    Just got an E1D delivered to me today and it’s just great - unbelievable value for money at £475 (UK) and plays graet straight out of the box … got it in the classic finish which I love … have a couple of Martins which I love dearly but this is great for the garden or chucking in the back of the car for trips away … very happy !

    You have hit on a key point and discovery of Eastman acoustic guitars is their resonance....just amazing sensitivity, amazing headroom, defined projection and musical tone! Really superb guitars costing well below their materials, design and craftsmanship....one reason Bourgeois has chosen them to build their Touchstone series. BTW the E1D with sapele/spruce has unbelievable resonance and is hugely loud! BTW...keep in mind these guitars are new, just wait for what a few months of playing will do!

    Recently bought the E10D and haven't looked back once!! Played the E20D same day, and the E10D just resonated more to me. Big difference between the 10 and my other go-to, a Taylor 314ce. And just what I was aiming for!

    All three sound great. Lots of bass and lots of clarity too. I think they sound as good as some of the Martins and Gibsons you've demoed. This was particularly interesting to me because I've played an Eastman dreadnought for over ten years. It sounded good when I bought it, but now, it's amazing. And it's the loudest acoustic guitar I've ever played.

    E1D is a killer guitar. I put a K&K pure mini in mine and I could not be happier. I hate to admit it, but it sounds better than my USA made dreadnought. I also love the satin finish. Just so practical.

      @Gregory Carpenter, @Cody Conrad,... The E1D sounds great to my ears, because I like the balance... That is the Sitka vs. Adirondack difference. Adirondack is like a knuckle sandwich, Sitka more like a nice hug from a beautiful girl, warm and comfy!

    I wonder what size strings were on these three guitars. All three were very big but not clear. Of course playing/hearing these is person is the best. But judging from many other videos these two wonderful guys have presented, I would not pick any of these three for Blue Grass single note picking.

  • @patricklundquist9869
    @patricklundquist9869 2 года назад

    Sympathetic resonance is why acoustic guitars always sound better when you try them out in a music store acoustic room. Eastman are so responsive that if your stomach gurgles the back will pick up and amplify it right out the sound hole. It's important to roll the right sleeve up or the buttons will clickety clack against the bridge. You need to roll the left sleeve up as well. For symmetry... Paul, you're right about needing one of each. This year I bought both an E10D-TC and E20D-TC with the plan of taking my time deciding which one I like most and selling the other. I am doing exceptionally well at taking my time.

    • @kamarienedwards1757

      Which one did ya keep?

    • @patricklundquist9869
      @patricklundquist9869 10 месяцев назад

      @@kamarienedwards1757 Thanks for asking. I kept the E10D-TC. I found that the mahogany sounded more woody and open. Also, I could play loudly or softly and it sounded great either way. The rosewood E20D-TC had so many overtones and resonance that, even though it sounded fantastic played softly or with a regular strum, play it hard and it tended to get muddy. Also, I have two other rosewood guitars, so it was a bit of a duplication. For stage work I would go with mahogany and for recording, it would be hard to beat the rosewood. If you go with the rosewood, clip-on tuners have trouble differentiating between the note you picked and resonance of other strings. It helps to mute whichever 5 strings you are not tuning.

    I particularly like the comparison at the end with smooth transitions between guitars and the models of the guitars shown onscreen! All three guitars sound good. This is interesting to me because on impulse, I bought an Eastman dreadnought about eight years ago, and I sold the guitar I had been playing. I've been very happy with it. It has an Adirondack top, and the sound is big and beautiful. Sounds good with both fingerpicking and flatpicking. I've never felt the need to have another acoustic guitar.

    Eastman make some terrific instruments but they still need to pay more attention to QC. I read all the good reviews and mail ordered an E20ss. Lots of issues with knots in the side wood and worse - they had polished through the lacquer on the back - an area about 3" x 4". Not good. Great dealer though, exchanged it without question and the replacement was perfect.
    I would say buy in person and play before you buy.

      If you listen on a hefty system bass on the Rosewood is bordering on overpowering. I’d struggle to sing with it due to the mids disappearing under the bass and treble.
