Have been loving your channel and watching your vids for some time now. Much love from the UK, I’m 26 and would love to travel to Asia and see some of these amazing countries and sights and taste great food like you do before I’m 30. Korea looks like an amazing place to visit, very organised, very clean, very innovative and efficient, and I heard at 33 minute mark that little supermarkets play Tears for Fears music on the speakers which is my favourite band haha. I could happily live in SK.
I love how natural your tour videos are! Keen to observe and analyze cultural differences, embracing the vibes, not afraid to try out new things. Being curious to learn about the local lifestyle & interacting with locals... all in a very polite and calm manner! Many travel vloggers should take notes.
@@KenAbroad I personally also really appreciate that you dont feel the need to insert a montage every 3 minutes thats blasting way too loud royalty free music. So much more immersive to hear the city sounds. Sometimes less is more.
The yellow thing that you ate alongside the dumplings is called pickle radish. Seoul🇰🇷 it's a wonderful city I just came back from Seoul two months ago. I would love to go back there again ❤. Enjoy your time in korea Ken 😊

2013, Namsan, Seoul: Bought a 2-way cable car ticket, went up. Went to N-Seoul Tower ticket booth, paid, got ticket. Left cable car ticket and wallet at the ticket booth. Went up, spent an hour up there, realized I didn't have my wallet or my ticket. Panicked. Looked all over. Thought about it a bit. Retraced my steps. Hmm, let me go ask the lady at the ticket booth, 하지만... 한국어를 잘 못해요. Nervous. Didn't even need to ask, everything was just there where I left it. No one took it. Loved Korea forever.
Welcome to S. Korea! People know it’s morally wrong and unethical😅 In my school years in Korea in middle school, I had to learn ethics as a subject too 😆
Korea and china from what I know if people find something they will either try to return to you if they saw it was yours or they will leave it where they found it. In China it's the same and there's always the cameras.
I'm a Korean. I'm enjoying the video. In Korea, it is legal to wear military uniform! And the supermarket shown at 33:42 is a small supermarket in Korea. A large supermarket in Korea is about the size of IKEA. If you have time, I recommend going to Seoraksan Mountain. It's very beautiful and there's a cable car so you can easily hike up there. If you go to Seoraksan Mountain, I recommend visiting downtown Sokcho, which is 20 minutes away. Sokcho is a representative summer resort in Korea where you can see the clean sea. Do you like looking at the stars? If you like it, please see the stars at ‘Seoraksan Ulsan Rock Milky Way Point’. It is Korea's representative star observation site, and you can photograph the Milky Way along with Mt. Seorak with a camera. Have a nice trip! I'll comment again!!

33:46 The size is about average for a neighborhood supermarket. However, with so many convenience stores around and the convenience of same-day grocery delivery, it feels like you only find them in older neighborhoods now.
Singil Station, where your hotel is located, has a complicated train station. In Hamburg, Germany, it is the intersection of Yuban and Svan. Mainly the ground-based trains and underground units are complicated to get out of the basement because of train transfers.
Fun video, and you did a good job navigating for a 1st time visit! The metro card I think you returned at the subway was the T-money card. T-money card can be used for almost all forms of transport (taxis, subway, train, bus), and to pay for food/goods in convenience stores like GS25 for example.
Namdaemoon(south gate) is No.1 National treasure. Namdaemun Market is a traditional market that is hundreds of years old. It is old, not standardized, or has many imitations. There are many cheap things, many rare things, and if u r lucky, you can find treasures.
Even with so little English, they try so hard. Love that. These videos Ken are making me crave noodles or dumplings in delicious broth with fresh vegetables chili oil and kimchi. 😮
Markets are cool for visitors but I prefer going to the food court at the major department stores (Shinsegae, Hyundai, Lotte). A lot of food options to choose from and they usually have hypermarkets and dessert shops too. Korean cuisine is ever growing and changing unlike many other cuisines that prefer to stay in the orthodox or the "right" way, and it embraces everything from traditional to modern. It is also one of few cuisines that leaves not much waste. Every part of an entire animal is used from head to bones. The core of Korean cuisine is the seasonal wild vegetables & herbs (나물) and fermented sauces (장). If you want something really authentic, try out some of those restaurants that serve traditional course meals and temple food.
I can sense your sincerity when you visit the different countries and like how adventurous you are to trying new experiences. Love your authenticity! Safe travels and enjoy Asia!😃
Get a T-Money card. It's so convenient to have one. You can use it for transport (metro, bus, taxi, airport shuttle, etc.) and to pay for stuff. You can always refund the balance before you fly out.

Yes, that's a typical local neighborhood supermarket. Korea doesn't have discount grocery stores like Aldi or Lidl, but you can get the best deals for fruit and veg at local street markets.
1. There is a huge supermarket at Seoul station. 2. I highly suggest visiting the small Tongin market, you buy chips that allow you to buy at the various food stalls. At lunchtime, school children fill the place, lovely. 3. Make sure to take a walk along the old city wall: Either on the west, perhaps up Inwangsan Mt (339m) or in the east near Ihwa Mural village, North of Dongdaemun.
Yup its a small typhical local supermarket. And.. usually, PC rooms like that are often illegal gambling houses 😂 And I'll definitely recommend the War Memorial of Korea. It'll be interesting. You will never regret
You're so sweet! Going back to the uncle's store and buying something from him. I thought it was so funny for him to just rip the flag off the bag and sell it to you. You also ate an entire family's portion of pork neck (moksal) at the beach :) You're right that the PC signs are internet cafes. Korea has a huge online gaming culture so people would go there to game!
@@josephinejohnson9526 Casino business must be licensed, of course, the gambling hall you saw is tricky. If you go south to the Busan area, as a German yourself, you might want to visit "The German Village" (독일마을). It is located in the southern archipelago. Here you can get some German beer and also visit a small museum showing how Koreans used to go to Germany to work. The village is really like if you are in Germany. I hope you travel to Korea again in the future!😁
Hi, Seoul Station (4) at 09:29 simply reminds you of the name of the current station you're at. It probably says (4) in parentheses because it's specifically the Line 4 platform of Seoul Station. You refer to screens that hang from the ceiling to check the arrival time!
Having lived in korea for a while its actually quite rare for cars to stop at zebra crossings unless theres a red light. Japan is different, the cars will always stop even without a red light
28:45 I screen-grabbed onto Google Translate From left to right the words read as follows translated literally: Vegetable - Fruit - Well-being Discount Market - Fish - Meat - Grain
Enjoy all! My first experience with underground mall was in Taipei where one of the stores reminded me of a Walmart Superstore selling everything! Sunset---looks like a LOT of pollution! Nice vid, as usual.
Second...oneday fortress wall hiking ( beautiful panoramic views all the time..) starting point is 한성대입구 subway station (the 4 line) 6 exit, and from there go to the 성북 elementary school...that's a starting point of fortress wall hiking ^^ So early morning, Prepare water, sports shoes, food, sunblock cream ..go to the top of mt.백악산 ^^ you can see the real beauty of Seoul *^^* good luck ~
Hi Ken...you can easily use Google Translate from English/German to Korean or any language you prefer. Also, the camera function is very useful to read signs...that's my go to app to communicate just ensure you have internet connection. Enjoy!
Let me explain about Korean stores. Convenience stores (most stores, relatively expensive, but with lots of discount opportunities), supermarkets (market you've been to, relatively cheap and deliverable), hypermarkets (three to five in small cities, cheapest and most diverse products sold, mainly by large companies), department stores (literally department stores) in Korea. It's hard to find a store like DM/Rossman in Germany.

I would personally appreciate to get feedback myself about things that can be improved, so I hope you don’t take this in a bad way❤️ I love watching your vlogs! I hope you travel to Korea again in the future!😁
South Korea is amazing! We loved traveling there. Hope to visit again soon❤
Hi, Seoul Station (4) at 09:29 simply reminds you of the name of the current station you're at. It probably says (4) in parentheses because it's specifically the Line 4 platform of Seoul Station. You refer to screens that hang from the ceiling to check the arrival time!
Hi ken you are brave and adventurous, bravo bro 💪, if you visit penang island i will be your local guide 🤗
마트가서 아무생각없이 구매하다가.. ^^ 우리나라 상품가격을 이 영상에서 알게되네요.ㅋ
감사합니다. ^^ 구독하고 갑니다.
Having lived in korea for a while its actually quite rare for cars to stop at zebra crossings unless theres a red light. Japan is different, the cars will always stop even without a red light
Really amazing city. Thx for the video
1:42 헐? artbeat팀 같은데? artbeat는 한국 최고의 dancecover팀 입니다.

I screen-grabbed onto Google Translate
From left to right the words read as follows translated literally:
Vegetable - Fruit - Well-being Discount Market - Fish - Meat - Grain
I recommend Busan, Gangneung, Gyeongju, Jeonju, Jeju
The yellow fruit you saw is Korean melon. The fruit can only be eaten in Korea and is very sweet. I recommend you try it.
The yellow thing was pickled radish called daikon. We eat that in Hawaii also.🌺🤙🏽
Enjoy all! My first experience with underground mall was in Taipei where one of the stores reminded me of a Walmart Superstore selling everything! Sunset---looks like a LOT of pollution! Nice vid, as usual.
Nice Jersey there Ken, :-) , Germany V Scotland today (Friday, 14th /6/24) Euro Cup 2024. I do walking football as my exercise here in England.
As a Korean, I can say that's a very typical supermarket in Korea😊
Ken your video's are amazing 😍😊😊😊
thank you!😊
아! 만두는 국으로 드시면 더 맛이 좋아요^^
만두국 추천❤
과일은 배, 수박 최고👍
We just got back from Seoul. Recommend visiting Seoul Forest.
좋은 여행 되시길 바랍니다.
Thank you 😊
If you want a more typical supermarket experience, either go to E-Mart of Lotte Mart where they carry a lot more items.
Second...oneday fortress wall hiking ( beautiful panoramic views all the time..) starting point is 한성대입구 subway station (the 4 line) 6 exit, and from there go to the 성북 elementary school...that's a starting point of fortress wall hiking ^^
So early morning, Prepare water, sports shoes, food, sunblock cream ..go to the top of mt.백악산 ^^ you can see the real beauty of Seoul *^^* good luck ~
Food is not allowed on the subway or bus in Korea.
Coffee doesn't work either. 8:30
It's allowed on highway sightseeing buses.
