Very much agree with this review but not to 100% on usage for music. Why I am jumping in now? 1/ I have these for a month; 2/ these days they have pretty nice discounts and price got down than mid of 2021. These are marvelous headphones that deserve the price. I think 7200 has a bit better soundstage since vocals are a bit pulled back but the 5200 has the sound signature of the 9200 and are better value for me. The 5200 are very comfy, 5 min. after installing them on my head they fit perfect. Yes, the arch might be hard for a longer usage but I remedy that with additional protective pad with zip that I installed, also protecting the arch leather from wearing out. If you like deep clean bass and nice V-shape these are perfect. They are better than Eikon and Focal Radiance and only one at similar price range and price that match the 5200 are Sony Z7M2. Sony Z7M2 has slightly deeper sub-bass, are a bit more comfy (in fact they are best comfy headphones for me), but in general have a bit less music fidelity but even more fun. I find the 5200 closely matching the Fostex T60rp modded by Modhouse but the T60rp need far more to perform at best. 5200 has very well done sound staging and imaging that is closer to DT770 pro but fidelity is better. I run them balanced from Ares II and Burson Soloist 3XP and I enjoy them very much.
I have really liked your honest takes so far in your reviews, I had bought an MMX 300 without reading any and you were 100 percent right about treble spike when so many reviews don't mention it at all! Anyways I picked these up a while ago before seeing you reviewed them, and I actually love these. You are really tempting me to try and find a 7200, would you say the treble in those can be harsh?
In short, yes! D7200 has great vocals, not too forward, and most importantly not recessesd. I was looking for headphones that give HiFi sound and these do just that!
man, comfort sure is subjective isn't it? I found the 5200 super uncomfortable and found the material they used to be extremely off putting. as far as the mids, the 5200 is going to come off more pronounced if both are on stock pads, as the 7200 has a downward sloping signature, similar to the 650. if you switch to a perforated pad to turn down the bass, they are closer.

Another nice review. Thanks for sharing this.

is the denon headphones ah d5200 is design for dj use or it’s just for music listening
is it worth spending USD 250 more getting the AH-D7200 than the AH-D5200?

Yeah, 7200 is much better overall.
How does the sub base on the 7200 compare to the d2000?
contrary, all reviews I heard, in addition to my personal experiences, D5200s are much more comfortable than D7200. How about the mids of those two?

@@gamingaudioguide9292 do you mean that D7200 has better and less recessed mids using the stock pads?
