Those shoulder pads are optional. If you can't get a proper fit for your newborn with the shoulder pads on, just remove them.

I’ve just come back to this video as I have a question about the fit : I just changed the shoulder straps up to the 3rd/highest level because he seemed kind of tight in the seat. However, since making this change, I noticed there’s quite a gap in between the between the leg buckle and my baby (between his legs).
When I pull him down to have the buckle touching between the legs, the third level straps are above his shoulders. Did I get the fit wrong? Should I Be adjusting the straps when the red buckle apparatus is touching in between his legs?
I feel like maybe I was just trying to sit him up too much in the car seat
Not sure of his current measurements, but I would say he’s around 12 pounds and he was 23 inches about a month ago (he’s 3 months right now and small for his age at least weight wise)

You will want to wait to move the shoulder straps up till the child's shoulder reaches the next slot. The shoulder straps should stay at 1st slot till the babies shoulder reaches 2nd slot. Same with the 3rd highest slot, you should wait until the child's shoulder reaches the 3rd slot before moving it there.
If the child is sitting in the car seat and the shoulder straps are above their shoulder, they can slide up in the car seat. And for a 3 month old, you may still need it at level 1, Mayne level 2, if they are on the taller side.
what about the little pillows . side of head or on shoulders ?
Shoulder pads are optional. If you're using them they should be on the top of shoulders. Not on chest or stomach.
