    I just want to say "Thank you" for letting us see that we are not the only ones that hit trees, let go too early or late and sometimes just get in our heads over a disc.

    I've been a casual player since the 90s. I played most of that time just carrying one disc, and always used competition on a round to decide if I wanted to swap out for something different. I've opened up my game to carrying a small bag of ~6 and found myself once again playing a couple of drivers head to head for a spot. As someone who only gets a couple of rounds a month, it feels like a much better use of my disc time than hanging out in a field. It's great to see this also works for people way more talented and dedicated than me!

    I totally appreciate your point of this video on trying to narrow your choices down and I don't want to derail the train. I can also see how your hard work has made some very possitive form changes stick. Congratulations on that.
    The biggest thing I see now is that I'd keep your hit point exactly where you worked so hard to put it. However I'd lower the peak of the 'reach out/extension' and alter the grip for a nose down release. Right now I'm seeing everything air bounce. I had the same thing going on. Once I started getting the nose angle better/more down, everything dove in to the ground short. Then I lowered the reach back and everything started working as I saw it in my head.

      heres some food for thought. i think mids are over used, i use putters up 250-280, this cut down mids to 2 in bag, 5 putters, find a good throwing putter at 4speed(lander is sick disc and game changer for me, and under £/$10), i realised and started using 7/8 speeds 250/300.. mid is for touchy 250/300s. 9s 350.. a mid is one speed of 13.. having more than 2 is dumb. stable and flippy , just in my opinion and ive only recently come to that idea.. but my approach is now strongest part of game.. try my brother.. tell a friend

I also, finally decided on my putter just wish I threw it the same every time. Just keep at it and keep pushing out positive energy, and things will fall in line.

    I like it. I rarely do a full round, but I’ll often throw 2 or 3 on the shots that call for them. I don’t want to take my 3 flippy fairways to a mostly hyzer course and pick the one that performed best on the types of holes where I would never use them.

    My whole issue with my bag is disc speed. I was carrying a beat in s-td and a beat in essence. They do the same thing but one is faster and I’m more confident with it but it won’t turn at a lower speed like the essence.

  • @BillFromAZ
    @BillFromAZ Год назад

    I take mine out to a field and throw them multiple times, both forehand and backhand. Sometimes I'll have two similar discs, but find one works better forehand, and the other works better backhand. Normally I do eliminate some discs. I just did this the other day with some of my 5 speeds.

  • @joshcarson7702

    Would probably make sense to have the overlap drivers but also have overlap midranges so you can get double the practice in one round since you won’t realistically throw drivers for upshots

  • @DeterPinklage
    @DeterPinklage Год назад

    This is cool. Might be better to just putt for fun/practice and count which one gets to c1 faster on average

  • @bobbybobman3073
    @bobbybobman3073 Год назад

    I have too many fairways, unfortunately I'm a weirdo who really enjoys throwing fairways on my approach shots, leaning on their higher speed requirements to force shots into late fading hyzers shapes for reliable lines. It comes at the risk of some more skips, and occasionally miss judging a shot and it just sailing off into never land. But that really only happens these days when the wind unexpectedly gets a hold of it. That being said I know that Robbie would say my bag has a ton of overlap. And frankly I don't know what I can make do without I feel like my fairways usually have clear roles, since they often take over the mid range and throwing putter role also for me.
    I love the feel of a driver in hand, it's miles more comfortable than any mid or putter I've found, and for me that translates to confidence I can make the shot. But I do keep mids on hand since you only really get hyzer shapes out of approach shots with a driver. And often you need a shot that isn't a hyzer.

    Hey Robbie!! I noticed that after every drive, you let out a big exhale, like you’re holding your breath through the motion of the drive. Is that on purpose? And if so, why?

  • @torymblue2000
    @torymblue2000 Год назад

    Hmmm, I don't put , nor really know how to put that much effort into my throw. Your breath, exhaust at the end of your shots, makes it seem that you are in fact putting a ton of effort into them (probably a good thing, vs me, wondering where all that effort is coming from and why am I missing it! :) Sounds like you are just coming off a heavy treadmill session or just finished a PB squat! :)

  • @caylinbrashear2741

    So, Robbie, I won a tumbleweed at a tourney, and i haven't thrown it, basically, at all. But I've heard it fills that Flippy roller position, not consistently the thrower. Wouldn't that give the disc a spot to consider?

    For what it's worth, that Core Blend Wild Honey is WAAAAAY more understable than the Steady. That said, disliking the hand-feel of a disc is a valid reason to stop using it. I hate the rim on the Buzzz, and I SUPER-hate the rim on the Roc.

    it seems we have similar arm speeds, and like same discs.. my secret weapon is DAEDALUS 160G GSTAR.. SUPER FLIPPY BUT GOES FAR!!! the max weights have more disc on underside so overstable, can shave off excess on ground if you get max weight and star plastic.. but one hell of a disc. if tree corridor and tree/obstacle direct in front of corridor at 300ft-350 , you shape shot around.. its nasty!

  • @kieronmckay4276
    @kieronmckay4276 Год назад

    A tip for overlap: don't focus on marketing and what the pros throw, or go to stores or websites and buy a million discs all the time. You're more likely to have overlap if you're constantly buying new discs, or wondering what this plastic does vs this one. Commit and just play with your discs for a while. If you feel a need later that you have a hole in your disc selection, then buy a new disc. I played with the same bag for 15 years and only had 5-7 discs.

    try a few discs in different plastics, or same plastics different weights, it will alter shape and flight no end..
    if only there was disc golf driving ranges where you can try 10 destroyers, 10 wraiths, 10 zeus's....either all the same or different weights or plastics, if you love a disc you can buy at end of practice, pay say $1 a disc for rental. $20 to buy. youll get some beat in.. i live alone so i just buy 10 at a time🤣, if i bag a disc, then field work is actually productive. you learn a disc in 1 practice..

    Robbie, disc selection is important, but not nearly is important as the art of the throw. You know that, which is why you have been working on your form so much. It’s the archer, not the arrow, that makes the kill.

    Hey brother just some friendly advice. I noticed that 100% of the time you are exhaling after the disk has already left and you've already spun through your follow through and then you exhale. Almost? Every physical activity should be coordinated with breath at the moment. Of greatest exertio So at the moment the disk is leaving your fingertips is when your exhale should be. I am a personal trainer high level martial artist as in grand mastered several sports and all of that holds true through every type of sport you play
