      Probably wouldn't pay $200 for it, but do like Pagarni watches to wear for work or getting my hands dirty. As you mentioned, there are other offerings to be had from San Martin and Seestern that offer more for less, but I've got to say, that dial and all it's detail is breathtaking. Great review.

    I’ve said this before but here I go again: Your videos have the best close up shots of all the watch reviewers that I follow. Somehow you make your lighting and photography skills work in a way that you make a simple watch look fantastic. Great job on your newer less minimalistic shots in IG, BTW.

    Great review 👍. The bracelet finishing would be bad at $60 and as you say the lume is always poor. I don't understand why Pagani are so popular, Steeldive are better for about the same price, Heimdallr and new brands like Thorn are much better for just a little more.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +2

      My thoughts exactly. I think Pagani is always one of the first to homage popular models, so they get a solid first mover advantage from that. Thanks for watching!

  • @adk7962
    @adk7962 9 месяцев назад +7

    Ok. First, the watch is already reduced to $160 or so. $200 was a bit of a reach. Second, I am always going to defend Pagani Design’s existence. Some people can only afford $75 watch so I’m glad they exist because for under $100, they offer some insane value. Thanks as always for your excellent review. And what’s with the no date on a GMT?

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +1

      I understand completely. I don’t mind their watches under $100. I think they’re decent but brands like Steeldive and Addiesdive offer better quality in that price range nowadays. They’re not bad watches by any means, but I’ve had less than ideal experiences with mine. I could just be super unlucky though!

  • @danspanos

    I totally agree with you Harvind, and thanks for being honest as always. I've never been a fan of Pagani and their questionable quality... Especially at these prices! I'll wait for anyone else to release one before I buy. I could have sworn Watchdives was working on one with San Martin. I wonder what happened with that?

    The Longines Spirit Zulu is my grail watch. When I finally decide to pull the trigger on a $3000 watch, it will be the Longines. I was excited to see an homage to the Spirit Zulu, but my excitement was short-lived when I saw it was a Pagani. I have several Paganis. The Omega Speedy homage is perfect. The rest are basically junk. This homage falls closer to the junk category because 1) the grip on the bezel is wrong (should be coin-edge) and 2) the bracelet is poor and the clasp is an abomination. If this homage to the Spirit Zulu was by Seestern or San Martin, I would already have one on the way. I might purchase the Pagani at 1/2 the going price, but maybe not. I'll just put that money towards the three grand I need for the original.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +1

      Their Speedy homage was one of my favourites. They really knocked it out of the park with that one. I don’t know if San Martin or Seestern have this in the pipeline, but I really hope they do! Until then, I’d put the money aside for the original Longines. It’s a fantastic watch.

    PD makes some beautiful watches for sure but the quality is questionable. But, they say that you get what you pay for. I purchased an Explorer 2 look alike and it it looked amazing. And it only worked for four days. Was I an exception? Perhaps, but I won't risk it again, not with the seller half a world away.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +2

      Some of their watches look incredible, no doubt. But I’ve received more Paganis with QC issues than any other Chinese brand, so that’s really put me off them. The competition is offering much better quality at these prices nowadays, while Pagani seems to be stagnating.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks man! I can’t fault the specs, but the execution just isn’t up to par compared to the competition. The San Martin BB Pro GMT was $150 during the last sale, and it’s just so much better in every way.

    Excellent video. Sad to hear that PD has not improved their quality. I have a soft spot for this brand as they got me back into the watch hobby. However, out of the three PD watches I bought, two had (severe) quality issues and the other one was mediocre. Had my hopes up for this one. Like others pointed out, I think PD is a player for the (sub)100 dollar price range.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +1

      It’s amazing that you got back into watches because of PD! Their QC process seems nonexistent, and your experiences with 3 of them just about confirms that.

    You nailed it - Pagani bracelets are utter rubbish. Every one I have handled has rough edges, sometimes links are sticky and don't articulate smoothly and Pagani just chucks on any old clasp they happen to have lying around. Typically I will take their bracelets off, put it back in the box and chuck it on the box drawer and wear it on NATOs

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  8 месяцев назад

      Exactly! As a bracelet guy, that’s a huge no-go for me.

  • @porscheoscar
    @porscheoscar 8 месяцев назад

    I have this in green for $150. The bracelet is crap for the price buf I don't care I use NATO and elastic paratrooper straps. But currently I use it on a green leather Hesmuth band with the rally holes and I added an Omega deployant clasp. It legit looks like a $1500-2000 watch.
    I originally ordered the blue version and it just doesn't have anywhere near the presence as green because the gold numerals really add a much higher quality appearance. Especially on the minute track finishing. It's nearly on par with Longines original in some aspects. Obviously not the lume which only works if you charge it up with a super bright LED flashlight for about 30 seconds. Then it looks pretty good as both bezel, dial and hands are visible. But It's way below the San Martin lume I have on a Tudor Black Bay homage I picked up at the Same time for a little less. I'm considering buying the original of one of the two and am definitely leaning away from the Tudor because it's just too sterile and bland despite the mountain of social media hype. It's kind of absurd to pay more for a basic 3 hand movement than a Longines GMT with COSC. You can get thr Longines for about $2,000 now slightly used. Tudor doesn't even use a true in-house movement they outsource to Kinessi which they acquired rather than making their own stuff (basically exactly what Rolex did with buying out Aegler).
    At any rate the cool thing about the Pagani homage is that it's a 40mm whereas with the original you have to big with a 42mm or small with a 39mm. I wish they would have just settled with a 40mm. And not including the date at 6 o'clock was a mistake.
    P.s.
    The Pagani Paul Newman Daytona homage for $60 is hands down the best watch you can get under $100. You aren't beating the crystal, ceramic bezel and Seiko movement for that. I also like the IWC power reserve homage for about $80 and the Omega 57 and Speedmaster V3 homage are also sub $100 bargains. They should upgrade the crystal on the 57 though for something less reflective like on the Paul Newman Daytona homage.

    Definitely too much for a PD. A little bit of a premium to cover the NH34, though $120 would be about right. One strange decision. The NH34 comes with a date complication as it's fairly essential for a GMT and instead we have a ghost position.

    The problem isn’t the watch, it the price. But tell say this in defense of Pagani, you have here a watch that looks great, GMT functions, good bezel action and has a comfortable bracelet (by your own words) for less than $200. Could we be setting the bar a little too high?

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  9 месяцев назад +1

      I agree completely, the price is the biggest issue with this and that’s why I highlighted that at the end. I’ve had watches from Seestern and San Martin at this price point with much better QC, finishing, and overall quality. If those brands can reach those high standards at the same price point, I feel Pagani needs to step up if they want to be competitive in that space.
