What do you think the solution was here? Realigning the micro switches? I had the same problem and I took it apart and tinkered with the magnet and that assembly which seemingly didn’t look right. It fixed the issue and read discs for a couple months then stopped again. Thanks.
I think it all comes down to the internal alignment of the drives it's a slim bit of plastic that has to hit a tiny switch over time they'll wear or slip over each other and sometimes I don't think there is a reasonable explanation it just happens
i put new drive still nothing do you know were the fuses are located? on a EMD-OO3 board
My old disc drive was broken..but i could tell it was getting power from the noises..i bought a new one and i get no power and it doesn't take any disc's inside..i dont know what to do anymore..at this point i might as well get a new ps5
thank you for the video I just bought a PS5 Slim and my drive doesn't look anywhere close to yours, regarding circuit boards, there are none on the top of the drive, except a cable on the back and front of my drive, I put in my disc upside down I guess but it wouldn't eject it so I took the drive apart to get the disc out without ruining it but my ps5 won't pull in the disc any suggestions thankyou!
the new slim drives are alot different id just make sure all connectors on the drive are connected properly also make sure the drive mech is lined up as it may not be hitting the micro switches to tell it to take a disc

I have a question. Over the three years of ownership and cleaning two or three times a year the fan pin out pulled from the board traces and all. I soldered copper wire as tracers and wired a jumper wire to the pwm square on the back. Fan works. Console runs cool. I can play it for an unlimited time with no issue. Tested and true. The only problem now is the disc drive. Never used it. I only have one disc copy of a game. The rest digital. For some reason it won’t accept discs now and ultimately won’t communicate with the PS so, like you mentioned, my console won’t update. Is there something I could look for? At this point I’m over working on it. Sick thing is the console wasn’t dirty with this cleaning 😂. Thanks sir, great and informative video too.
Check to make sure all the connections are secure. The flex cable may be damaged, and if not seated properly, it will give you the symptoms you describe 👍
I have the same exact issue with the disc not even going into the ps5 and I already disassembled the disc drive and made sure connections were good but it still doesn’t even try to take the disc. Kinda at a stump still, any idea?
Have you checked the fuses on the motherboard? There are two for the disc drive. If either has blown, then the drive won't work.

What does it mean when it will take a disc when you first turn it on but doesn’t read it. The spinning icon appears at top center of screen. After awhile it stops and I hear the mechanism do something. Then I eject the disc. When I try to reinsert a disc it doesn’t take them anymore. If I turn it off and back on it will take the disc again but the process starts all over again
It's really hard to pinpoint the issue without seeing the console. It could be several things causing the issues
@@CCRepairsUK someone said the laser needs replaced
It can be the laser but you also have issues with your mechanism withing the drive as well as once you remove the disc as you said you can't reinsert it. You'll likely need a new laser and to check the mech
Why is my connection not the same , and I can't get the parts ..my daughter board connection is closed closer than urs .
It could depend on the model of ps5 you have there is 3 revisions with two different drives
What's name of all the cables for the cd drive? Can't find the name of them. I have been trying this four and five times now, so i guess it has to be one of the cables. PS5 is turning on so it's working, but not the cd drive either the network because of the cd drive.
It could be a couple of things hard to say without seeing the console
When my ps5 is plugged in and off state. When i keep disc in drive it turns on but not taking disc inside. I have replaced new drive with old daughter board ..it still remains same.
What do you think the problem would be?
Could be a number of things causing it from one of the motors to an issue on the daughter board or even an issue on the motherboard without seeing the console it's really hard to give a diagnosis
