@@vincentchu7700 Like what? Start another lawsuit against Ivy League schools when the candidates have high grades, high SAT scores, more than sufficient extracurricular, and so on?
@Han Solo how about this? Stop chasing these top tier schools and put emphasis on quality study and education, networking, start ups etc. These ivy League schools will always have the power over Asians so the more you sue them, it only proves how much sought after they are for Asian students to still sue them for a chance to get in. Just stop giving them more value than they are worth. If you know you are a good student with good work ethic, you don't need ivy League schools to be successful. Prove to them you are the factor, not them
If you have a low SAT grade (I got a 1410) like me then the best way to increase your chances at a Top 20 school would be: -having various extracurriculars that you take part of and truly enjoyed - Take part in out of school internships - have some sort of job experience

Grades don’t make you smart, it proves that you are trying your hardest. But no matter how hard you try, families will always say you’re a failure. You’re gonna take that? No. Prove them who is the true failure. Prove them you are more hardworking. Tell them. Tell them that grades don’t define you. It defines how hardworking you are. Listen here, I can already see you guys trying your best, don’t do it for your parents. Do it for yourself
That makes sense because taking the SAT puts a lot of pressure on the person taking it, which might lead them to performing worse than someone who might be cooler under pressure. The reason the SAT score does not make up for low grades is because low grades could be a sign that the student does not work hard or turn in homework.
Lower grades are not ideal, but improving is more important, especially given the pandemic. Also get a good letter and a good essay and you’ll be fine.
I always get B or C and I proud of myself. Sometimes I get A, but it's rare and it's hard for me to get A. Maybe, I'm doing bad at school, but I'm really good at other things.

Well, I’m in my first year of college now. I’m working online from home. I genuinely do think it is LIGHTYEARS better than high school, I could not be happier that I managed to graduate. And I’d say I’m doing pretty well in my classes now. The only thing I’d say is tricky for me is keeping track of my classes and assignments since I have four classes but other than that, I’m doing pretty okay👍
For highly selective places like Yale, this is true, but this does NOT apply to most state schools. A high SAT or ACT will definitely help if you happen to have a GPA below average for a state school. I had like a 3.5 in high school and got into a school with an average of 3.8 because I had a 34 ACT 🤷🏼♂️ (also honors and ap classes help)

Why do they always make high grades look like "low" ones ??
I hate that, it makes me feel 😐😑
These are very low grades for Ivy League level
@@aman-qj5sx you make it sounds like it's an easy thing to just change a C to A* and as if that isn't a drastic change
It's very low, the C is dragging everything down, if the C doesn't exist or if you change it to B then it will be low, if you change it to an A it would be in the 20-25% percentile, low but now that low
@@vinatha09 For your school maybe? It probably depends on where you go to school and how strict the grading is there.
Thank you bro this totally made my day :)
It makes sense. SAT only really shows aptitude, while grades indicate actual long term commitment to your studies. If it were a one time thing the SAT would be more valuable, but it’s a few years if dedicated study that they need a track record for
@Elijah Oshatz sooooo... someone flunked out of kindergarten for their essay on tortoise and the hare, huh?
Could you do a video about middle school for bad grades?
middle school doesnt matter. as long as you improve by high school ur fine
College don’t give a crap about your middle school grades. They only care about your grades in high school (9th-12th grade)

If high test scores could wave off low grades, than why are tests the ones being made optional?
For the record, I still got accepted to a state school and a private school after failing four AP classes my first semester of senior year. While that experience absolutely rocked me, it also taught me how to come back from it and how screwed up the GPA system is. I got rejected from a bunch of school even though I still presented myself as a strong student, I just screwed up big time. But know your grades don’t define you even if it seems like they do while you’re in high school. Go to a state school and save your money then go prestigious for your masters and beyond.
Wrong, I still got into university with low grades and highish act
@ghoulisfire Yes
I think so too cause there’s more subjects and criteria in grades cause it’s like more general while SAT only focuses on some subjects like math and ela
POV your watching these videos while procrastinating on homework
You know who you are👀
i dont get any homework
A grade pretty much reflects your ability to study and learn stuff. So if you have a low grade it shows them that you don't care as much in those classes since you didn't put the effort to improve it
bro he calls As, Bs, and Cs low???
AND IM OVER HERE BEING CLOSE TO A D
That's because (GENERALLY) SAT requires alot of luck and school grades require alot of studying.
So you could be a try hard but you had bad luck on the SAT.
When I was in grade 5 my teacher NEVER read my work and just thought I would this dumb kid, she would always give me C’s and she never pay attention when I was presenting something. When my parents contacted her about my grades (my parents are teachers and they always read my work and stuff before I hand it in for common mistakes and stuff) the teacher blamed it on tHe ScHoOlS wAy Of GrAdInG sTuFf. Once she actually decided to read my work and she was like “tHiS iSnT yOuR lEvEl oF wOrK, yOu GoT sOmEoNe ElSe To Do It FoR yOu”. I hate this teacher

THIS DIDN’T HELP IM PANICKED HELP.
The fact that this showed up at the time it did is probably a sign
Could you do tips for middle school grades please?! I am really struggling 😭
They don’t look at middle school grades ?
middle school grades dont go on your permanent records so dont stress too bad over it. i did really bad in middle school but i was stressing really bad and i decided i wasnt going to let myself fail. care enough so that you dont fail amd get behind and also to prepare you to get good grades in highschool. im homeschooled btw but if you go to school you should take an extra class like study hall if your school offers it. most middle schools do.
And Asian Americans still get rejected for high grades and high SAT and bunch of extracurricular. Take that, Jun Young. You may be the valedictorian, captain of basketball team, founder of coding club, and speak three languages, but I'm getting into university and you're not.
Just try harder down the line then. We can’t blame everything on race especially if it’s a controversial issue
@@vincentchu7700 But it has been proven with Princeton research and the lawsuit against Harvard for discrimination against Asian Americans 🤷♂️
@@hunterkiller1440 so do something about it. if you cant, do something to get yourself in
@@vincentchu7700 Like what? Start another lawsuit against Ivy League schools when the candidates have high grades, high SAT scores, more than sufficient extracurricular, and so on?
@Han Solo how about this? Stop chasing these top tier schools and put emphasis on quality study and education, networking, start ups etc. These ivy League schools will always have the power over Asians so the more you sue them, it only proves how much sought after they are for Asian students to still sue them for a chance to get in.
Just stop giving them more value than they are worth. If you know you are a good student with good work ethic, you don't need ivy League schools to be successful. Prove to them you are the factor, not them
Can u please give us some tips for low exam grades? Im a big fan of u
If you have a low SAT grade (I got a 1410) like me then the best way to increase your chances at a Top 20 school would be:
-having various extracurriculars that you take part of and truly enjoyed
- Take part in out of school internships
- have some sort of job experience
Bro really called low grades A's and B's 😭
i will do ANYTHING to get grades like these bro
Ahh I’m glad stronger grades can compensate for a lower SAT score at least, I haven’t taken the SAT yet but I’ve got an insanely high GPA so at least I’ve got that to fall back on if I don’t get an amazing score
seeing my name on the sat score screen scared the bejesus out of me
I'm from another country and I'm realizing that the selection system in American universities is very flawed
A study has already proven that a standardised test score is a better predictor of how well you are going to do in college than your GPA
*"Everything in life is easier when you don't concern yourself with what other people are doing."*
The chances of you seeing this comment is pretty low, but if you did, *I hope you have an amazing day.* 🖤
how amazing from 1-10?

Damn my birthday was flashed in this video
I love the little paper animations! They look so good and are great transitions! As someone who likes making stuff like that, I wonder how long it took you though haha
Good thing I got all A’s throughout my highschool years so far
Is no one going to talk about the PERFECT LOOP or is it just me
Grades don’t make you smart, it proves that you are trying your hardest.
As a middld schooler i just wish there is a protest of cancelling school
Makes sense because sat is a logic test
SAT and ACT should be an option for those with lower gpa in a really competitive hs.
I was hoping in my last maths exam i will get about 95/100 but got 83/100, I was really disappointed
Unless it’s the naval academy
that’s yale tho. if you want another school you are probably fine. i had average grades i guess but a above average act and i got into school fine.
Bro is indirectly demonstrating Mahad
Sat is a matter of skill, grades are skill combined with effort and time. Colleges look for those things too
caring about education this much is crazy, follow your passions and don’t comply guys, a number on a paper doesn’t determine anything 💀
Makes sense cuz sat is just one thing you could get lucky but grades require doing Hw and studying
"Have Low Grades?" No, But my mom calls me a dissapointment.
I always get B or C and I proud of myself. Sometimes I get A, but it's rare and it's hard for me to get A. Maybe, I'm doing bad at school, but I'm really good at other things.
It’s probably because some people that are good in school suck at testing. You could know all the answers to a test but he one of those people that gets really nervous and second guesses themselves
Tf he started the video as a solution, and just ends with cold terror 😭
Idk why I keep seeing videos like this, I havent been able to properly go to school in like 2 years
You just destroyed my dreams. I've passed high school back in 2020 and my gpa is low. Now I don't have the chance
The same don't apply when applying to medical school so I'm good.
I know I'm late, but FYI: Those are not low grades by any means! He mentions universities like "Yale", which require you to be the best of the best in your class. Those are actually way above average, and could probably honestly land you in your high school honors.
High grades? well I guess I can go to college then lol
thanks
personally idk how happy everyone will be if they focus on being A+ student. Yeah, I sorta regret not getting perfect scores in high school and going to MIT, instead of my current uni. But would i really be happier at ivy league school?
Depends on the Ivy League and how you adapt to it, you could still be happy while being an A+ students, just make sure you have connections and people to rely on
The way I’ve finished 2 degrees and I still don’t scroll past this content
I got a C for the first time and it hurts i just want to disappear got sad and all but what i learned is that failure is okay because failure can teach you too and you'll learn from your failure, but its still on my head though :/
