with his knee and that is evident from yhe way Mcgregor's movement right after kicking Dustin's knee. He was avoiding putting weight on his left leg. Anyway I hope you and your loved one's are healthy and safe amidst this pandemic. Please stay safe and thank you for your analysis. You seem to be a brilliant doctor.

@@funksobravo1 I never liked those kicks for that reason. I’d rather go for an oblique kick or side kick like the ones Whittaker and Jones do. Higher landing rate, you don’t risk getting checked, and extremely effective in compromising the knee.

I know it involved surgery, but is the Michael venom page vs. Cyborg Santos something you can cover? It's when MVP caved Cyborg's skull in. Another one of those gnarliest MMA injuries.
Edit: Thanks for covering MMA btw. Love the content.

I think that mainly what happened during that fight was macgregor extensively using his left leg for kicks and most of the time even stepping back on it to take the pressure off of the right ( previously injured leg.) And as far as i could see poirier didn't once hit that leg at least to have anything to do with the injury. And stepping back on the weakened leg broke it like it was said in the video

I’m sure it was McGregor’s own kick that caused his injury. He was grappling right before and then threw a kick after Dustin let him up. It was probably cracking slowly as Conor’s kicks were repetitively being checked and then the last kick he threw right before he stepped on it was the one that comprised it to the point where his stepping on it would fracture it. Conor’s got gas left in his tank. Weidman should not return in my opinion but mcgregor will be back.....he just needs a better fight camp. Or to go back to featherweight. He was faster, leaner, oversized and had the longest reach. 145 mcgregor is completely different than any other mcgregor.

THAT WAS FAST. I just finished watching it yesterday and the one thing I learned was don’t go for leg kicks unless they’re karate style like John Jones or Stephen Thompson (if I ever end up in that situation of a street fight lol)

Could he half cracked it earlier and still moved around on it as he did during the fight?
